The comments about salt is valid in cooking. You notice the pro chef tells her exactly what is needed for the junior chef to improve the taste-salt. M criticizes, but doesn’t suggest what is needed (she probably doesn’t know). You can use citrus or vinegar to increase a “salty” taste without salt, but you have to taste constantly. Lack of seasoning is a really easy mistake and one I would expect a young chef to make.

I had a friend from metroplex life Texas travel north with me. He'd never been north of TX. He said, the farther north you go, the less salt and the less spice there is in the food! Lol. We went to popular family restaraunts in northern communities with aging populations with a higher level of farmers. Wheat for Kansas, corn for Iowa, livestock etc. I told him that elderly usually prefer less salt taste as we age and their have doctors have most likely recommended a lower sodium diet. There are also more Northern European descendents with pockets from Germany, Norway etc whose food is historically bland. I requested tobasco sauce and handed him a salt shaker and taught him that..."We season our food AFTER cooking around these parts"

There were two REAL chefs there- so they could absolutely give expert critiquing. Why couldn’t Meghan just be positive and complimentary to these awesome children. Did she think she needed to COMPETE with Maneet? Although to be honest the producers of the show pick the sound bites they think will add balance to the show. Meghan wasn’t completely responsible for what ended up in the final product.

i liked how when the farm girl was being interviewed , the other two judges looked smilingly at each other, showing they were bonded. Then Meghan chimed in rather authoritatively about so nkw let’s talk about the food, controlling the dialogue, as if she were the leader. And the tone of her voice was a little threatening . nasty bit of work

I’ve been watching Chopped forever!! Maneeth is a Top Chef!! She knows what she is talking and a pure expert in *Food and Cooking* You can use different types of salts which are healthier. And I have to say it was fair criticism. I can see where M gave the second girl some critique about the size or portions, which they have done. Maybe could have said it differently, a bit easier! The other piece I want to mention is what M is wearing, which I think is inappropriate for this Kids Cooking show! Notice she is showing her shoulders, just like she has been doing lately with her outfits, showing too much or wearing inappropriate outfits; i.e., where she met with parents whose children committed SCIDE!! Totally inappropriate!!
