Kinda a weird point in his career to analyze. The stuff he did on Good Morning Spider and It’s a Wonderful Life are pure artistry. Songs intentionally sabotaged to keep them from potentially being hits. Mark Linkous is a super underrated, absolutely one of a kind talent.

😅. I feel like the vocal thing was purposeful. I don’t know much about mixing but there’s something very “Mark” about keeping it there. Think of him in the same general lane you would put Post-80’s Tom Waits. Mark is a Sonic painter who happens to be a musician. 😅🤷‍♀️. Just wanted to give context. I like to think made beautiful music for weirdos like me, lol. 💚
