@@MelodyMartinMusic Boston is literally knee deep in decent prospects and could quite easily pull off a major trade for Eichel, NO money retained for Buffalo ! DeBrusk and possible McAvoy is who i'd be asking for but there's also Vaakananen, Zboril, Carlo, Vladar, Studnicka and the like in the AHL as well as picks. the B's are already serious cup contenders so think of how many cups they could potentially win with Jack in the lineup? that's the down side for the Sabres!

To Ottawa: Jack Eichel and Kyle Okposo To Buffalo: One of our young center prospects: Logan Brown/Josh Norris, Established Middle 6 Center: Chris Tierney, Winger prospect: Rudolfs Balcers Defensive prospect: Erik Brannstrom or Lassi Thomson, Draft picks: 2020 OTT 5th overall pick, 2020 2nd rounder (33rd overall), 2022 OTT first rounder Why it makes sense: while the return might not be as “sexy”, the value is there. I don’t think it covers the “heart” value for Eichel but essentially Sabres get a potential top-six center, a middle-six center, a middle-6 wing prospect, a top-4 D prospect, a cap dump in Okposo to a team that can take it, and some picks to help rebuild. I think for Buffalo fans this trade feels a LOT like how Sens fans felt with the Karlsson trade. It definitely banks on future talent being developed correctly but these guys are more seasoned than what we got & what seemed like a quantity for quality trade for Karlsson actually turned out great. Obviously Jack is signed for longer than EK65 who was a pending UFA. Why it doesn’t make sense: Sabres would obviously want the 3rd or 5th pick this year but Ottawa is not in a position yet to mortgage their future when it’s very likely they will still be bad (but better) next year.

You hit it on the head. Jack Eichel is the kind of player that would either cost a superstar or the Lindros haul. But if you have a superstar, why are you trying to get a different one? Jack Eichel for Auston Matthews would be bonkers and I would love to see it just for the excuse to make popcorn and watch the world burn, but there isn't really a reason to give up something you already have for another version of that thing. If you have some depth, that is what your team is built around, so you aren't going to give up the farm and the cows for a superstar. Columbus can tell you all about the mistake of trying to have a hockey team that was one guy surrounded by the results of years of blind dart throwing, and if you pull off a Lindros/Duchene style trade, that is essentially what you would be doing.

Edmonton is one of the only teams who could realistically get Eichel because they have one of, if not the only player who is worth more than Jack Eichel in the context of this deal. This is a similar situation to when I was discussing on someone else’s page about what it would take for anyone to get Connor McDavid. These guys are the type of player that will absolutely not be traded unless it was for enough that the other team wouldn’t want to do it. There were people expecting like MacKinnon+1st and 3rd to be enough. That wouldn’t even be remotely close. These type of players are players who do not benefit the team to trade away. So if there are teams wanting to acquire them, it’s going to be heavily weighted in Buffalo or Edmonton’s way (in the other example). Mel, I think you’re pretty close to what it would take with your general assessment of top F, top D, top prospect, 2nd best prospect, and 2 1sts (I believe it was). That wouldn’t be the case for every single team, but teams like Colorado could probably do it for less, and teams like New Jersey would possibly have to do it for more. I think there are teams that could get it done for their top F, and top D, or their Top F, 2 1sts and a top prospect, or something similar. Using COL as an example, they could likely do it for MacKinnon, Byram, 2 1sts, or MacKinnon, Jost, and probably someone like Kerfoot. The interesting thing there would be if they go through with their bid for Matt Murray and included Grubaurer to BUF as the 3rd piece. One of my favorite things about the new CBA is they’ve officially stopped allowing lottery protected picks, which is a favorite of 75% of the commenters it seems. If Eichel came out and said he absolutely won’t play for the Sabres and demand a trade, other teams might be able to get him for slightly less, but it wouldn’t be cheap still. They’d rather hold his rights and he not play I’m sure, than give him away for nothing. If Eichel did this, you’d probably see the league step in and try to arbitrate for the good of the league if a deal couldn’t be reached. It would probably be less than BUF wants but more than the other teams want to give still. Saying that not wanting to trade a player for Eichel doesn’t necessarily mean he’s worth more on every case, but trying to make them give up Eichel when they don’t want to is going to cost a lot. Another interesting point is your analogy to the Eric Lindros deal from Quebec. First off, because Lindros has already outright refused to play for the team (making it a bit surprising he was still worth so much, but he was one of the best major junior players ever.). Secondly, because the Lindros trade is objectively one of the most important trades in NHL history, and is still helping the Avalanche today. Sorry this is so long Mel!

I think Toronto is still getting a bit shafted, but that’s what you get for trading a player of Aryes caliber. This will help Buffalo in their rebuild by getting rid of all their bad players and adding the best player in the league who can play every position. Note: I know this is probably the best offer you’ve seen, and it probably would have been great to feature in your vid, but unfortunately I didn’t see the message so I didn’t have the opportunity to add it😭

If you do a part 3 Dallas receives: Jack Eichel Buffalo receives: Jamie Benn, Denis Gurianov, John Klingberg, Anton Khudobin and 2 firsts, only one is lottery protected (similar to the Ottawa/San Jose pick conditions)

To Buffalo: Mantha, Veleno, Hronek, 4th overall pick, McIssac, 2021 top 5 protected 1st that becomes unprotected in 2022 , our 2020 2nd and the higher of the Washington/Edmonton 2020 2nd. To Detroit: Eichel and 8th overall pick Sabers get a 25 goal scorer in Mantha, Hronek who on the Wings is our top D-man, but on a contender is more of a 2nd pair D-man and PP QB, Veleno is a projected middle 6 center (thought about Rasmussen instead but Veleno may have more upside), McIssac is another solid prospect, 1st round pick swap in 2020 works for both teams Sabers can land Rossi or Perfetti to be the future 1C or Drysdale to be another top D man, add in either a 2021 or 2022 1st that will likely be a top 10 pick I think thats a solid package. Top 6 Forward, Top 4 Dman, forward prospect, defense prospect, a higher 2020 1st another high 1st within the next 2 years and 2 extra shots at a solid prospect

Nobody tried Trade-ception Mk.2... Main Trade: To BUF: Hughes, Hischier, two 2020 1sts from NJD originally owned by ARZ and VAN with respective conditions, 2020 2nd from NJD, some magic beans, and a 6-pack To NJD: Eichel, Okposo To PIT: Schneider, 2020 2nd from NJD and 4th from BUF Within the above trade is the following trade: To LAK: Jack Johnson, 2020 2nd + 6th from PIT To PIT: 2020 7th from LAK To NHL office: 2018 trade deadline PTSD TL;DR BUF gets Hischier, Hughes, 2 firsts and a second, and cap relief; NJD gets Eichel, PIT gets goaltending depth and moves up in a deep draft, and LAK gets extra picks for taking a cap dump; and all of this gives the NHL office staff nightmares for the rest of their career

So following your suggestions: I’m a Colorado guy, so our trade would have Eichel to the Avs and... wait for it... Mikko Rantanen, Samuel Girard, Bowen Byram, Martin Kaut and 2 firsts to the Sabres?? Too tough to swallow. But I love the devotion. How about Matt Nieto, Ian Cole and tickets to see the Flobots at Red Rocks Amphitheatre?
@MelodyMartinMusic4 жыл бұрын
Nooo. No one would ever think that Rantanen would be included in the 6 piece package. If I'm the Sabres I still try to pry him out, but with the knowledge that we'd be getting a lot less to go with him. Probably switch out Mikko with like Burakovsky or something.

I appreciate that Tom! I use Logic as my DAW, and I use a rode NT1-A mic with a presonus audio box as the interface. It's basically as cheap as I can get for everything, but it works for me!

Melody Martin awesome, thank you so much! As for the Sabres, I think you guys will turn a corner soon. Lots of talent in the system. You’ll get a real playmaker at 8th this year. As a redwings fan, I’m no stranger to disappointing seasons the last few years. Can’t wait until December though! Keep up the good vids 👍😁

You want a blockbuster trade?! OK. Buffalo to L.A. Jack Eichel L.A. to Buffalo -Anze Kopitar -Gabe Vilardi - and I’ll throw in a 2021 first round and a lifetime supply of “In N Out” burgers.

2 of the most realistic trades involved pending UFA's ( krug and markstrom) And you cant have em, they're both coming to Detroit. We need all the help we can get, we dont even have the capital for a realistic eichel deal.
@1313skr4 жыл бұрын
Might be looking at some of these with such validation isn’t the wisest thing. Look somebody said Matthews and Sandin, so that means Eichel is higher value, must be because his contract is 1.634 mil cheaper a year... u realize Matthews has out performed eichel every single year right? That not an opinion... simply the numbers, that said I’ll admit that Matthews does play for the better team, and likely has an easier time because of it but u can’t change the fact he’s scored more than 30 every year... Eichel, did it once. Matts has on season he was a negative +|-. Eichel one year he wasn’t a negative. Eichel has only ever had more points in a season than matts once. It was Matthews rookie season and eichel got two more points as a sophomore. They’ve both had some injury concerns over the years, neither really gets a leg up there, but again they play for very different teams, which does affect individual performance, but saying eichel is more valuable simply isn’t true... that said the whole zamboni driver fiasco is gonna haunt the leafs for a long time, and rightfully so they don’t deserve to live that down!

I don't know why so many Leafs fans want to argue with me on the whole Matthews vs. Eichel thing when I never once said that Eichel was better...
@1313skr4 жыл бұрын
U imply he’s a more valuable asset in this video on the premise that the whoever suggested the leafs trade was correct in the value they put on each side. I’d say I’m not trying to argue so much as speak my opinion, but let’s be honest u make KZbin videos often surrounding the nhl and hypotheticals. How could u possibly expect anything else, it’s kinda the whole purpose of sports discussions. I’d argue with Ron Maclean if I disagreed with him....
@MelodyMartinMusic4 жыл бұрын
@@1313skr I think you completely misunderstood me. I never implied he's a more valuable asset, and I never implied that the author of that article was correct. I was reading that article to show that I could be way worse and way more bias in my evaluations like the writer of the article was. I didn't say he was correct, in fact I was laughing at him, implying that I thought he was being silly for suggesting so much. I always appreciate discussion, and as a matter of fact I always encourage discussion, just make sure you're not misunderstanding what I'm saying.

I loved the French connection as much as any other Sabres fan but I have to argue that Jack Eichel is the best Sabre overall since Dominick Hasek instead of Perreault. I mean he did manage to elevate what was a solid team with no offensive super stars all the way to the Stanley cup finals. Not to mention the numbers he posted during his career in Buffalo were fairly ridiculous. Anyways I think Jack will get us long suffering fans our first cup before his time in Buffalo is over, he’s just that kind of player, you can sense it when he is on the ice. The team has some talented players to support him and has shown the ability to go on streaks so I don’t think we’re as far off as many people believe. Sure there is still some work to be done but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Sabres back in the playoffs next year.

I agree they are closer then most think, with the money coming off the books in Buffalo this season and next they really needed a proven GM. They have some decent talent (Eichel is exceptional) and the Cap is in good shape I just think it's the wrong time and place for the rookie GM sadly?
@jonathandwilliams28854 жыл бұрын
To Detroit: Eichel plus a 2020 2nd round pick (Detroit loves picking underrated/underscouted intelligent players later than they should go, so hopefully not too bad trade down pick wise) To Buffalo: Larkin, Fabbri, and a 2021 1st (likely to be a pretty high first), and retaining a good portion of Larkin's salary to lessen the cap hit for Buffalo's rebuild. Rationale: Larkin is a 1C about a tier and a half down from Eichel, so making the deal more realistic with a depth scorer in Fabbri and a pick upgrade and cap hit incentive is a must. To anyone saying Larkin plus Mantha, Detroit would never trade both first liners. Zadina is probably a bit much. Maybe Bertuzzi instead of Fabbri if Buffalo doesn't like the Fabbri idea, though that might cost the cap hit aspect of the trade, allowing Detroit to go for a free agent instead. Other options for sweetening the deal include adding on prospects other than Seider, and probably Veleno. Detroit won't trade this year's first because we need a 2C, which I'm hoping for Stutzle to drop if that's even possible, or otherwise Rossi. We have several solid D-man prospects in the system, and next year's draft is more D-man heavy. This is the year Stevie said he's looking at forwards, particularly a 2C, after loading up on D last year and having more D coming next year. The 2021 1st would still probably be top 3 protected, with the alternative pick being an unconditional 2022 1st. Thoughts? Obviously Jack Eichel wouldn't be happy about it unless he saw serious potential for Detroit to finish the rebuild quickly, but with a top 1C the scoring wouldn't be as much of an issue. Plus Seider should make the Wings this next season, reducing the defensive end issues. Hopefully that would be enough to convince him to resign.

if the Sabres ever had a chance to get Johnny Honky from Calgary for Sam Reinhart then they should do it ! he's a 100 point player who happened to have an off year last season. and age wise, there's only about 3 years difference !

As a leaf fan I’d like to see this. To Boston: Future considerations and Kyle okposo To Buffalo: Pastrnak Bergeron Marchand Krug Rask Debrusk Coyle all with 100% retained (if that’s possible)

Will there be a part 3? Block Buster Leafs: Eichel, Miller (salary dump, but leafs need RD), Okposo (who is put on LTIR), 2nd round pick (for Okposo) Sabres: Marner (top 3), Nylander (top 6) Anderson ($1m Actual Salary). Marner and Nylander have front loaded with Signing bonus contracts. Trade happens after players are paid signing bonus. Buffalo trades Anderson at trade deadline for 2nd turns in to conditional 1st if team gets to final

I'm binging your videos because the sabres didn't lose yesterday (can't lose if you don't play!) - have you considered an armchair GM episode where you take a look at the roster top to bottom, and go through a series of contract buyouts(okposo) / upcoming FA's that you try and fix the sabres with? no need to go into trades because there's far too many variables to factor in with that. I'd watch that personally, I've complained about a lot of sabres contracts basically since erhoff's contract. Erhoff, Leino, Okposo, Moulson, Skinner being the biggest ones that come to mind. It's bonkers to me that these guys got massive contracts and they gave reinhart 1 year again. I'd like to think it was with the idea that they could then easily trade him as a rental, but I'm doubtful.

In this universe, I feel that Jack Eichel will play out his contract and sign with Boston. However, if there would be a trade with Pittsburgh, I found 2 possible trades that will benefit all parties in some capacity. Pitt/Buff Jake Guentzel (T6 FWD), Marcus Pettersson (Depth/T4 D), 2021 2nd Rd and 2021 3rd Rd to Buffalo. Jack Eichel, Kyle Okposo, 1 AHL Prospect and a 2021 3rd Rd to Pittsburgh. 3 Way: Pitt/Buff/WPG Jack Eichel(Buf) and 2021 4th Rd(WPG) to Pitt, 2021 2nd Rd(Buf) and Chad Ruhwedel(Pit) to WPG, Jake Guentzel(Pit) and Josh Morrissey(WPG) to Buf. Like I said, most likely, either of thesse would never happen but I feel that all pieces of both trades hold similar value and COULD work if the parties find the terms agreeable.
