The 2 things we needed in the finals were 3pt buckets, and playoff/finals experience. It was tough watching DJJ and PJ airball 3's (especially with how kyrie was playing). I think it's kinda weird that for the last couple of seasons we've seen that it's not a top-heavy team's league anymore, and somehow this free agency has still been mainly obsession over pg and klay. I truly think okc improved their team way more than philly for example. They saw that their main weaknesses were perimeter defense and shooting to some degree, and rebounding, so they went out and got two amazing pickups in caruso and ihart. Presti is continuing with his masterclass in team building imo.

Yeah, I'd be shocked if not, but it seems like the championship window has closed for the Nuggets. It really just depends on how much the young players like Braun, Watson, Strawther, Nnaji and Holmes can improve. The core 4 of Jokic, Murray, Gordon , Porter Jr are still elite , arguably the best top 4 of any team still and I’m not going to write off the possibility of them winning another title next year but it is disappointing that they have let Bruce Brown and KCP go for nothing the last 2 summers and I’m no longer betting on them to win a title like the last few years.

I think it's normal, I feel like every FA starts with teams resigning and big stars like pg moving first. there are quite a few aging stars in their last deals and people need to see what happens with the bigger stars first like bridges, pg, Harden, Klay. And then it's going to potential stars and teams in rebuild or young win now mode like giddy on bulls or hartenstein in okc. Or teams resigning players they wanna keep first like OG and Knicks. So what's left are aging stars are near expiring contract and the NBA is currently in a huge shift in play style with stretch 5s and bigger pgs/switching/5 out...so what do teams do now...do they need mid range specialists like Lowry or derozan? Not really. Most teams need size, rebounding, bigs who can shoot and rim protection

Klay is a legend. But he was waaaay overpaid. Josh Greens potential upside outweighs klays definitive ceiling. They were better off paying DJJ. Sad Mavs grabbed klay bc hes a bigger name for PR purposes instead of resigning DJJ whos on ball D was phenomenal. I hope the Mavericks soon realize that a bigger more splashy PR move would be advancing far into the playoffs again instead of grabbing Thompson. Green had a ton of chances here. Maybe with Charlotte he can be better (with a bigger role). But it was so frustrating coming into every season, expecting Green to take the next step, and it was almost the exact same thing as the year before. I agree that losing DJJ hurts. Especially since he signed for 1 mil more per year than Naji. But Naji is almost just as good as DJJ, without the hops. Then add in Grimes as well. I think we'll be ok. Denver's cheap ownership may have derailed a dynasty. As for KCP on the Magic, I love the move. But I do think they need to make more moves to meaningfully improve. Could they win more games next year due to internal improvement? Sure. But KCP doesn't solve their offensive issues. He only makes 1.6 three-pointers a game. The Magic were 29th in 3pt makes. What they need is an on-ball creation and high-volume shooting from the guard position. Until they get that, they're going to be in the 2nd or 3rd tier of the East.

Being very optimistic, but I think there's a world out there where CP3 is well rested after not playing as much last season and gives the Spurs a very strong year, reminiscent of that year in OKC, and with Wemby improving too the Spurs are suddenly a team hovering around 50ish wins

@@butlervon3979 we've said for awhile that we need a good spot up shooter ABOVE the break (not a corner shooter) to support luka since it was what shut down the mavs in the finals and most of the playoffs, he also provides enough* defense to also gaurd on ball. klay fits the majority of what the mavs need. he may not be consistent, but with the open looks hes gonna get playing next to luka, i expect his percentage to go up

@@butlervon3979dude averaged 18 last year on 43%fg and 39%3pm on a team with no shooting outside of Steph. He’s not the poa defender he used to be but had success guarding bigger players like Paolo, Tatum, kawhi, and KD. He’s gonna be your perfect 3rd option as an above the break 3 point shooter. One final point: would you rather have Derrick Jones Jr. sitting in the corner on offense or Klay?

@@jmi425 Your point about it being a good offensive fit is valid. However I just can't wrap my head around a luka, kyrie, klay lineup defending anybody with a pulse. I also really liked josh greens energy and overall improvement over the past few years, so trading him for a guy on his last leg felt weird to me. You have made me envision the upside of this move so lets see where it goes.

WHYYYY omg nugqs and mavs, my two fave teams , are sooo dumb!?!?! Derrick jones was so key, and losing Josh Green, a rising young player for a washed old player. And nuggets KCP is crucial, qnd last year loseing bruce , it feels like they just content with their one championship.

Yea Nuggies are falling apart but Mavs have improved. They were paying Hardaway 17M to shoot 3s and now they are paying 17M to Klay whos better in every way. DJJ and Green were already replaced by equal players. DJJ was on minimum contract and all of a sudden people wanna act like hes a defensive superstar :D

KCP failed them in the series against the Timberwolves. He is good, but there can be more players to fill that role that are younger and much cheaper.
