Fun fact : Earl Sweatshirt can be seen in a music video for Oedipus, he said Ka was the best rapper alive back in 2015, praising Dr Yen Lo as the best album of the year even though he dropped I Dont Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside that same year
@itzmimz823818 күн бұрын
Earl and Ka are quite similar when I think about it. The minimalism, imagery and poetic nature of their lyrics. Ka’s writing seems more refined, but Earl is just as intentional with how he raps

This is my personal favorite KA album and one of my favorite albums of all time. It’s absolutely one of a kind. The writing is impeccable. ABSOLUTELY impeccable, and the metaphors of greek mythology to his life in the streets are just genius. On top of that, the beats are fucking BEAUTIFUL. Beats that just sound like they go with a greek mythology album, ask yourself, have you ever heard beats like this? Like ever? It’s a one of a kind album and very underrated in my opinion. Also a compact album with just 10 tracks
@Chronicallyaddictedtomusic18 күн бұрын
My personal favourite record of his; absolutely love the skits and lyrics that take inspiration from Greek Mythology (especially that Chimera line on Sirens). I’m sure you’re tired of album recommendations, but I’m gonna do it anyway 😭😭 “Black Messiah” by D’Angelo & The Vanguard is a MUST listen. It’s his most experimental, and has the heaviest rock and funk influences of any D’Angelo record, which I think you’ll enjoy.
@thenameisomari15 күн бұрын
“Black Messiah” is amazing. I know “Voodoo” is D’Angelo’s magnum opus, but I think “Black Messiah” is nearly on-par with it (and prob even more potent when it comes to sheer creativity).
@Chronicallyaddictedtomusic15 күн бұрын
@thenameisomari Also stronger conceptually and lyrically (again, slightly; that word applies to anything “better” when comparing anything D’Angelo). Songs like “The Charade” and “1000 Deaths” have such potent / important messages, and are very strong lyrically.

Ka, Roc, Black Thought and Guru are by far my favourite rappers. They have the ability to use words to instill a deep emotion in you, and the way they can set an atmosphere is amazing. This album is my favourite Ka album (after Honor killed the samurai), the way he links greek methology to the street life is unheard of. R.I.P Brownsville Ka, what an unbelievably humble, wise, hardworking, loving human he was.

Love the vid, i know its been almost two years since you listened to death grips but you should check out The Powers That B, i think you'll really enjoy the second half as its actually a double albumn. The first half has samples from bjork, not sure if you're into her stuff, on every track and she worked closely with them. The second half is much heavier and has a more metal rock sound. Also i think it has some of their best lyrics which i know you like, especially the song On GP which might be their best song ever made. Keep on rocking man ❤

I’ll check out some of your videos for sure. If you’re looking for something heavily WLR influenced (that’s still entirely different) I’d check out BAFK by Nettspend.
