I love getting to watch brides find the perfect outfit for their special day, or days depending on who you are and where you come from! And that's why I'm so excited to get to react to Wedding dresses on Plus Size brides! But this episode truly shocked me. Between the comments from family and the lack of dresses in a bride's size, there is a lot to unpack!

Yeah. And she's correct, besides. Depending on what kind of bone structure/proportions you have, sleeves can make the shoulder/arm area look wider. I mean, her arms aren't flabby or anything. There's no reason, why she would need to cover them up. They're smooth and nice looking and match the rest of her body.

My Bestie and i attend the Opera together on the regular. She's a bit on the large side, and is a hard fit up top. She had a cute little summer dress, with spsghetti straps, and she felt insecure without a shrug or something on top. I ran to my closet, dug around until I found a cute little grey cardi. 3/4 sleeves with ribbed cuffs and a button accent, but no buttons on the front, it was short and a very nice faux cashmere. She didn't think it would fit, but I told her that making slim tops FIT was one of my best fashion things, and I wouldn't have suggested it if weren't certain it could work. She put it on and it fit PERFECTLY. Looked SO cute with the dress, and she said it made her feel SO GOOD in her SKIN that I insisted it was HER sweater now, and she could KEEP it. She told me that it meant a lot more than just a sweater to her, because it would look cute with jeans, formal, etc., and it was SO HARD to find stuff like that. She's got a Golden Ticket pass to borrow ANYTHING from my wardrobe. It's fit me from 135 to 205lbs, so if she's ever in a pinch, I've got her covered!

This, I’ve been a little heavy before, and it can be so hard to find things that fit correctly, even if you are only a 12. Clothing manufacturers just size up clothes designed for women size 0-4 and the result is less than flattering.

My mom said she noticed a self confidence issue with me at a young age. She went on to research and read books about how to help me with it. I didn't find out until I found one of the books in her house as a young adult. That's when she explained it to me... she also had books on how to better understand people with anxiety disorders. Just one of the reasons she is the sweetest Mom ever. I literally couldn't imagine her insulting my body and I can't think of one negative thing she's said about my physical appearance throughout my entire life. She always tells me I'm her beautiful girl even now that I'm in my mid-30s.

I live on Long Island and have known women like the first mom my whole life. They are the kind of Italian mom who grew up with a mom or grandmother who was off the boat from Italy, would take a wooden spoon or shoe and throw it at them if they said or did something they didn’t like. Good on the daughter for understanding that her mother is clearly unhappy with herself and projecting it out on her. That is a healthy view to have.

If there's anything I’ve learned from curvy brides boutique (the only wedding dress programme I watch) it’s that trying to hide your arms with sleeves makes them stick out more. Especially since often those sleeves are mesh which is not good if you're trying to hide arm fat. Which isn’t even something she, or anyone, should have to do. And anyway she looks great in that dress, it really flatters her body and gives her a really lovely shape.

I took my fiancé and only my fiancé wedding dress shopping. He was great and loved being pampered by the ladies in the shop while I enjoyed trying on dresses. He was totally supportive which my mother would not have been. We were in our 30s and had been living together for over a decade at that point. We paid for everything ourselves which meant we had less to spend but had the wedding we wanted and avoided any toxic family dynamics. Still happily together after over 40 years. ❤ Ps going wedding dress shopping with him is one of my best memories.

also can i mention that like when it comes to giving a white lie or not telling truth about someones body... sometimes its not the *truth* but just simply an opinion that doesnt need to be given. I look at that first bride and think shes a perfectly fine weight, one that fits her body and she wears it well. Her arms dont look chubby- they just look like arms. Shes obviously on the bigger curvier side but like thats when you find a dress that works with that instead of hides it. You should never try and hide your body because no matter how much fabric you got on people can still see the insecurity. Learn to work with what you have and after awhile youll find that youll like the way you look.

I'm plus size and years ago I found an old wedding dress at a thrift store for $20 that looked better on my body than anything else, ever. It was an ivory mermaid with a center seam on front and back, cinchèd upwards. It was easy and fun to move in, had a v neck with shortish lace bell sleeves, and it made me look so sexy but not immodest. Whoever made that dress (no tags but it had some stretchy factors) really loved and understood the plus sized woman. I've never seen another plus size dress that was so perfect, but the very last dress in the video was approaching that.

Everybody exclaimed how I looked like a video vixen, which made me shrink and become even more self-conscious. I developed an eating disorder. I would go for days and eat nothing. @@mariearteaga3056it's bonkers that, in my exp sometimes mid sized people get more grief than clearly plus size people. As a mid- large fat, I feel invisible, in person at least. Diff online. As a mid-size to small fat, I got so much pressure to "slim down" and conform. I think my looks and confidence meant I was still "competition" or "an option" for the straight size people who just HAD to remind me that I had just left their range of acceptability. I don’t agree with motherly passive aggressive comments at all, but also I don’t agree with the idea of sleeves to hide arms, it does the exact opposite - it draws the eyes to the shape and highlights/shadows - and adding in the urban myth that white tends to make you look heavier vs black is slimming - sleeves don’t make sense at all. Also I’m prejudice bc I hate lacey mesh sleeves they just feel constricting.

My mother did this to me, literally my whole life. I had huge confidence issues. She would constantly criticise everything. "You're not an exceptional beauty, but you'll do." "You look like Renee Zellweger as Bridget Jones." "But that's a compliment dear." (You're fat! Is what she meant) From the moment my daughter was born, I told her that she was beautiful. I say everything she wears is great. If I think that her skirt is too short, I tell her to pick stuff up using an Asian squat, rather than a bend. I never say I dislike her clothing or taste, but when she was about 12, I told her that she's responsible for how she looks and if she ever chooses to wear stuff that looks ridiculous, but she loves it, then that's perfectly fine with me. Needless to say she's got great taste in clothes, and she's just gorgeous.

Don't hide behind the "I'm going to say the truth" when you know you're tearing someone down. THAT is not a virtue of any kind.

The first mom is horrible. She is making such rude comments with a smile on her face. She knows exactly what she is saying and how hurtful it is. Her daughter is beautiful and I would uninvite her to the wedding so quick.

Each one of those brides were beautiful! Also seemed to be at least one in every group that pushed their own agenda. Toxic 'out of love' is still toxic

That 'mother' takes so much pride in having been a skinny pride abd then shames her kids for her having gained weight because she gave birth to them (how exactly is having been birn the fault of her kids?) and then tops it off with 'my mother still does it'. Woman, you are old enough to get therapy. Get some... instead of causing your kids to need it.

That first mother was just horrible. I would have politely told my mother she could not be present with comments like that. With a mother like that who needs enemies. The daughter handled herself great.

That first mother was horrid, her love feels extremely conditional just tearing her daughter down because she wasn’t rail thin. The daughter also looked gorgeous in each gown. I hope she buys her own dress and uninvites her mom, you don’t want that kind of negativity around on your wedding day

The first bride is not especially fat, she is EU/USA average size and very beautiful. Her biggest problem is her mother. The other brides are beautiful too, I feel bad that they have been made to feel ‘less than’.
