[Reacting to] Red Velvet's Birthday MV off of their new mini album! My first comeback as a ReVeLuv!!

This song feels like classic Red Velvet to me in a way that Queendom did not and Feel My Rhythm didn't fully commit to (although I loved FMR) There has always been an undercurrent of darkness with Red Velvet - even with their Red titles. This one the vocals are bright and cheerful sounding the whole way through but in the chorus the melody, and especially the bass line, feel like they are meant for a much more aggressive song. That dissonance between cheerful/dark is a line that Red Velvet straddles beautifully. They will go from one side of that line to the other from song to song, but my favorite releases from them often meet in the middle.

From what I have heard of RV it does seem to be in their signature sound! That being said I really did like FMR! I completely agree with you! They manage that line so well!! I cannot wait to check out more of the discography!

Wellllllll they're witches :D hahahhaa So you know. Accordion description was on point. haha And I can see why you might hear an accordion, but I think it's really the sound of some brass w/ mutes in - but they do chop it up - it's the Gershwin sample :) Yeah there are SO MANY references in this video, it will be very exciting as you continue on your Red Velvet journey :D The verses have a more lighter happier tone in the back, while the chorus has upbeat vocals but the bass line is dark sounding - so it definitely gives that creepy cute vibe!

Unabashedly weird. Quintessentially Red Velvet. That's an inside joke that only ReVeluvs would get... literally the ONLY person Wendy could win "rock-paper-scissors" against would be Edward Scissorhands. A Pentacle is a Wiccan symbol meaning life, power and blessings. Unfortunately I can't watch your album reaction yet, as I promise myself that I never listen to any of the b-sides until I have the physical copy in my hands. Hopefully this weekend. RV just grabbed every 4th gen girl-group by the scruff of their necks and said "No no no... you've been doing it all wrong."

Weird is totally what I would use to describe RedVelvet MVs! I feel like less of a ReVeLuv now... need to check out more RV content clearly! Way behind the curve. That's ok don't worry about it I know some others who are similar XD I hope you enjoy it when you get to it and I look forward to hearing about your album!! Please do tell me what and who you get! Didn't they just haha a lot of 4th gen just arent up to scratch for RV clearly ;)

@@atgnireactions5343 Will do! I never even hesitate ever to pre order RV's albums. Quite often the title track isn't my favorite song on the CD. Their b-sides is where their magic really lies.
