This group already have me at this point, but these two songs once again solidify that fact by being bloody incredible! It's no surprise they rose to such heights with these kinds of releases. What a group!! 😍😍

Bang Chan selected the Stray Kids members, and then JYP put them into a survival show supposedly to cut out anyone he didn't deem worthy of a spot. It is, frankly, heartbreaking to watch but riveting - they are all so young, and go through some seriously unnecessary trauma. It is worth a watch if you would like to understand why they are the close group they are today. Each week of the survival show they had to complete a challenge: HELLEVATOR was written by them for one of the challenges and the MV was made during the show. That's why although it comes out first chronologically, it is not the official debut. In answer to your question, they were ages 16 to 20 when Hellevator was released. Since you haven't done Stray Kids content for a while, you may be unaware that they have a new mini album coming out on October 7th - search for MAXIDENT and you'll see the trailers and mashups have started dropping. Exciting!

I'm a baby stay, been litsening to them for about a week and a half now and I am LOVING them.... I already know a little bit about what happened during the survival show (ie felix and minho being cut but then brought back in the final episode)... do you know where I can watch the show? is it available internationally? thank you!

Fun fact, Stray Kids recorded this song in their own rooms by themselves and obviously they composed and wrote the song as well True talent!

Cool to see another Stray Kids fan. They write, compose and produce their own music, which they have done since their pre-debut days, when most of them were still teenagers. JYP, their management company, saw early on that they had mad skills and took the HIGHLY unusual decision to let them have creative freedom. As history shows, JYP's decision was absolutely the correct one. Hellevator (released pre-debut) is about their trials and tribulations during their trainee days. All the stress, exhaustion and frustration they experienced on their quest to "make it." But make it they did! District 9 was their first release at their debut.

One of the fun things about this song is that JYP (their boss) told Chan he didn't think they'd be able to perform it well because it was set in a "girl's key" and he thought they should bring it down a bit. But they did it in the original key, then wrote one of the next songs even higher!

They debuted on March 25, 2018 (ages 16-20 international ages). I.N and Hyunjin literally grew inches after debut. Love your reactions.

I am glad you liked the songs! I looooove them so much! the reason the gap between Hellevator and District 9 is so big, is that Hellevator is kind of a teaser for the survival show. JYP decided to make an experiment and let Bang Chan to choose the members (as well as the group name and the logo) and then they went through a survival show to prove the company that they are good enough to debut as the whole group and not loose anyone on the way. during the survival show they were given missions such as creating new songs and battling with YG trainees. As a result they debuted as 9-member group without loosing any members, and they created 7 songs during the survival show. they were released in a pre-debut "mixtape" mini-album with Hellevator being the title track: in the survival show you can see how they came up with the lyrics and song name and created a song from one of the tracks made by Chan, Hellevator describes their struggles and feelings on the way from hell (trainee days) to haven (debut), so Hellevator is actually an elevator going from hell upwards and not vice versa. Although it was created during the survival show, the beginning of the show was of course filmed earlier than it was broadcasted, that's why Hellevator was released before the survival show started on TV. two other songs from the pre-debut mixtape have performance videos: "grrr" and "spread my wings". fun fact: when JYP (I mean the head of the company) heard the song, he was surprised it goes so high, he said not every main female vocalist would be comfortable with such a song, and recommended to modify it. But Chan left it as it is. And created an even higher song for their debut - district 9 :) Both disctrict 9 and Hellevator have special place in STAYs' heart, especially Hellevator because of the survival show, the deepness of the lyrics and because it is the first ever SKZ song as a full group (3racha had songs before SKZ as well). SKZ do have a story line, it officially starts in District 9, but you can actually trace it even in Hellevator. the story line is super complex and confusing and it has many layers to it. I hope you know that SKZ have a comeback on October 7 with a mini album called Maxident? they have already released the trailer, the song titles and credits, the mashup, first unveil track and teaser photos. regarding recommendations, they have more than 100 songs and they are all great. Why don't you just do album reviews? Keep in mind that many b-sides song have some kind of a music video, but songs without MVs are not any worse, so they all worth checking.

Hellavator was my very first intro to straykids, it was actually suggested to me by a fellow army (from what I've seen most armys are also stays). BangChan wrote the beat for for this and tbh it still amazes me that this was their predebut song and wat a predebut song it was and still is (one of my favs) This was the song where Felix (one of my biased) first captivated me with his deep voice and since then he became one of my biases. Also ive been a stay ever since this song was released

You should watch the survival show. It will give you a whole nother level of respect for them to see what they went through. 🥺🥺🥺It's Traumatic and heart wrenching but with happy endings. While I feel they were put through a lot of trauma for ratings, I still can't help but appreciate their emotional journey 🙏🙏🙏. It binds you to their journey and it shines a light on truly talented they are and how hard they've worked since day1. ❤️

After watching the survival show, I have such a love for Hellavator. You see what they went through. I had no idea Bang Chan was half paralyzed after a performance practice accident for the battle with YG. Yet he still preformed with the group 2 days later ...I was shocked. They never said anything about it on the show. All of them went through so much. Especially Felix, Lee Know and Hyungjin. This song just hits so different after watching their journey and seeing them come up with the song. I love listening to it....when you said you feel it in your soul, yep.

Love your reactions and I am so impressed you got all of their names right including Woojin. Thank you for your reaction. Stray Kids ages in 2017 for Hellevator they range from 20 (Bang Chan & Woojin) to 16yreas old (I.N.). Stray Kids always has a mini trailers before their comeback or release and I highly suggest watching the I Am Not Trailer if you want to know the lore of District 9 and the I am Not album trilogy. District 9 to me is at the time they debut there were 9 members so they were their own district. Hellevator being their pre-debut album was for the reality elimination show they had to do to prove they were ready to debut even though Bang Chan hand picked the members before the show. I also recommend reacting to the 2022 updated guide even though it is long you can break it up in 2 parts it runs about 45 min. But it does have some spoilers because it gives snipits of songs you many not have heard or reacted to and it also goes over their Kingdom performances and gives you more insight to their individual personalities. Their is pros and cons to each guide any I am sure any you pick will be great. Stray Kids are getting ready for their 2nd comeback this year on Oct 7th with mini album Maxident. It will have 7 new songs and 1 song Circus from their Japanese album but released a Korean version. I agree Stray Kids has one of the top best rap lines in k-pop. They get you every time. I still love my BTS rappers, Zico, Bobby, B.I. and G-Dragon and so many more. I wasn't listening to K-pop either when Stray Kids Debut but I feel lucky that I found them a year later in 2019.

It was so good to watch Skz Hellevator with you today 🙂 Hellevator is their pre debut track and it's amaizing when you think avout how awsome it is and that they wrote and self produced it. District 9 is their debut song and has some of my fav rap bars from Changbin and Han. Stray Kids have a comeback on the 7th of October. So excited, can't wait for Maxident to be released. LOL it's becoming hard to wait 😂

Stray Kids are 4th generation and I am a Stay but I am also a VIP for 2nd generation’s group BIGBANG. Most reactors after hearing them ask why we never told them about BIGBANG so I’m telling you about them so you can never ask why you were never told about them. But please don’t start with them yet, enjoy your journey with Stray Kids first, there is so much more you haven’t heard/seen. Thanks!

Hi!! 3racha just dropped a song called "Heyday" for Streetman Fighter and the new album is coming, superboard unveil is out, and the maxident trailer is up, you could check it out if you want? I'd love to see it ❤️ Hellevator is the title track of their pre-debut album "Mixtape". They have many other very good songs on there you might like! District 9 is the title track of their Debut album, I am NOT ❤️ you got it right! Fun fact: During the Survival Show JYP told them that Hellevator sounds horrible because it's in a female key. So Bang Chan, the man he is, wrote District 9 in an even higher key because they know they can do it. They made an OT8 version of this song as well after Woojin left, and Han sang all the high notes, I'm in love 😭 Han is my ult bias and he just needs to breathe and I'm gone. This is my favourite rap from him. They are all incredibly talented in everything. If you want to hear Han singing, I can recommend I'll be your man from Kingdom Legendary War (unfortunately the performance without the other group's reaction was taken down because the Mnet channel got hacked). If you want a longer guide, you can watch Teanosuga's guide for Stray Kids, it's really long but detailed and very accurate! You aren't ready for the 3racha songs. And since you like the rappers, ypu should check Heyday and 3racha songs from Changbin, Bang Chan and Han. For Hyunjin, you need to check his solo dances on studio choom and DEFINITELY Red lights with Bang Chan
