Deep beneath, shackled to the void in a web of ancient chains, a great and terrible power waits. He has been waiting for so long. He has been waiting for you.
In Massive Monster's 'Cult of the Lamb,' you play as the titular lamb, saved from sacrifice and brought under the employ of 'The One Who Waits.' You must find followers, farm devotion and form the ultimate cult, in your mission to take on the Bishops of the Old Faith and free your new otherworldly patron from their eternal prison.
I absolutely fell in love with this game when I first played it. The aesthetic, the sounds, the characters. I don't typically play this sort of game at all, but the world of it totally drew me in just from the trailers and I knew I had to try it. And I am so glad I did!
In classic Stupendium style, this project started out small and then utterly snowballed, so I want to give a gargantuan thank you not just to my Patrons, but to everyone else who helped get this project past the finish line. Dominic, Seánie, Dan, Liz. Thank you all!
I'm super proud of this one. I think lyrically it's one of my favourites I've written for a long time. It's certainly the most intricate I have ever attempted with rhythm and structure. I hope it has paid off!

it's meant to be simple, it's meant to be easy and catchy that's how cults get you, repetition of simple ideas drilled in before the more complicated to make them go in easier

Something I noticed: "Pull - the - wool - o' - ver - our - eyes" Each successful syllable is lower, but subtly, like one quarter note. It's pulling you in, dragging you down, but so slowly, you don't even notice until it has its hooks in you.

Quarter note is duration, you probably mean half-tone or whole-tone. But yeah i think every two lines of the chorus, it subtly goes down the A minor scale. Like this: "Arms raised high in sa - cri fice Pull down wool o - ver our eyes" E E E D C F E C B E D C B A

Best part for this song is that it kinda represents both sides of the game. You can play the game without truly sacrificing anyone and you don't need to kill anyone in your congregation. It makes the game much more difficult as some of the Gods take much longer to overpower due to lack of sacrificial power.

I wanna just appreciate how Stupes try to imitate a lamb, the little waver in their voice while rapping. Their attention to detail and commitment to the bit is amazing

You actually play as this lamb in the game. Roguelike action with some 'stardewvalley-ish' elements, where you keep watch of all your followers.

"For the lamb who herds the sheep" is almost a direct reference to Christianity in general, since Jesus is referred to as both "the lamb of god" and "the shepherd" and the congregation/followers as his flock, so by that, you'd say that Jesus would be "the Lamb who herds the Sheep"

For me the thing this somg does best is the flow, both in general lyrics, aswell its melody and rhythm in the lyrics. It's really bloody easy to just get cought in the song and zone out, and the top notch audiodesign makes it even more so. My favorite part of it is propably the tarot card seer scene. I just adore that characters voice, and the floweyness of thia lines is just next level. Also, I really adore your reaction style. I can not stand those "reactors" that barely say anything. You made this reaction into something I can think bout and philosophy about for an hour easiely. ❤

The stupendium often takes inspiration for the style from the music in the game. Cult of the lamb music is very much repetitive like this.

Original sin is a catholic/ Christian concept where you are born with sin. The double meaning here is: even though the cult is new, they won't forgive you for what you've done in the past, you're still doomed.
