Niel is like our whole midfield he gets us out of so much and gets the ball forward, O'Nien and Ballard were amazing, I thought they saved us so much but it felt like majory of the team just gave up and Couldn't deal with the press. O'Nien was screaming for players to make runs. Burstow got the same raiting as Niel who got sent off he literaly got 14 touches not sure anything happend with it tho ... 😅

Bruised, skin grazed, ripped-off ... i cant watch any replays of it.... but that ref ruined it. I refuse to blame Neil's reaction. Balls to the supposed rules, Neil did not get personal. The ref said he would be empathetic in the pre- match meeting. On our own Territory man.. 🤨

Boro fan here, its a shame that the last two "derbys" have been ruined by poor refereeing decisions. However the ifrst challenge for the yellow on another day could have been a red. I was floored by the way Sunderland faded second half with too many players hiding. Luke O'Nien is class by the way. Good luck for the rest of the season and see you all in the playoffs. #UTB

Personally lm not to bothered about the result or scoreline, we’re still 4th in the league and when we come back after the internationals the players will be refreshed and ready to go again, l have no doubt about that !. Great days to come ,

Agreed that we collapsed in the 2nd half but the question raised should we have played the Saturday with 1 day training not saying it would have made much difference and the ref supposed to be a top ref he was a embarrassment but lads will bounce back

@Mashmarriner69 yeah I mean I've only been to Hampton, Watford and Boro so I can only talk from my point of view haha. Yeah I wish they were down in the low ends instead of all the way up there. Bar the roker end you barely get any atmosphere, me and a few others try to get it going and no one can be bothered. Maybe there's a reason we only won 7 games all last season at home and still made the playoffs🤷‍♂️

We were just really poor, simple as that. Yes, we went down to ten men, but that's no excuse for the battering we got in the second half, we were really poor. We looked tired and leggy in the first half, but Mowbray refuses to rotate this team. We're also too predictable going forward, if you can take Clarke and Roberts out of the game, we've got nothing. We really missed Pritchard's directness. Still not seen anything from Burstow that makes me think he's worth his place and still don't like O'Nien at CB. The international break came at just the right time and I really hope Mowbray uses it to have a rethink.

Its unbelievable how many Sunderland fans have gone on and on about how the ref spoilt the game by sending your player off! The ref didn't spoil the game your player did by getting a second booking for mouthing off at the ref - he didn't get sent off for mouthing off he got a second yellow which then meant red. Earlier in the game the boro player Greenwood got booked for mouthing off at the ref - so why didn't the Sunderland fans say how unfair it was that he was booked and that the ref was spoiling the game?? You got well beaten by the.much better team on the day - get over it. If you want to blame someone blame your own player for getting booked for mouthing off not the ref !!!

There were so many bad calls that game to count for both sides. 09 probably gave a pen that wasn’t called. Coburn elbowing Ballard and not getting a red. Third goal was miles offside if I recall. There was a ball that went off Roberts right in front of a lineman that they gave us the throw. It was just horrific officiating from 25 minutes into the game til the end. So yes playing with 10 men killed us. But we also folded like a tent defensively once they scored the first. Shit game. We move on.

Ref ruined it. Boro looked ok first half . We still looked more likely in the last third. Red card ruined it, but we caved. 3 at the back with Clarke as full back/winger … 3 goals started from his side, though the 3rd was clearly offside . Boro exploited our naïveté with ease

The bloke is a fraud. Being an Aussie I’ve seen plenty of him referring a-league games. He gets this massive plaudits of being a ref who is fair in his decisions and gives great credibility to every action he officiates absolute bs man. No such thing as a “good ref” none have played the game so they will never understand the general feel for the game. Cant dwell on this result. Have to come back after international break fired up and to find some momentum. HWTL.

Look Dan Neils mouth was going ten to the dozen all match till he got sent off i don't believe that was all he said to the ref because his gob never stopped moving and his arms we need to ask the ref what was said as Dan Neil will of coarse say that is all he said . The ref wasn't great but that was for both teams not just Sunderland the truth is Sunderland just gave up in the second half and wanted to blame the ref and tryinito take away a good display for Boro.UTB

The ref was a disgrace. Yet another one who thinks that the match is all about him. The game would have been a different story if Neil had kept his mouth closed, but he didn't so that's life. The players need a rest, so for the first time I don't mind the International break. Hopefully Hume and Ballard come through okay. Thanks for this, Joel. It's a tough one, but we move on.

Don’t forget we had a blatant penalty on Crooks in the first half completely ignored and Jones got a yellow card for a fair tackle when he clearly wins the ball, Neil was also lucky to still be on the pitch to begin with…the ref wasn’t just bad for you he was just as bad for us at times, your heads dropped too quickly and we took our chances, there’s nothing else to it, first half was totally even
