She also won Pike's peak hillclimb in 1985 with a slightly modified Group B Quattro (since the category was banned from WRC) After some salty comments from Bobby Unser (one of the local drivers) she responded "If you have the balls, you can try to race me back down as well"

She won German national rally championship 1986 with T 16. Only woman ever to win any full season motor sport championship. And one has to remember 1980´s were truly different on men/women relationships, todays women wouldnt believe it what it was.

Sabine Schmitz was also a force to reckon with, especially on the most dangerous track ever, the Nürburgring Nordschleife, where she lived all her life.

I'm glad you reacted to this. I was wondering if you had or if someone had recommended it. I can't wait for the day we see more women into the racing series, when real talent will make more of a difference than having money but it might be a while before that.

I watched her win the Pikes Peak hill climb in her Audi. The men claimed her vehicle didn’t comply with standards but it did. Still the men complained so they made her start from a stop when the men got to cross start line at speed. This was before the whole course was paved and very dangerous. Loved her quote ‘if they had any balls we’d race down hill’

All for women in any sport. When I was 13 Michelle blew my mind. Since we've had Sabine, Danica. And in the junior ginettas Sarah Moore is one of the most amazing drivers I've seen. She'd wait for the guy's to perform ridiculous manoeuvres. And just breeze past. Then i found out about Sir Sterling's sister Pat,wow what a woman she was!!🚘⭐❤✌

There are plenty of great female race drivers out there competing with the men and occasionally beating them. Check out the Iron Dames currently competing in the World Endurance Championship, Rahel Frey, Michelle Gatting and Sara Bovey. They are regularly winning races and they will compete in this years Le Mans 24 hour in a Lamborghini. As they said, there is no reason at all why women cannot compete against men in motorsport, the car doesn't know that a woman is driving it.

There was a all female womans global GT racing series racing panoz esperante's back in 1999 and 2000. That was the 1st racing series to have women only. Now there's the F1 ACADEMY female only formula series. There needs to be more racing like this.

Just shows and proves women can (and should only) compete with men in an open championship. No special benefits and no women's only championship. She was brilliant and all women should aim to achieve her results the results in an even playing field.

Well, at least long distance. I think it was a 100 km (60 miles) drive. Unheard of back then. She had only 1 hp, and her children had to push the car uphilll. They had to stop in every village to obtain gasoline at the pharmacy. And she did not have permission to take the car or the children on such an adventure. She just felt like it.

Il est dommage que la vidéo sur laquelle vous avez réagis, ne montre la gentillesse de Ari Vatanen. Un super gars qui reste encore aujourd'hui une personne très accessible. Il faut juste comprendre qu'à la fin des années 70 les femmes n'étaient pas beaucoup représentées dans le sport, peut etre dans le tennis plus régulièrement dans les médias. et ce jusqu'au début des années 90 ! Sinon superbe réaction sur une performance qui reste encore exceptionnelle !

The video you watched is informative and good in that way but personally I don't get why it tries to put other people down to put Mouton up. I highly recommend the documentary movie "Queen of Speed" to learn about this absolute legend and it also goes through the whole 1982 season while at it. She's narratting the movie herself with her co driver Fabrizia Pons and other rally legends of the time. You can find it free on youtube!

He is Josh Revell, pushes 'woke' agenda in his videos however he can, even if it makes no sense. In these case with the other Gr.B drivers (Rhörl and Vatanen) whom already apologised and have been in great terms with her since before he even was born (he also purposely frames what Rhörl actually said [wich was disrespectful, but there's still no need to lie]). Bit funny how he completely forgot to mention Fabrizia Pons, legendary rally codriver that raced alongside Mouton and many other greats. Also didn't he didn't say anything about Michelle's Pike's Peak win and record-setting run, he couldn't bring himself over the first paragraph on Wikipedia I guess. Anyway, besides the politics he pushes within the videos, they are overall great, but I just can't stand the guy.

that statement about walther röhrl is wrong and a lie and also a disgrace to the person that made the video! how bad of a human beeing must he be to state such bs! walther was even the person who told mouton to go to audi which she was afterwards very thankfull and mouton all the time hold walther in high regards cause he always helped her during her career! walthers intention during that infamous interview that was also wrongly translated into english was totaly different in what the media made out of it! such a disgrace to frame something like this in these words! im rly upset on how they portrait it here!

I think that she was paid A LOT of money to retire by a corrupt leader of FIA. Rally racing was barbaric and utterly moronic. Way too dangerous by any standard. So, JM Belestre, in my opinion, paid her to leave rather than make the sport safer. She is by far the greatest female driver ever, but if her career lasted longer, she may have ended up being one of the best rally drivers ever, period.
