Shanahan actually has been going for it on 4th downs a lot more this season. You almost never saw it with our previous quarterbacks but you can tell he trusts Purdy a lot more than he did Jimmy G.

Shanahan's entire playbook has opened up since Purdy took over. Was even happening last year. That's what a lot of casuals and those bashing Purdy don't understand. As someone who has watched every 49ers offensive snap for 20+ years (followed the team for 35 years), it's obvious the offense is different with Purdy in there.

I lived in the Bay Area in the days of Joe Montana and Steve Young. I think that Brock Purdy will be the next Super star QB for SF like the other 2 were. Now give SF another player that is a clone of Jerry Rice and bring back the 80's team. The Niners this year is the closest thing to it, I have seen yet.

Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers are the most injured nfl team since mid-late 90s and I think Kyle is smart not to go for it on 4th down tho he has gone for it the most he ever has this past season. I went on vacation and got back to seeing everyone doubting Purdy during their 3 game losing streak I was shook. Glad to see the team is looking synced up again. Sad to heard about Hufanga and his injury. Injuries suck no matter who it is.

I don’t think half the league is “ass” I’d just say we focus and put waaaaaay too much attention on that position more than we used to. Think of how many QB’s have played in this league and how many are hall of famers? We just can’t expect every team to have an elite QB. They do not grow on trees. This league has maybe seen 10-20 REAL ELITE QB’s in its existence. I think the problem right now is everybody wants somebody like Mahomes and if your QB can’t scramble with his legs and throw 40-70 yards down field then I guess he’s ass?

He leads the league in several categories. If it’s about overall, sure, he’s top 10. If it’s about this season alone, he’s top three, minimum. Who he throws to doesn’t matter a lick. He gets terrible pass protection and rarely throws to the first read. He’s playing elite.

This is the game where Hufanga Safety #29 got hurt. So rookie Brown had to go in. So the secondary had to get used to that situation. Brown eventually got it right… the defense lost that Super Bowl. Lenior should’ve been Nickle, Hufanga being hurt then losing Greenlaw during the game. That’s why Wilks was fired. He played Logan “cold” off vacation at Nickle and how many times did Mahomes expose that weakness. All effing game. And people always blame purdy and he had a good game.

He is t a game manager. A game manager is a Qb who the coaches do not trust to open up the playbook. Yes, the playbook is easier when you have real talent. He is not ELITE or battle tested enough to be a near elite to carry a team on his shoulders when the playbook and plays fail to materialize.
