Children are able to see the supernatural both positive and negative entities due to their innocents and their clearly of how they see the world. When they retain their innocent nature that all of us are born with the vail between our world, and the vail is so thin to children's eyes they don't see it. So, to children, elderly that are close to crossing, adults who have a pure innocent nature due to a medical condition, animals and those who have been given the gift/power will have the rear ability to see through the vail or view the other side of the vail similar to someone looking through a window or fog. Cats, owls, animals that have given birth within a cycle of the moon are special and have a strong link to the supernatural. Yes, that includes new mothers. Cats are said to have one foot here in our world with the other foot in the land of the dead. Owls, some cultures say, are not heard when in flight because they slip in and out of both worlds. And a new mother, due to the gift of bringing new life into our world, is walking extremely close to the vail. That is due to the fact of how close the mother gets to the other side at the exact moment of birth. That is also why it's said that there is nothing so close to God as a mothers love for their children. So until a child looses the innocents that they are born with, they will be able to see, speak, feel, and easily interact with the supernatural entities that are around. That is also the reason they are somewhat safer than the adults they live with. They are not able to give permission to entities, give away their souls, or invite the supernatural into homes, bodies, or lives as they don't understand or have the concept of what any of that means. Those concepts are something we all have to grow up onto knowledge and understanding along with the knowledge of what is good and bad, truth and lies, right and wrong.
