Almost the same as our shop, except for some grocery items and a post office combined. I still have some of the sweet jars. We retired the place in 1983. I used to help out and sometimes I would be weighing out the sweets. My mother would say, "Don't let the - brass sweet - scales bang! That needle has gone to be in the middle - or as near as you can get it" We used to get all our supplies from Hawkes and Slack. Down in our garage we had a full tank of paraffin for stoves and lamps. The shop was started off in 1909 by my grandmother and grandfather.

Hundreds and thousands are tiny sweets that are traditionally used to decorate cakes and are also used on ice cream. You probably know them as Sprinkles.
