Jez as long as you enjoyed both Kat and Mowie's performance, its good enough for me. I'm a Mowienatic, however I'm also a Filipino who is proud these two ladies have represented themselves as a member of the best singers in the world from the Philippines. Katrina is indeed a belter and produces some wonderful vocal works, Mowie is very technical in a way that she will give you so many ranges even within a single note, she is more inclined to bring more levels to a song. Either way I think its a win win for anyone and everyone who are followers of these two ladies. Of course having you as a reactor and appreciating their talent is a big plus and I always look forward to your reaction to them.

Your take is very well received, coming from a someone firmly in the Kat camp (KatriAnics if you like). I'm not Philippino, but I can only imagine the pride you guys must have in these two. They have monstrous ranges, that they use to fill our ears with joy. Part of the reason I like Kat so much, is the speed and accuracy of those runs. A reactor recently slowed down what I initially thought was a straight belt, only for the video to be slowed down to demonstrate that agility. Whatever the reason for my preference. I'm just glad to be around to hear these two

@@brezlowsauls9085 Philippine singers are truly underrated in some ways, well mostly they've been known only in Asia or specifically the Philippines. Meanwhile, many western countries had no idea of the existence of these two singers rn. Our singers our actually a hidden gem in Asia aside from the landscapes, wildlife and natural resources. The world must know or recognize them even before their prime. I would say Mori's tone, powerful and versatile voice really got me, Katrina impressed me by her riffs & runs, agility and lung power of how she can hold high notes for a maximum of 30 seconds. Those two are incomparable, they have their own abilities and qualities to become one of the best. Through reactors, they will excel and be known to others. I'm glad we discover them :-) . Am sure after they'll get famous, many Filipinos will follow the footsteps they take. Apparently 20-30% of Filipinos are born gifted at singing so a huge possiblity. HOPEFULLY.

It was not in the same environment, so it was not a battle. Katrina using a comb and Morissette using a microphone going through a mixer, an equalizer, and effects and amplified to cover a whole large space so no contest and cannot be compared. But, we have to be glad they are both Pinoys with superlative talents and both so peculiarly powerful and that should be enough.

Their videos are not comparable. Katrina looks like she's just playing around while cleaning the house while Morisette is professionaly singing infront of the crowd so she has to show her best. Anyways, both ladies are amazing.

Morissette is far better, she sang O holy night with whistles probably a hundred times, most of it were performed during her concerts and live stage along with 10 to 20 songs in front of huge crowd slaying the highest notes with captivating aura. Thank you sir. They are definitely different. I'm in the Katrina camp as it were, but what's there not to love about Mori. Maybe the fact that the full wait of the Philippino music industry was not thrown behind Kat to begin with , unlike Morissette (not her fault) has something to do with it. Maybe it's just that Katrina always takes the "nuclear option", but whatever it is, I'm just so glad to see this batch of powerhouses going at it

If they were actually competing against each other, with certain criteria they knew they were being judged on, then you could call it a competition. At least they were singing in the same key, but the choices they made as to things like the number of notes in the runs after the high note, and the length of the runs would depend on the settings and individual arrangements of the song. Also Morissette had the pressure and adrenaline of being in a live performance, and Katrina had the comfort of being at home. I read that these singers have loyal and competing fan bases, and things like this just gives them a chance to be in conflict. Did the fans of one singer choose the examples or the "competition" itself ?

@@JezPrada I think Katrina feels that she is always being considered "good, but not as good as Morissette", so instead of being judged on her own merit, there is always this comparison aspect, which might sometimes effect her own attitudes. Here is an example - Do you remember that time in "Akin Ka Na Lang" after the whistle tone when Morissette went 14.8 sec. without a breath ? Katrina has a KZbin video called "Lung Power" where at the beginning they take a series of her long held notes and phrases from performances with a timer in the corner of the screen. The ending of the video is just her sitting there making attempts for singing the longest stretch without a breath (31 sec.) - and I don't think it's a coincidence that she is using "Akin Ka Na Lang" to do it. I'm hoping she herself has gone beyond feeling inferior due to the comparisons, and unfortunately the 2 groups of fans will do what they will. I just feel fortunate to be able to hear both of them.

Both katrina and mori are the best vocalist in this generation theres no doubt about it they can belt they can whistle. But mori has her own style she sing a song on her own way katrina sometimes doing some other singers version like go the distance, watch regine go the distance cover way back 90's the same version used by katrina its almost the same. The last part of katrinas performance where she held the note longer is the only different to regines version bcoz we all know katrina can belt.

Morisette all the way.... both are great singers but Morisette is one of the top female vocalists in the world right now... Morisette has so much control that she can even put vibrato in her whistle tone... Katrina can hit it just to hit it but no control over it, so it sounds messy.. I’d much rather just have Katrina just sing and belt out the high notes, but her whistles sounds forced and messy. JUST SAYING...
