Ey up duck!
Adam sent me a smile line hack video and when I watched it I was shocked that it was recommended to put gel polish on your fingers to create smile lines so I decided to make a video teaching you guys smile line hacks that are actually safe, keep watching!
I’ll be using the Aleana hand for this video I have her all loaded up with tips and we will start out with getting some base coat on these and cure those.
Next up I’ll be giving these a full cover with a selection of nude gels and in order of application we are using No Filter, Hayley, Birthday Suit, and Ruth and I’ll be giving those two coats each.
Right!
Hack Number One
So we are going to do the same thing as on the video here except for one little BIG! difference and that is da da daaa! We are going to wear a glove duck! That latex barrier is going to allow you to achieve the same thing just without developing an allergy, so ill pop on a latex glove I’ll take my gel polish make a stroke across the glove, and then we can press the nail into that.
Hack Two
I have here a beaten up Jelly stamper ill clean any fibers or fuzzies off using a sticker (Nail forms work great) then ill place a stroke of Gel on the stamper position my nail behind the Gel and then press the gel into the stamper and that works alright too but as with the last hack, it just leaves a little bit too much gel on the nail for my liking.
Hack Three
And this one is the business ladies, place a bit of gel on a pallet and take a liner brush I’m using the Lily Liner it works great for this and creates lines coming down at a 45° Angle creating like a V shape that doesn’t quite meet up we will make a horizontal line going through those then we can just round the hard edges and then use the bottle brush to fill in the rest of the smile line and then give it a second coat.
Hack Four
For Hack number four I will place a blob of gel on my pallet and then take a design needle we want it to be a raised blob so the design needle can pick up a decent amount of the product then we just draw that smile line on to the nail and then we can either draw in the whole thing of fill in the rest with the bottle brush and again we will do two coats of that.
Hack Five
For our fifth method of creating a safe smile line we will start by taking a 3D brush I’m using the Adam 3D and some cleanup solution then I’ll take my smile line color and ill roughly create my smile line using the bottle brush making sure I create the smile line larger than I need It then I’ll dip my 3D brush into the cleanup solution and paddle it out on a lint-free pad removing any excess then I can use my 3D brush to carve into the wet gel on the nail to create a lovely smile line! Easy peasy, give that a second coat, and then we can give these a topcoat and that’s it!
I hope you enjoyed this video if you got value from this content please consider subscribing for more!
T’Rah Duck!
Lots a Love KM xoxo

Yup, I think it’s important we must consider the source when absorbing info from anyone on Social Media and even the organic way ( talking directly to people ) nice to see pros talking about the miss information or mis guided info. 💛thanks Kirsty & Adam

Thanks Susie. It totally shocked me when I saw it. Firstly because of the ridiculousness of it, but then because it was such a large beauty related page that posted it. They should have a duty of care not to misinform people. Shocking behaviour! Hope you’re well A x

But both of you, are touching the clients skin, with the acrylic brush, monomer bath, what are going to say about that? Because it's very dangerous!

Honestly they have both talked about keeping acrylic and polygel off of skin for the issues of allergic reactions. I think we have to keep in mind that no one is perfect, no one is ever going to NEVER accidentally get something on the skin, but the goal is to not do that and to get it off as quickly as possible. Also we need to remember that what we see them do is probably in their worst most difficult circumstances because they are making a video and focusing on keeping the work in view of the camera, so they have an impeded view and cannot move the hand as much as they normally would. Whereas in person without the limit of making a good video, they can move the hand, turn the fingers, and see unimpeded, so even the minor mistakes we see on camera are not what they do to actual clients.

I'm so glad you're talking about this. This seriously needs to become a series on this channel. The amount of misinformation on social media just about nails is staggering. There was one time I had a girl try to tell me that the reason an e-file sometimes makes a burning sensation on your nail plate when you're filing off gel is because "the e-file makes the gel melt into your natural nail". 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ And that's just the tip of the iceberg. So yeah, this *really* needs to become a series. I'm sure there's plenty of videos out there for you to debunk.

E file doesn't make gel melt into nail. Rings of fire happen when there too much friction between the bit or sanding band or even hand file and natural nail which causes a burning sensation and ring of white on nail. People need to educate themselves properly about these tools and products before using them on themselves or clients so many people just think being a nail technician or doing nails is easier with professional tools when it takes lots practice and education. Some hacks may work but using these tools and products need to be done safely
@Nails_By_Kimberlee
@Nails_By_Kimberlee 2 жыл бұрын
@@michaellaclark1148 yeah, I tried to tell her all of that. Even tried to explain about the rotation of the e-file bit and friction=heat but she was adamant that it was her gel melting into her nail. I think she said that's what her nail tech told her. It was a very frustrating conversation lol

I' had a reaction on my skin from getting gel accidentally on my nails and now I can't use anything, including acrylic, glue or anything! The allergic reaction that developed was painful and ruined not only my nails, but my finger tips for close to a year! Folks, I had not only redness, swelling, and blisters, but also liquid oozing out from underneath my nails. I used band aids to cover the shame and ugliness of the reaction for months. I also lost a ton of investment in the lamps, drills, tips, gel polish, etc. Luckily, I have become quite happy with regular nail polish. Kirsty is so right! DO NOT PUT THESE PRODUCTS ON YOUR SKIN! Thank you, Kirsty, for the education you provide on your channel! This is a matter of health, and should not be taken lightly!

Same here. It happened just from the messy applications in my early days of learning, but it was enough to trigger an allergic reaction on my sensitive skin exactly like what described and now I can't use any of the nail enhancement products on the market. It was a hobby I really enjoyed and invested a good bit of money into and now I can't use it. Such a shame.

I just started painting and playing with my nails about 2 years ago (better 35 years late, than never🤷‍♀️😆)…and I really appreciate you helping folks like me! Because I’m so new to ALL of this stuff (I wasn’t allowed to paint them as a kid/teen and then I *couldn’t* grow/paint/decorate nails in my previous career) …so despite approaching my 40’s, I’m legitimately ignorant enough to fall for a lot of these potentially dangerous “hacks” and misinformation! You’re genuinely helping people like me (and more importantly-young and impressionable viewers) stay safe, while we are starting to explore this incredibly beautiful, joyful and creative art form! So, *thank you!* ☺️💝👍

I see so many nail techs putting gel on their skin or wiping gel off with their fingers. I always worry about it and yell at the screen NO! I am not even a nail tech I am only a DIYer. I use plastic tips all the time, I find the glue does not last so I use acrylic to attach mine and soak them off

Hi Kirsty I’ve just been rewatching one of your videos with the wonderful Fay. You were talking about stokiese and I thought you might have a chuckle about this little tale. I spent a week in hospital before my eldest son was born and while I was in there a woman from Derby came into the ward and she subsequently had a little boy who she named Connor. I love the name but I struggled to keep a straight face when she said what his surname was going to be…. His name was Connor Cope. To anyone else from around the UK this is a perfectly good name but in Stoke it just isn’t quite right because as you know we tend to say dunna, wunna and conna instead of don’t,won’t and can’t anyway you probably understand what I mean and maybe you can explain it to your followers who don’t get it xx

Use hole reinforcer stickers, like for binder paper/dividers, as guides for a rounded smile line. That’s an old school one, though. From a good 35+ years ago. You could also use the dot stickers. I recall some girls even using the reinforcers as the ‘polish’ on the tip. They’d just paint over it with top coat.

I don't mind the jelly stamper hack because I can't get my smile lines crisp, and even, no matter what I do. I've tried using different liner, and detailer, brushes. I've tried putting the bulk of the gel on, then cleaning up the smile line with gel brushes, alcohol and acetone. I shake from spinal surgeries, so my smile lines come out shakey, uneven and just ugh. I'm going to try using the pointed end of a picker tool because that actually looks pretty easy, so thank you for this video!

I bite my nails, so they are SUUUUUPER short, like I have a good 3-4 mm of skin after my nails end. If I am doing really well controlling it, I may get a miniscule free edge past the actual nail bed, so I don't have use for a french tip on my hands unless I am getting acrylic nails for a special occaision, but for toes if I do a french I use a nail dot tool and do like you did with the gem tool. But I don't use gel polish.

So glad you’re talking about it because let me tell you I was in Nail School I am a beginner NAIL TECH and I’ve gotten monomer on my hands and nobody told me that that would give me a reaction had to learn that the hard way when all my fingertips peeling off and bleeding in the only thing that close the wound was wound gel from CVS OK and constant Band-Aids until they were closed to this day I still have peeling and that’s been six months and gel polish if you get it on your skin you need to wash it off immediately it creates dermatitis if you are a lucky person and I never happens congratulations but majority of people will get dermatitis why do they wanna be open to understanding that or not so I am over the moon happy that you are saying something about that because in the words of Jeffree star “can’t relate“ to some stupid nail hack like that I mean at least put saran wrap on your hand if you’re going to do that maybe that would work as a Nail heck yeah and that’s if you’re doing someone else is NAILS! not ur own plus it’s DIRTY! Sounds good to me. If you are strengthening over it with clear gel or acrylic.

I keep seeing videos of nail polish jobs, Classic laquer, gel polish and smile lines, that are slapped on and done using tricks that are crap. I keep thinking that Kirsty would freak.

Some people have used things for years and are confident they will be fine. But you can develop an allergy after repeated use or actions. Better safe than sorry 😘

OMG Kirsty, I cannot tell you how much I want (and have for 2 decades) french toes, but EVERY nail salon I go to wont do them 😢 I had to do them myself and since the lockdowns when all we did was EAT I now cant reach my toes to do them

Just practice at this point, like if you do any of these you’ll still need to clean them up which will take the same amount of time as doing a French anyways so just do it and use that time to practice. Which each French your closer to the perfect French.

@Liz Garcia there’s a difference, that’s just a tiny amount she’s not painting the whole finger tip like that video 😬, I have gel allergies and I still wipe a tiny amount from the sides I just wipe it off with acetone and a wipe

I remember those white pencils I had some too. 😅 I think they might still sell them at chain store here called Sally's. Every time I watch that hack on social media with gel on the skin I want to reach in the phone and spray them with a water bottle! Bad! bad SM influencer!

*if* I use press ons or full cover tips I use gel because it helps fill in any gaps between my natural nails and the fake ones. Idk if I have an odd curvature to my nails (they are pretty narrow) or what but everything on the market is either too tight or too wide and even the wide ones don't sit flush to the nail. Been thinking about doing the hack where you attach the nail about 2/3rds of the way up and just filling the rest but that defeats the purpose of lots of pre-painted press ons and by that time I might as well just do my dang nails in my opinion.
