I asked my new Swedish roommate to put together a bunch of viral Swedish videos that I might have missed over the years. I'm sure there are plenty of other famous videos from Sweden, so let me know what I should react to next!

@@jerplusjeff It's Queen's English because it's what they used to teach in schools in Sweden before I think 2008. Then they started to teach words like lift, trash, sidewalk, etc. Instead of Elevator, Rubbish, Pavement.

This video is actually way more funny than the original memes! You and your new roommate really nailed it! Leif GW Persson: What I love about him is that he doesn't care at all about giving a good impression. He is extremely intelligent, but at the same time extremely frank. He is like a scruffy hedgehog grunting about its own business. The car meme: That is a Volvo 240, a model that was produced between 1974 and 1993. The Volvo V70 was produced between 1997 and 2016.

That was awesome, Meagan and Cecilia, tack så mycket! I moved to Sweden (Stockholm) about 4 months ago and have recently been on the hunt for Swedish memes (literally typed "Swedish memes" into KZbin and this was one of the first things to appear XD Definitely gonna drop a couple of this in front of my Swedish friends haha. And yes please do more, I just subscribed!! Självklart tar det tid att lära sig ett språk, men något som underlättar är att försöka läsa och höra språket så mycket som möjligt. Good luck! You often understand more than you think, keep studying and it will likely go well. Of course, it takes time to learn a language, but something that makes it easier is to try and read and listen to the language as much as possible.

Ive never understood people laughing at or mocking that girl in the call show. She went above and beyond saving that. Moat girls I know wouldnt even show up if they felt like that. The Dandy lion trick I learned as a little kid. One would sing " mama had a baby and its head popped off" I know it's sick but it was also the 70s. Things were a little more open and permissible then as well as twisted.

We popped the heads off dandelians in Canada too as kids. I think we had a little rhyme to it. Also had a rhyme that ended with someone rubbing it on your arm as it left some yellow on your skin. Canadians do the weather thing too...people we know, people we don't.

I can't believe I have not subscribed until now. BTW, my family apparently hails from the island of Oland there in Sweden (I'm in USA). As such, you can figure out my Surname. If not, Cecilia can probably fill you in. I enjoyed this video very much. The last clip in this video made me think the boy was specifying how his parents went to a restaurant and left him at home.....so the boy letting his parents know he is going to be watching a TV show that's inappropriate for kids his age is his way of getting back at them so that they realize they should not leave him at home when they go to a restaurant.

It is Norwegian, but "E de här de e party" is a classic still. Also "En sån här chans får man bara en gång i livet". There's so many more as people have stated. However, I do think the lack of memes is due to mainly choosing memes in English about Sweden. Just pick ones in Swedish, for example there's like a billion about Stockholm vs other parts of the country.

Yes, the dandelion was a thing when I grew up. There was also a little saying that went along with it, "Blank" had a baby and it's popped off" and flick the flower head at them. Yea it was pretty dumb but it was the '70s and I was in the single digits. We had games on the playground I can't even name here. 🤐

It may not be a thing in the USA anymore, but when I was a kid (in the late 1960's and through the 1970's) popping dandelions in someone's face WAS a thing. It was something little kids did to each other, to an unsuspecting friend. "My momma had a baby and its head popped off." On "popped" was when you popped the flower off of the stem into your friend's face. I am sure that phrase is horrifying to you. When we were little it had no meaning. It was just something to say so that you could pop the flower into your friend's face.

You might like "Ballongdansen", with Sven Melander, from I think the TV show Nöjesmassakern. There is one really funny commercial about a Swede in the US (maybe in New York?), that does very Swedish stuff and it's so funny and true. Like he's in the office and they're getting ready for a meeting, and his colleague, in cowboy hat and suit, asks him "how are you?" and he starts answering "Well I had a little argument with my wife.." and the US guy just says "That's great!" and pats him on his back, he's not even listening. I'd love to know what that commercial was because I've been trying to remember for YEARS now. I'd love to know what it was.
