Thanks for your reaction To understand how dedicated to their art, on this song they got to use fun technology like they use fir the Mandalorion effects. But they had one problem after another. First J None's plane was three hours late (he was stationed in Washington State at the time). And then they were in a heat wave in Florida and the AC went out. With all that fur they were wearing I can only imagine how hot they were. But they pushed through and produced one amazing video.

Incredible arrangement by Layne (beatboxer) - and he pushed the guys' voices to the limit! The joy with VP is their genre range and whatever you choose in your favourite genre should be awesome. I love the rock and progressive pop covers. Black Hole Sun is their latest offering. I loved it from the moment I heard it. Have fun on this journey! 🌹🕊

They have many more talents than you might suspect. Three of them arrange music for VP (Geoff, Layne & Eli). And whomever arranges the music also heads up the video filming day. Layne (beatbox & baritone) is co-owner of a production studio with a former VP baritone (Tony Wakim). The two of them (PattyCake Productions) also make music videos with original music that they write. Layne also often does the initial audio mix to hand off to their final mixer, as well as the video editing. Eli (rhymes with jelly) is the rock tenor you heard here popping off way up there (hair challenged), but he also does all the lighting and usually any computerized background. The only things actually on set for this were the tables and benches. Everything else was done by Eli in the program UnReal Engine. That's turned out to be especially fortunate on this set, as the air conditioning broke down in Florida on a 90+ degree day with all that fur to be worn. That thankfully meant that at least there wasn't real fire in torches, etc that day. Even the outdoor scenes were done by him. No real sea, ships or clouds. Cesar, the baritone/tenor with the shaved sides of his head is probably the one with the best acting chops. In other songs he will wring your heart out and leave you in tears. Hard to believe that with as fierce as he was here. And J None (the rapper in this particular video, others rap in other videos) is a former baritone of VoicePlay, who is now singing bass for the Navy group 'Sea Chanters' in DC. He writes his own stuff, too. Fortunately for the Playas, he comes back regularly to record with VP during the time the Navy allows him leave. Geoff (pronounced like Jeff) has his own KZbin channel, where he (and his wife Kathy) do almost everything themselves. He might call Eli in for automating lighting or sometime Layne will run the SteadyCam for him, but often it is just the two of them and multiple cameras. He excels at being in multiple places at once in his videos. We call all the Geoffs his clones or the Geoffettes. He sings ALL the vocals and harmonies and plays whatever plug-ins needed on his keyboard. Then, of course does the video edit. All of them have amazing ranges. I would guess from listening that they all have a minimum of 3 octaves, but I bet it is actually more like 4 or even 5. I just have not sat down to mark who has what notes. I know Geoff is 5 octaves for sure.

Loving the interesting facts you guys are throwing at me! Learn something new everything! This is awesome learning a new group like this 🤟🏽

That's the Karaoke portion at the end that makes it easier to hear the other vocalists instead of the lead singer. Geoff (Jeff also known as Dragon Breath and Foghorn), Eli (high tenor - Rock God -sounds like jelly), Cesar (baritone/tenor, Sassy), Layne (beatboxer, violinist (in 3 videos over 25 yrs), Carrot Lord and VioLayne), J None (was a member of VP until the US Navy recruited him for their chorus - comes when he can to do some video). We fans will be here as often as you do these Geoff solos and VoicePlay videos because we love to see our reactors hearing and seeing what we've heard and seen over the years. Never get tired of them. You will enjoy Black Hole Sun, Creep is out there too (Eli did the project for that one - usually it's Geoff or Layne.)

Glad to see your enjoyment! It's also a good idea to have their captions on. They sometimes include in-jokes or snarky comments 😁. In "just Sing" they give information about all the fantastic folks they have collaborated with. edited to add - definitely add Black Hole Sun, but there's I doubt there's anything thev've done that you won't enjoy. Just throw a dart!

It's lovely to see new reactors to VoicePlay and Geoff. (Say it as Jeff) They deserve so much more attention than they get. It's largely because they are independent, so don't get the publicity that some other groups get from recording companies. Just to point out that they do it all themselves, apart from the final mix which is professionally done. They arrange a song, produce the backgrounds, costumes, sing, film, edit, and so on. It's all them. There was a behind the scenes on the Drunken Sailor, you can always go back and watch that. But not on this one.

Sometimes you get behind the scenes at the end, sometimes a monologue, sometimes just the karaoke track and credits. You never know with these guys. Geoff is a phenomenon and it's not at all unusual to be captivated by what he can do, but if you can manage to tear your attention away from the bass you'll start to notice that all of his colleagues are forces to be reckoned with and are doing some pretty amazing stuff too. Looking forward to more reactions!

They create a karaoke track for their patrons. They have been using that for the outro music. No melody, just the insane harmonies and beatboxing. Black Hole Sun is amazing. They don't always go for costume and makeup, but even when they just sing, they are phenomenal. Miracle of Sound watched/listened to this and gave them a rating of 10 raised ale horns out of 10.
@hwyla44166 ай бұрын
Miracle of Sound (the song's writer/composer) also told Peter Barber in a recent interview, that VPs cover was his fave, especially as he felt it was the most creative. He did say they were a bit 'naughty' adding lyrics without telling him, but he felt the addition (the rap) fit really well, so he couldn't hold it against them. The rap was written for VoicePlay by Alfredo Austin, who has written another rap for them in their cover of Stevie Wonder's "Superstition".

Bass singer's name is pronounced like Jeff. Don't feel bad though. Many reactors mispronounce it until someone corrects them.
