I totally agree with you about discerning whether or not the experience and goals of the author align with ourselves first. I like to listen to an interview with the author from their press tour, while driving or during exercise, before I consider buying a book.

Yes! What I found with this book/author is that I actually feel like I got more out of her "practical examples" in videos where she did her method with others, so I was hoping to get more out of the book than I did! But I guess it also makes sense that when speaking or working with a client she would be in her "element" as as stylist, rather than as an author, since most of her job is probably actually working with people and their clothes in real life/in practical examples.

I don't have three words for you, more like a description: to me, your style is like a really cool, smart librarian in an alternate universe where the librarians are the awesomest and most people are indifferent to athletes. In this wonderful place with books floor to ceiling, you are the one I seek out for the best book recommendations.

Congratulations!!!! From here it looks like progress! I remember you saying you used to be easily influenced and would adopt things without considering if they the things you adopted were right for you. But now, you recognize that the perspective of the influencer who wrote a book may not be relevant to your priorities and experience. That perspective applied to other situations will help you be more intentional about how you spend your money.

I went to a concert the other night, not something I do often now that I’m 30 with kids. I was wearing jeans, comfy shoes, a basic t shirt, brought a jacket, hair in a braid. I was there to enjoy the music! So many concerts of my 20’s I was cold and uncomfortable for the sake of looking fashionable. I was thinking about your discussions on personal style, because the venue was full of people in all kinds of crazy outfits. I’m sure some genuinely dress with wacky or bold personal style, but seeing the crowd in mass dressed a certain way, I could just tell this is not what these people usually wear! Just a bunch of people wearing cute concert outfits but many looked uncomfortable. It felt like everyone was trying to convey a certain thing about themselves that was not genuine. It was fascinating and sad?? Anyway, I’m probably just jaded and realizations like that make me want to lean further into minimalist styles.
@Alexas.nobuyyear3 ай бұрын
Haha oh, us jaded 30 and 30-somethings...I feel it too. I want to find the balance of "fun/fashionable" AND practical, because I'm not okay with being uncomfortable (in any way!) anymore in my outfit, no matter the occasion. The last concert I attended I think I wore a similarly basic "regular" outfit, my touch of crazy was adding a purple lipstick, which was a quick and easy way to make it "not an everyday look". I know that method won't be for everyone either, and in some cases wearing unconventional makeup can be uncomfortable too!

I haven't watched the video yet, but I wanted to recommend a book called "Worn: a People's History of Clothing" by Sofi Thanhauser (which I'm still in the process of reading). This is part of the summary: "From the women who transformed stalks of flax into linen to clothe their families in nineteenth century New England to those who earn their dowries in the cotton-spinning factories of South India today, this book traces the origins of garment-making through time and around the world. Exploring the social, economic and environmental impact of our most personal possessions, Worn looks beyond care labels to show how clothes reveal the truth about what we really care about." It's really putting me off consumerism, and I think you might appreciate its content :)

I really agree with this sentiment. I have read a lot of styling advice but for example right now I am working and I have a little kid. To me fashion is fun and I do care what I look like but it's not my priority or my job things to be practical and work for me. As you said clothes are a part of my life not the focus! I don't think that it's that obvious even for example style influencers on ticktock its their job/career so its fundamentally a different way of viewing clothes/fashion/style Xx

I don't think it's a you problem. I think these things like Which shoe matches the outfit, universal clothes, and are you a spring, summer, whatever are all constructs in the fashion world. Not everything has to match, be perfectly put together, and there can be style in mismatching. And it's not the stylist's fault either because a big part of their job is to be on trend and to play into social constructs regarding fashion. I think there's two ways people look at style: objective and subjective, so not everyone agrees on how to go about it.
@juliehanson11754 ай бұрын
I had kind of a low bar for this book too, but it did deliver more than I thought it would. I liked the 3 word method and it made sense to me (mostly sporty, with some classic and minimal) - so yeah, I can skip boho, vintage, hard (edgy), etc. because they are pretty "extra" for me. Totally agree with you on trench coats. My climate does not lend itself to that at all - if it rains, it's usually too cold, otherwise it's just too impractical.

Ive got 4 of them ( maybe 5) which I was ‘influenced’ in the same way to buy and rarely ( maybe one of once a year) wear any of them. I really like your style. I think your 3 words are relaxed, classic & casual

What bothers my with many stylist, is that everything is about looking mainstream stylish, personal twist or not, you will still blend in with the crowd. And for me, the people that impress me with there style are not that. Also, many mainstream stylish people fall under the category of "it looks good because she is skinny/pretty". Also I actually despise universal items, even well fitting jeans make me feel "meh" (I am just not a pants person). Button ups never look right, and I don't understand the purpose of a jeans jacket, since it's any cardigan keeps me warmer on a chilly evening. Also, after typing this comment, I realized that I need to stop trying to blend in :D

I totally agree with you on the tight pants thing. I think this is why i looked up to HLP's style so much: she showed me how i could wear oversized clothes and feel stylish, which was groundbreaking after years of living in loose sweatpants (and feeling out of place at times because of it-- if a person feels comfortable in sweatpants i dont think that needs to change, but for me it was awesome finding that i could enjoy style and be comfy)

I would also love to know what 3 words you connect with and try to emulate. I loved your look book at the end, it was hard to pair down to 3 words but I would go with casual, cool and funky (plus breezy as a bonus one)

I chose "relaxed" for the practical word, "artistic" for the aspirational, and "cool" for the "emotional/how I want to feel" 😁 so pretty similar to your choices! I probably will do some "week-in-outfits" videos this Fall, so I can try to revisit this and try and talk through how I feel each element is at play with some of the "looks"
@jennaj.10724 ай бұрын
My words for you are Relaxed, Sporty and Architectural. I like the 3 word approach, but not Bornstein's method of choosing said words. Mainly it's the aspirational word I don't like, I want my words to describe me as I am now (because I am enough). 😄 Mine are Comfortable (=loose-fitting, casual), Simple (=solid colors, boxy shapes, simple patterns) yet Whimsical (=quirky details, pairing opposites, something fun).
@bthomson4 ай бұрын
Nice choices would think you would be both comfortable and noticeable!
@Alexas.nobuyyear4 ай бұрын
That's a good point! I guess if we think the "aspirational" word is also something that's already inside ourselves, and it's more about "bringing out that aspect" - but it is a difficult one to frame through a lens of current contentment.

I agree with you. Mine are, at least for now: simple, boyish, harmonic. Not because I aspire to be boyish, but I like such style/cuts. For me they are just helpful frames, not some complex philosophy 😊

Oh that is funny. I have been wearing a trenchcoat since highschool. I have a more classic/vintage inspired style. A trenchcoat is my number one most worn piece. I grew up in the suburbs and now live in a rainy city so a trenchcoat works really well. I do know that none of my friends wear trenchcoats so I think it is a matter of preference. It definitely doesn't work for everyone's style but I personally have always loved them. I'm very picky about how they look though, need them to go past my knees and I prefer them to be loose and not double breasted.

When I was in middle/high school, "trench coat guy" was synonymous with "fedora guy" and "wolf shirt guy". I'm glad these clothes can be worn now without a negative connotation because I want people to dress freely in what they like, but it's really funny that these are seen as classic staples when they were so divisive in my youth

We also don't wear clothes that have been outside in the bed for the same reason) We moved overseas a few years ago to a city where the streets are a lot dirtier than where we used to live and there's always dog poop and human piss on the sidewalks, and we have gotten more strict about not wearing shoes in the house. What amazes me is that we're unique in this city and everyone I've met, whether they're local or immigrants like us, wears shoes in their homes... Casual, mismatched and Maximalist. Disclaimer ⚡️ I hear the book 📕 (not sure what images are inside) I’m also not American no clue what brands are popular up there and I’m low income person and a mom. Maybe those factors can influence my opinion. I actually like the book, I enjoy all the little exercises and advice. l feel the book can be useful no matter whos reading it. She does give some famous people names, but everyone knows who’s Diana the princess and how she dress, it’s useful to understand the word method. She also goes into each different clothing piece like jeans,shirts. I never feel she was pushing a brand. I like the idea of the ritual. It can be complicated for people who have to much stuff, but if you have small quantities opening the door of your closet can be a very pleasant experience. I have a small closet and every-time I open the door I get excited about it. Specially whit my little kids, makes dressing easy and fast, instead of “where’s my bla blah cloths” anyway I think is a good book. Does she used photos? I wonder if that can make someone feel different?
@Alexas.nobuyyear4 ай бұрын
There are photos and actually I really enjoyed the photos and layout of the actual book! It felt well-designed and pleasing to look at. It's also possible that I would feel different if I listened to the book (does the author narrate the audiobook?) because maybe hearing in someone else's voice, some of the things would make more sense than reading it in MY voice. This is an interesting thought. I'm happy to hear you found it to be good! Would you believe I actually don't know any of Princess Diana's styles? The only thing I heard about from her clothing is the "revenge dress" and I don't know if that is what we are supposed to imagine for her general "style" 😅 but it just shoes that I am living under a rock and maybe most people will know more of these examples of people!

Caveat: I love consuming style content and would love to be a stylist. However, after watching a lot of videos with Alison Bornstein - either featuring her or just featuring her work - I’m very conflicted. On the one hand, her 3-word method has actually proven to be a real game changer for me, but she’s not the only person who uses a 3-word method. Other than that, I find her work to be extremely boring. I think her style is boring, and most of the clients I’ve seen of hers are just… boring. Nothing wows me. So overall, my question about her is, “does she have great STYLE, or is she just tall, skinny, wealthy and extremely well-connected?” I feel like it’s the latter, honestly.

I would say your words are comfortable, structured, easy. From your examples you tend to pick something with a tailored shape be it a blazer, tailored pants or a structed purse and match it with an easy/comfortable piece like a tshirt and then add easy/comfortable to wear shoes. My three words for you don't follow the rules of each fitting into a category, but they were just the first words that came to mind seeing your choices as someone who has never read the book so i wasn't influenced by the suggested choices I imagine were offered by he author.

Clothing can enhance and draw attention to your own beauty. You have a lovely face, enchanting eyes, gorgeous hair, a wonderfully slender neck, amazing collarbones, and great shoulders. The outfit from today's selection that looks the best on you is the one around minute 23.37, with slate gray pants and the white tube top, slightly softened by the billowy white shirt. That outfit moves the eye up to your face and lets you shine. You feel happy in it. In comparison, the t-shirts with statements and pictures draw the eye to your midriff first. And bright shoes draw the eye right down to your feet. I think you could incorporate more of the elements of your performance clothes into what you wear every day. Your personality comes across as sincere, analytic, and articulate. Perhaps your style lies in that direction, too.

Thank you for this thoughtful comment, (and I'm flattered by your compliments 🫣) I'll probably notice some of these details now that you have mentioned them! For me I think there is a bit of a question of whether I want to look "good/my best" or if I just want to "have fun" (hence the graphic tees, the shoes) and I guess I don't know if my style in general is more focused on the idea of looking the best, or fun with clothes. This is actually an interesting overall idea to me, so I might revisit this at some point!

Combining what you have said (as this is more telling about your style) and your outfits I’d say your three words are Practical/Comfortable, Creative and Neat. I honestly feel that some of your structural bags don’t fit with the rest of your vibe as they appear perhaps a little too controlled. However the Polene across body and the more relaxed shoulder bag look great. Both are neat yet have a relaxed, practical, natural vibe to them. That’s my opinion for what it is worth……

Yes! Another commenter mentioned too that it might be just that I'm lucky enough to not absolutely need to get things tailored to work, which is a very good point. The most typical "issue" I have is that sleeves/pants are slightly too short, and I haven't historically purchased garments that are high quality enough to have the allowance to be "let out" in those areas. Otherwise I can also get away with things being oversized and therefore NOT tailored since I'm quite tall and also don't personally mind the more androgynous or breezy look of "less fitted" clothes. So my perspective has been opened! And I'm happy/relieved to hear that it is not expensive for practical adjustments! Also funny enough I never considered trench coats in colors that aren't khaki or beige - a navy one actually sounds lovely, although I will remind myself that I initially didn't feel that I needed a trench coat, so I don't need to go looking into a navy one 🤣 I'm not sure I'm seeing a tag notification (could be me, I'm not the most tech savvy!) but if it's Allison's own video I will go check that out! I haven't totally given up on the method, even if the book didn't really speak to me!

The three word thing really gets on my nerves. It wouldn’t be helpful at all when shopping; one could use it to rationalize any purchase or not. The brief ubiquity of these style philosophies (Smilovic, too) and similar bursts of identical trend bla-bla on social media makes me think of that scene in Life of Brian where Brian says to his followers (whom he doesn’t want and didn’t ask for): “You’re all individuals!” And they all respond in expressionless unison: “We’re all individuals.” I think it’s more everything else going on in the world, but I find I’m less interested in fashion YT than ever. I find it irritating not relaxing. The only ones I relate to are the ones consistently deinfluencing and celebrating people wearing what they already have, like yourself. Otherwise 'personal style' is just the new fantasy self! For my part, I’ve enjoyed gathering what I have over time and I want to wear it and combine it to get a bit of joy and beauty in a day. All these rules and brand obsessions sound increasingly detached from reality, even to a person interested in clothes as creative expression. Relatedly, pretty clueless influenced-influencers having to hire Bornstein to tell them to wear a t-shirt with jeans, then getting on Indyx to sell their parasocial relationship to followers in the guise of supposed stylists is a new low in the medium of shaking coins out of your audience’s pockets. In a friendly way: please don’t apologize throughout your think pieces. One diplomatic disclaimer upfront and in your description is enough, I think! You’re as entitled to your opinion as anyone else and if anyone disagrees, they can juice your engagement stats in the comments. (:
@Alexas.nobuyyear3 ай бұрын
Oh I think I might have to revisit Life of Brian, that sounds excellent. I am also reaching that point of letting go of all the fashion YT content I used to watch, and I guess my priorities have shifted - I'd love to see more creators who ONLY do deinfluencing, "trend critiquing," or wear-what-you-have content while hardly ever bringing in anything new, because I'm increasingly unwilling to sift through content that I don't want to watch just to wait for the kinds of "fashion content" that I do enjoy. I guess that's partly why I'm here, although I can't bring myself to do too many fashion videos while I have other "anti-consumerist" ideas to talk through 😅 Thank you for the friendly advice - I'll try to remember this! It's hard for me to have "negative" or "critical" opinions of the work of others and I'm still figuring out how to present these things in a useful way, since everyone has their own life experience and etc. and I'm keenly aware that my opinion could be just as invalid to someone with the experience to match what I'm criticizing. BUT, I am getting to the point where I think certain practices are just objectively unethical (especially in the realms of online influencing), which means I feel better about defending a critical position about them! Finally! Haha

Disclaimer: I haven't read the book because I know from experience that I don't get much out of style books. I just watched quite some content from and with Bornstein. Your 3 words: Can't speak on your 2nd or 3rd word, since those are personal. But my ideas for your 1st word are: relaxed, easy, effortless. Now onto my notes! 3 words method: Theoretically I like this idea of creating a personal style statement. However, in practice, it just doesn't help me much. You need to fill these 3 words with meaning yourself. Simple, classic, relaxed. What does that mean? I find style systems that describe meanings to words and that can be learned more useful: casual with classic influences and minimal styling (Wonder Wardrobe), Mushroom/Stone/Earth (Style Roots), perhaps even Soft Natural (Kibbe) and Natural-Classic (Kitchener Essences). I find learning a method and some vocabulary (objective approach) more helpful than making up random words based on how I feel (subjective approach). "9 timeless pieces for every woman": I immediately dislike any stylist that gives you a list of essential items everyone needs. Because it just doesn't exist. Style is personal and lifestyles vary a lot. I do feel like her method/book is very much catered to young-ish city women in fashion who want to create stylish and modern outfits. And for those people this list of 9 pieces might apply. But it's not universal. My favourite style educator is and will always be Daria Andronescu with her Wonder Wardrobe method. Because she teaches systems that can be applied by all women and that result in personal and functioning wardrobes. A note on tailoring: Maybe you are just lucky that items fit you off the rack and you don't NEED to get them tailored. I am short and get almost all blouses and about half of the trousers I buy shortened in order to make them fit me. I doubt that I will ever find a blazer that fits me (small but bigger chest). Pretty sure I will have to get one custom-made. So be lucky! :D

I had to dig around for my own copy of the book (yes I have it 😂) cause I agree with you on the point about closet essentials. Allison does clarify, she doesn’t think there are must haves that should be in every person’s wardrobe. But that the silhouettes described are the building blocks of a functional wardrobe. However, I wish she had provided alternatives to illustrate that, like the blazer and trenchcoat in her list are specific types of outerwear that aren’t my essentials.
@Alexas.nobuyyear4 ай бұрын
Thank you for these very thoughtful notes! And I really love Daria Andronescu's wardrobes inspired by art pieces, she does beautiful work. You are also totally right about the tailoring, I wasn't thinking about the scenarios where things truly don't work without some adjustment. In my case things are sometimes a bit too short (but I try to buy "long" for pants to avoid this), or sometimes things end up a bit "oversized" on the top (as someone without much chest!), but this is a style I can work with usually, and as long as I wear separates rather than dresses I can get the right sizes for top and bottom. Thank you for reminding me about these different scenarios where tailoring isn't just for a better "fit," but is actually necessary!
@Alexas.nobuyyear4 ай бұрын
On reflection, I actually wonder if the "closet essentials" is just a problem of wording, or presenting this kind of information in the most "clickbaity" way. In the age of social media it seems like these "lists of essentials" are very popular, whereas more carefully worded conversations about how certain building blocks can be fundamental to everyone are not as popular or catchy...

Tailoring an item from scratch seems to be a journey into unknown 🙊 For my money, I want to see what am I buying and it has to fit perfectly from day 1.

Sporty-Cool-Quirky Sporty-a play on "athletic" because your look isn't "is she an athlete?" But the outfits with trainers did not look 'unexpected shoe,' they looked the most harmonious to my eye. It's also the most prominent and practical element of your style, IMO. Cool- it edged out 'chic' bc I do think the distinction is that [my impression is that] you aspire your looks to be cool like an artist rather than chic like a Parisienne model. Quirky- a tricky one since it can have a negative connotation, but theres no other way to describe it, and its the deepest compliment from my heart: Name another person who could--and would--purchase and wear a shirt feat a composer famous for a viola comp both ironically and unironocally. I'll wait.
@Alexas.nobuyyear3 ай бұрын
It certainly IS practical - I remember vividly a time when I was wearing some backless mules with a kitten heel, and ended up throwing my back out at work. So I'm happy to have cultivated a style that allows for trainers at work. I'll take quirky any day, negative connotations or not! Thank you! 😁

The altar thing cracked me up, honestly 😂 for context, I am a practicing pagan and I have and use an altar space for my spiritual practice, but the idea of setting up an altar for my three fashion words...? It's just a no 🙈😂 I think I ran across similar issues when I read The Curated Closet - the author suggests moodboards galore, and going to shops without buying to harvest inspiration, and finding/developing a personal colour palette, and a whole bunch of other ideas, and after a while I felt kind of exhausted just reading it. It seemed so labour-intensive and non-intuitive, which for me was just never going to work. Much like taking 20 minutes to get dressed in the mornings, who has the time? I also read a book a few years back called Style Statement, which encourages you to define your style with two words. At the time I remember being really into it but today I don't even remember what my words were 😂

My 3 words without reading the other comments for you are - relaxed, geometric, quirky After reading the comments I think I’ll change it to relaxed, geometric and artistic. Something about your whole vibe seems to have an interesting play on art/shapes - the structure of the items, or graphics on the clothes, or the shapes of accessories, or colours of the pieces. That is what creates the interest for me.. so it’s not quite quirky or trying to be different just for the sake of it, but more meaningfully different in an artistic way :) And that’s probably what makes your style cool!

I also stopped wearing my watch and my wedding ring when I was breastfeeding… with little kids it’s just uncomfortable. I try to implement it again as a habit. So no accessories for me! And because I dress not only me in the morning but three people I certainly don’t have 20 minutes for me (sometimes for my kids because „I don’t want this! I change into my dress!“ „But it’s in the laundry dear!“ „And the other one?“ „It has ketchup on it.“ Child cries for five minutes before getting dressed differently, not liking it and choosing the first outfit.) I am not sure if I like the three words method. For me it’s mostly the vibe that makes a outfit for me and sometimes I really cannot say why a piece of clothing works for me. Tbh, I think the podcast „Sustain This“ handled it in length and I always thought: how boring! Also indoor shoes. I like to be barefoot. The women in the podcast found the solution to have nice slippers as indoor shoes and just for indoors. It’s a fun thing to think about (especially for other people) but for me it’s not helping. What helped me is educating myself about colors and shapes. Only a bit as I am also not a fashion expert and don’t want to be. I always „tailor“ clothes as I am small and have to change jeans on a regular basis. My goal is to have more handmade clothes made by me. And that’s not that unrealistic.

oh goodness yes somehow the favorite outfit is always in the laundry or not presentable for some reason "but no, that is pajamas we can't wear that one out" ..."actually forget it you can wear the pajamas" 😂 I thought about the idea of house slippers or specific shoes for only indoors, but then for me what is the point of "indoor shoes", it's like some kind of costume that you don't actually use outside, so no one sees and also you don't use the functionality of the items. I understand slippers if your feet get cold indoors, but otherwise it is just not for me. I think I am also moving closer to the idea of "handmade" clothes or even learning to do small "tailoring" adjustments by myself! It helps that I don't really "need" anything right now so I can take my time in learning these things.
@kaisa14764 ай бұрын
You seem to have a lot of "me problems" but I'd say most of them are a more than just your personal problems. Or perhaps I have exactly the same me problems :D Who has 20 minutes every morning even without kids? And why would I wear something uncomfortable for working at home when I can achieve the same results in sweatpants? And then the universal pieces... if you want to look classic then probably those are great items to have, but not everyone wants to.
@Alexas.nobuyyear4 ай бұрын
Haha oh I sure do have a ton of "me problems" 😆 I think it's that idea where if it were a priority in our lives, we can make just about anything happen... so I want to emphasize that it's not a priority in my life right now, therefore, a me problem, and I don't judge anyone who does want this as a priority! (Or if I DO judge a bit in reality, I don't want it to define my perspective or what I communicate here - still working on it! And it was hard with this book because part of my instinctive response was like "20 minutes? an 'altar' for personal style? shoes indoors? oh HELL no!" but the other part of me does not want to get sassy on what could be someone's legitimate life priorities (which also don't hurt anyone) ...so 🤷♀️

I also don’t agree with wardrobe “staples”/ “universal pieces”. Only universal piece is some shoes, and something to cover enough of your body for it to be deemed appropriate for society. Personally I like trench coats and I have quite a collection of belted coats. I don’t own any t-shirts, especially in white. I have various tops but not t-shirt. Cosigning clothes is not in realm of my possibility either. I wear clothes until it is worn out to the point it doesn’t look good. I have to tailor most of my items. Off the rack items do not fit my body well. I like concept of 3 words as a method of self-discovery. I think your style is: minimal, utilitarian, sporty, laid back, relaxed, fun, cool, unserious. You have good style. I am still working on mine. For the longest time I only have bought clothes that fit and that was a big challenge on its own. I didn’t have much choice of expressing myself through clothing because I would just go for what fits well enough. Now I am on a me-made wardrobe sewing journey so it might change eventually :)

When i hear people say to get fully dressed when you work from home im like "you clearly dont understand why i chose to work from home" LOL It reminds me a little of mari kondo's advice about "if you're a woman, try wearing something elegant to bed." While i agree with her that your loungewear is important and you should feel good at home, i dont like the implication that what makes me feel good will be the same just because we're both women. Idk, maybe this is a stretch, but some of this style advice sounds a little too traditional and male-gaze oriented to apply to me or anyone who is truly dressing for themselves.

Haha 100% on the working from home. And I'm not really a fan of any of the "if you're a man/woman...do this" advice, so that's not a stretch for me at all. I don't want it implied that I'm less of a woman, less feminine, not sexy, or whatever else, if I'm perfectly happy wearing something ratty or not elegant to bed. Not hating on Marie Kondo and if it works for her, that's great, but I do think that kind of language is a little old-fashioned, if I might dare to say.

your 3 words based on your look and your clothing declutter could be laidback-artsy- flowy. I personally like the 3 words method (never read the book) but I hate the limitation of it. I always said I want to look like an ''old, excentric lady (with a title) in her old Manor in the English country who only had enough money to keep the stable boy'' so my style 3 words is Tailored- quirky -old word .... for it to work I think you need more then the inventory of your clothing but what you want to project to the world..... about tailoring your cloth (it's my first word soooo) I run marathons and have bigger thighs then my waist (always has and always been) and I hate when pants are tight so I go for a size that my tight are comfortable so it means that the waist is usually to big also I'm 5'3 so legs always need to be shorten. So tailoring make a world of difference with my clothing and how they fit on my body, that I fluctuate are not. my friend has a clothing line and she says pants are the hardest to make and get the sizing right.... they are almost impossible to target the majority of people. She has customers the LOVES her pants versus me who really has a hard time (they just don't fit well) so I'm saying for pants don't hesitate it is worth it.
