Ben Dover they aren't riots, they're peaceful protests. Second, as a black muslim women, there a whole lot of micro aggressions and discrimination I face but with every encounter I don't get upset because for me this is the norm. For many POC, lgbt+ folk, etc this is how they feel. Its sad that we feel this way but it is what it is and I'm not sure that you as a white man will understand this. A second example would be the medias reactions to lets say a black man being killed by police vs a white man. The black man will be painted as a thug etc. The white man will be painted as someone who was loved by family and friends, this is completely disregarding what both of their lives were like and immediately putting these traits on them simply because of their skin color. Theres many ways society as a whole has been desensitized to the deaths of POC and us peacefully protesting doesn't cancel out that desensitization.

I am absolutely speechless! For the first time ever a youtube video had me bawling my eyes out. TBH I had a hard time understanding what the man in the music video was saying but I could absolutely understand what the message was by watching the video itself. i just want to say. i really appreciate you guys for putting this video up. i balled my eyes out. this morning i watched a video about a black man in the US (age 26 at the time) who was trying to appeal for release. he was involved in an armed robbery, except he was the lookout, didn't have a gun, and there were no deaths. he was 14 years old and sentenced to 4 life sentences. at the end of the video, the judge denied him. at the time, i was irritated, but watching this video, set me over the edge. i wasn't aware of the white teenagers lynching that other boy (i live in the US btw). hearing that they are receiving minimal punishment after watching the other video just breaks my heart. thank you for posting this and making this a topic of discussion. also, dina, thank you so much for your insight about outrage and all. even as you were crying, you called yourself and others out. thank you. much love.

This video is brilliant but even after watching it.. people will miss the point. Hopefully more people see it for what it is and get it than just ‘oh another video’. You’re right in saying bringing kids into this world is a huge thing in this day and age. Society feels like it’s going backward instead of progress and it’s scary.
