You are correct about Simons color pallet and costumes. The costume designer did an interview stating that Wilhelm is in shades of blue and Simon is in shades of yellow and purple. As he feels more and more for Wille he starts to wear more purple. Purple is associated with royalty.

You’re right about Simon’s colors! The more he feels in love with Wilhelm or has feelings towards him, the more he uses purple (positive feelings towards him, specially love). The more he’s emotionally unattached to Wille, the more yellow he uses or sort of greys. He also wears a certain orange color, it’s sort of earthy orange, I believe it means that he’s not fully attached to Wille but not fully unattached, sort of in the middle fighting his feelings. (Also I heard that burgundy is also a color he uses when he has strong feelings towards Wille, this one is more prevalent in season 1 I think). Same with Wilhelm, the more blues he wears, the strongest he feels towards Simon(specially dark blues, like navy blue), the more greys, whites and oranges, the more emotionally unattached he’s needing to be or “hurt”. The colors sort of represent were they are in the relationship with each other. Lisa ambjorn, the writer of Young Royals, also said that in the first episode of season 1 Wilhelm wears orange because he’s on his way to Simon, but he doesn’t know it yet, this layer is also symbolic just like Simons yellow one. In season 1, when he’s about to go to the castle to make the statement when he’s with Simon before he leaves, he puts on an orange sweater and then a couple of layers of blue over it. This is foreshadowing that he’s gonna need to make a decision that is emotionally unattached from Simon, he’s needing to become that to make that decision, but he still loves him. Same thing happens to Simon in this season but I don’t want to give u spoilers hahaha Also I would like to add that you’re gonna see things like Simon wearing a yellow shirt and below that you can see a purple one, it’s symbolism to him hiding his love, feelings or having to be unattached but not wanting to, same applies to Wilhelm

7:21 Yes! I thought the same thing. Totally a Heartstopper moment, like with Tara and Darcy. And I love it! I don't mind you mentioning the differences and similarities with Heartstopper. I do it sometimes too. Wille's hair and he grew a bit too. He's several cm taller than Simon now.

According to the YR costume designer Simon's color palette is yellow and all associated colors like orange and red, Wilhelm's color palette is blue and all associated colors like grey and purple. Simon wearing purple represents his feelings for Wilhelm. Most of Season 2 he wears purple shirts under his yellow/orange clothes, showing that his feelings for Wilhelm are always there but he's trying to hide them. Wilhelm's orange sweater and all oranges and reds on Wilhelm represent his connection to Simon, like the red stripes on his blue scarf, also green which is the mix between blue and yellow.

Yes, everyone in school (including all the school staff) knows it's them because they know where the Crown Prince's room is. I think it was Henry who said in the last episode of Season 1 "Everyone here knows it's his room anyway".

YR portrays a deep connection with fears, limits, boundaries, doubts, social differences and profound search of the inner self. Both, Simon and Willie, live complete different worlds, which interact, but can't be united into one singular reality, for Willie is from the royal family, whose demands are linked to unreal perfection. Both face different demands and commitments; but at the same time, have the same feelings and desires because both are teenagers. Although they live different realities, they need these differences in order to understand that if they really want to be together, they must tear that social wall down and face the consequences this action is gonna bring into their lives. The colors, which are signs of emotions, also show this rollercoaster effects, which they're gonna be through. YR is persistence, resistence, determination and "lots of stamina".

( As a Finn I can say that Religion is sill in schools, aggressive things are also traditions etc. etc. Things in this series are not exaggerated. In some schools only in the 5-10 years traditions have been let go but otherwise - this series is quite aqqurate. Also what comes to how the Nordics behave in general - accurate.)
