That “wanting to be white” assumption annoyed my spirit. It felt like an assumption that being well spoken, financially responsible, a good parent and having a healthy marriage were “white” things. That may not have been the intention but that’s how it read and that didn’t sit right with me.

I felt the same jab to my spirit. Where that thought came from i don't know but it was from that person's skewed mind. Was it from love or fear? I'd say fear. Maybe of not measuring up themselves.

Preach!! 🙌🏽 lol. Being a stay-at-home mom is a job! A very hard one at that. Shout it from the roof tops lol. Only those who have never done it could ever remotely think that it is not. I guess they assume that the babies, toddlers and kids do all the things for themselves while we just lay around and relax lol. The grass is not always greener on the other side, so I don't judge working or single moms because it's hard for them, too. I just wish that some of them would stop judging us when we say that our job is also not easy.

Right, it's actually more than a full time job. I actually went back to working outside the home after being a stay at home mom. It was so much WORK!! I knew I wasn't built for it. I admire moms that can do it for a long time.

I get this all the time too “you sound white “ “you talk like a white Girl” etc. it’s such a bizarre statement. I was raised to be well mannered, speak properly and dress modestly. Not sure how that correlates to a specific race either lol

I have been accused of wanting to be white so many times, I'm black with dark skin, I love who and what I am, but I'm sorry that some people are so confused over what I am because I know what I am. People think that I'm stuck up until they take the time to know me.

The" wanting to be white" assumption, might come from people seeing you go on trips with the white KZbin mom's, where you were the only black woman. The Amelia Island trip was particularly cringy because it didn't seem that you were treated right. Plus your old friend is and has always been a racist, so that may also be the reason for that assumption. I for one have never thought that because I noticed you distanced yourself from those certain people, so I know that you demand to be treated with respect and dignity in a friendship.
