For me personally the other problem this year is that it took me a while to get more than one song (other than Czech Republic) that I truly loved. But then all of a sudden all the National selections finished and I have a tonne of songs I love and it’s grand.

Sure 2021 had us spoiled, but I don't think 2022 will be a weak year at all and even the weaker entries are perfectly acceptable. The days of serious ugly at Eurovision have apparently (and hopefully) gone by.

I feel like the favourites are a lot more spread out this year, I’d say at this moment in time there’s maybe like 8-10 in the running as taking the prize as opposed to maybe 5 last year. I’m talking in terms of hype around them rather than whether they’re objectively good enough to win, which again I think 2022 has more of, more quality songs

Agreed, there are only a couple of songs I really dislike this year and it’s not because they’re objectively bad by any metric it’s entirely due to personal subjective things that make me dislike songs. The average quality of songs this year is really high.

There are 40 songs and it's a very strong year. You can't find a weak song in the whole year, so you don't know who will qualify and who doesn't. To make predictions this year it's almost mission impossible.

Here are my personal thoughts on all 40. Anyone agrees? :) ALBANIA: not my kind of song but I respect it. Great vocals, surprising twists. Mid-table for me. ARMENIA: cute but fairly forgettable. AUSTRALIA: great vocals, emotional performance. Very repetitive song, sadly. Mid-table. AUSTRIA: great dance track but also nothing that special. Need to hear it live. AZERBAIJAN: another 'meh' ballad. Nothing special. BELGIUM: love. it! The vocals, the progression of the song, the vibe. Amazing. Not my fave, but up there. BULGARIA: sorry but no. It's just ok, which is not nearly enough for a rock song for me. CROATIA: cute, very early Taylor Swift. I enjoy it if it's on, but that's pretty much it. CYPRUS: also middle of the table for me. Pretty OK though. CZECHIA: amazing. Loved it from the very start. Everything about this is great, including the 'guitariolin' DENMARK: a bit of a guilty pleasure. Nothing special, but something about Reddi makes it so endearing. ESTONIA: very David Guetta. It's fine I guess. FINLAND: a bit of a throwback. Not crazy about it, but it makes me nod my head. FRANCE: gotta say I was unconvinced when I first heard it. Loved it more with every listen. Amazing. Top 5 for sure. Possible televote winner. GEORGIA: sounds like Brit pop, which I like, but it is a bit too repetitive. Still like it though. GERMANY: a total guilty pleasure for me this year!! It won't do that great, but I'm rooting for Malik. GREECE: I don't get the mega hype. It's good but it's also nothing new. Maybe a top 10-15 for me, definitely not a winner. ICELAND: it is growing on me. Sounds sweet and I love the Icelandic language. IRELAND: I am usually team Ireland but this year I'm not getting on it. It's a standard pop song, nothing more. ISRAEL: good voice, the song is not for me. Can barely make through it. ITALY: absolutely my winner. Everything about this is beautiful. Listening on repeat, know it by heart by now. LATVIA: out of the two joke songs this year, this one is the worse one. It irritates me. LITHUANIA: a very interesting retro sound, love to hear the language. But it's another mid-table song for me. MALTA: horribly generic. No matter which song we are talking about. Emma is a good singer though, it's a shame. MOLDOVA: another song which I feel I would only vibe with if I was blind drunk at a party. So it's a no. MONTENEGRO: it's quite good, great voice again. The song is just ok overall. NETHERLANDS: it's very good. Like it more at every listen. Top 10. N. MACEDONIA: the lirics are just so painfully generic. Not a fan. NORWAY: the better of the joke entries. Still, it's fun but just ok. I hope it does not do too well, we've had better joke entries over the years. POLAND: one of my faves. Love the song and Ochman's voice is stellar. Top 5. PORTUGAL: mystical, pleasant. Does not stand out enough for me. ROMANIA: not for me. Same as Israel. Can barely make it through the 3 mins. SAN MARINO: bonkers. It's just crazy. Not crazy good though. SERBIA: innovative, strong message, great hook. Top 10. SLOVENIA: (my own country). There were 3 other songs in our NF I wanted to win over this, but I also liked this one. It's catchy, funky & the kids are really talented. Hope they make the final! SPAIN: not my type of song but I feel this could be the Fuego of 2022, just light up the stage and make it amazing. Top 10. SWEDEN: love it, one of my faves. Cornelia's voice and emotional performance are phenomenal. Top 5. SWITZERLAND: it's a very simple song but I like the singer's voice and it just makes me feel warm and fuzzy. UKRAINE: I much preferred Alina Pash, but this is also good. Wouldn't be my winner though. UK: yeeeeees UK!! Finally!! Love this to bits. Omg I may even root for this to win because the UK is such an underdog. But this song is fantastic. Please may it do well! London 2023??

@@triadafillos1 The mystery of music... It doesn't work the same way for each of us. Some join immediately, others only with repeated listening, others only after a few years, others never. Example: with Alesia, at first it didn't work so much... But she found herself crying when listening to it later. It all depends on the training of our musical sensitivity, our state of mind, our own maturity as people in evolution... I liked it at first, I thought it was special, but I didn't go into a loop... Until a foreigner in a react, someone very calm, he said that while studying and listening to the songs, when he heard this he had to stop everything and says he entered a hypnotic state of beauty. This made me hear it again, on a calmer day, and since then (since the end of January) I listen it every day. For me, it surpasses Amar dos Dois (Salvador Sobral), and is outside the Eurovision standards. It is a song that is born in my life. And I was happy to know that many great musicians think the same. Just now I just found out that Ivan Lins himself, an iconic Brazilian musician, considers the song "wonderful"... He joins Quincy Jones, Pablo Alborán, Salvador Sobral, Teresa Salgueiro (former lead singer of Madredeus), Dulce Pontes, The Black Mamba... There are musicians from jazz to hard rock who love this song. This has to make us reflect. Who knows, maybe one day you will realize the magic of Saudade Saudade.

Predictions: Sweden will win the jury vote, and will get high televote points but not that many since there are many good ballads this year and the votes will get divided, as it happened last year with female pop bops. Ukraine will win the televote (probably followed by Norway or Spain) but will be like 15th with the juries, and I think it won’t win. Spain will most likely be top 5 with both juries and televote, having a big chance to win. Remember, there’s no other song like this one this year and people who like upbeat pop (Latin pop in this case) songs like this will definitely go for this one, and juries will rank this high obviously too. I rlly dont get the intense love for the Spanish entry honestly. It sounds like every other generic high tempo pop song. We’ve heard something like this many times already and these types of songs never win because Europe prefers either Swedish pop songs, impactful ballads or really unique entries, and those were really the only types of songs that won in the recent years at least. I’m not saying that the Spanish song is bad, it’s not my personal style but i understand its merit. However, I don’t think there’s any way it could win. Definitely won’t be liked by the juries. Also, Spain is often underrated in the contest, even when they send unique songs. Maybe it will be in the top 10, maybe even in the top 5 or 3, but I’m very doubtful it could win. That’s just my opinion though

Don't ever underestimate Italy power with televoting! Also I think Australia will be successful with the juries. Moreover, Spain I can't feel any winner vibes. Good music and performance. But song has no message and I think juries won't give it a top 5 position

I think Spain is like fuego 2.0 ... Jennifer Lopez ish. I wish I could feel "it" but I don't so I don't get the fuzz. Personally, I prefer 2022 as the songs this year are much more diverse and much more enjoyable to listen on the long run. Too many similar-sounding bops last year and most of them ages poorly after the competition.
