Oh I’m glad you discovered Ayreon. He has produced multiple cd’s. It’s like they are musicals with heavy rock and symphonic metal music. He’s not a band but a single very talented man Arjen Lucassen who invites renown musicians, from the metal world to participate on his albums and projects. He has showcased many famous singers and often uses the same singers for different projects. Of course you’ll find Floor and her sister Irene Jansen, Simone Simon’s, Anneke van Giersbergen, and more lately Dianne van Giersbergen ( ex-Xandria) as wel as many excellent talents from outside The Netherlands. Arjen Lucassen is Ayreon and he not only plays in his projects but writes and produces everything. I do believe that these talented people are honoured to be invited for one of Ayreon’s projects. I hope I explained it well enough but you could also Google Arjen Lucas and Ayreon.

Your comment about Dream Theatre, I 💯 agree. Ayreon is not a band but a project from the mind of one man Arjen Lucassen, the tall lanky guy that plays the guitar, bass, hammond and analog synth in this video. Anything from the Electric Castle, Universe or 01011001 live shows is all fire. Lastly how dare you interrupt Mike Mills vocal interlude, how dare you! HEHE! 😜

I love this song, everyone is so ridiculously talented! If you want to listen to a few interesting new artists, not necessarily progrock or metal, maybe try out British rock bands The Last Dinner Party, Yard Act, DEADLETTER and Fat Dog. Also, you should DEFINITELY check out Ren (song: Hi, Ren) and Belgian artist Stromae. And last but not least, British alternative/art rock band Elbow. They formed in 1990, I discovered them in 2008, and I’ve loved them ever since. The singer Guy Garvey is a poet.

And yes, you are right .... the protective American music industry only favors 3-4 minute songs on the radio. These are not your typical mediocre songs. Even on tv they have that policy. As a Dutchman I can recommend an American tv-clip from 1973 (young Oprah Winfrey) where a Dutch band played live. The song here in the Netherlands had a duration of about 6 minutes. What was said ....... guys, you can only play for 3,5 minutes, so what dit FOCUS do ....... they sped up the song !!!! Hilarious. This is a myth. They played a full 6 mins on The Midnight Special. You can find the complete performance on The Midnight Specials YT channel. They DID however cut the performance down to 4 mins to fit the time slot on tv. I would love that the myth was real but they just played an faster version then the recorded version and that for 6 full mins. Thats just insane skills right there.
