You don't hear many songs with just Robin and Maurice singing without Barry. It goes to show that even though being twins their voices sounded alike in a lot of ways when they sang Together.....you could also hear the unique differences in their voices. Robins's ethereal vibrato is a gift that only he has. The song written in 1994 makes me think of interviews Maurice gave about overcoming his battle with alcohol. Saw interviews with both his wife and little girl crying about this struggle. This song must have been written about his family seeing his dark side. As always Chad you do a masterful job of selecting songs, many I have never heard. Keep it going, you are appreciated.

Hi Chad, great one, you've reacted to. BTW, a song called 'Songbird', from the album Maincourse, should be also on your list. But on that one, Barry is the leadsinger. So what, I'm one of those, which doesn't prefer anyone of them. The magic is threeleged, so they're born Manx (shortend up for Isle Of Man).
@susieq98013 жыл бұрын

Thanks again Chad. Another magnificent song. Eventually we have to run out of superlatives. At times in this I think there is an echo of Lennon in Mo's voice. He was one of Mo's idols. Together the twin's voices were beautiful. "Songbird" was one of Robin's nicknames. Perhaps his parents had some kind of premonition to name him as they did. His other nickname was "Bodding". The dictionary defines it as someone energetic, charismatic, ambitious and focused who gives everything for their true passion and can't be forced to "go along" if he disagrees. Though apropos I don't know if that is how he got that name.
@gabyehebrecht74353 жыл бұрын
I read once that Maurice couldn't pronounce his twin brother's name correctly when he was a toddler. Instead of "Robin" he said "Bodding". Maurice was called "Woggie". Unfortunately, I don't remember where I read that.

I have seen several requests for Songbird. Please do consider it for your long list. I believe you will love it. Blue Weaver's piano work is unbelievable. In fact Blue got a writing credit for it. Added plus - harmonica and an Elton vibe. Although it came from Main Course in 1975, it does make you feel it was written about Robin and his passing. I've never seen a video, but in case no one has sent a link, here is the audio with a slide show. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWPcnKabeJxro6s

Another song they left of an album that was better than some tracks on the album. I never realized that was Mo singing instead of Barry. Sounds like he was doing his Lennon impression, which he was very good at. He even fooled Yoko Ono into thinking John Lennon was singing on "Have You Heard The Word" as she tried to have it copyrighted in 1985 as a John Lennon song. No comment....

It was a Robin vocal, and like too many others, was given bonus track status. Bonus tracks were only available through certain retailers or in certain parts of the world/country. This insured that the song would never get wide distribution or airplay. I call it musical purgatory.
