I listened to this song when it came out. Some people criticized it saying it's "too mainstream" but I think the way BTS managed to get such positive feelings in the MV and even on the song is unmatched. Also, the choreography uses sing language, it's a very special way of including people 💜

The song was written by Ed Sheeran for BTS and the choreography has them doing American sign language at the end so the deaf community was pleasantly surprised. 😊 Our boys are amazing!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜😎🫰🏻🫶🏻

I really like the version that was done at the UN too. Love their use of sign language and the impact it had on deaf kids. Random note--- Ryan Gossling wore Jimin's cowboy get up in Barbie and sent his guitar to Jimin in keeping with the Ken code of honor to acknowledge Jimin having worn the outfit first & better.

This is the song that brought me to BTS. I live by myself with 3 dogs and one of the ways I got through the pandemic was dance parties on my front yard with my pups. When I heard this song I cried. Cuz sure, a grown ass woman dancing with her dogs may seem crazy. This video started my journey with BTS and now I'm full blown Army. I've seen them in concert. I own most of their discography now. This might not even be in my top 25 favorite BTS songs but it quite literally changed my life.

This song has a special place for me. I ended up really sick in the hospital for a week unable to have visitors and this song was a constant on my playlist. It really got me through a really tough time, so it is a permanent fixture on almost every playlist I have.

That's correct, was the school girl(s) on bridge. Have to remember, this song came out in 2021 and NewJeans didn't debut till 2022. And when they debuted they were very young. So they would be quite young in this video as well. The video was recorded in Korea. And they threw in sign language in the choreography which wasn't very common in most Kpop vids. So it made music vid even more special. :)

This song is what sealed the deal for me on becoming ARMY. The smallest things can make a huge difference. They added Sign Language at the end to make it more inclusive. We had all been isolated for so long and wanted as many people to feel the message of hope. The UN performance is live and sooo good. This song makes you happy. Also, I felt it meant, even if we are isolated, we don’t need permission to live, have fun. Make the best of things. Fun fact: Ryan gosling I’m BARBIE wore the same black cowboy outfit as Jimin. Jimin wore it first and there is a whole video message convo between the two. It’s funny

In Australia, during covid, there were rules about dancing. If you were out at a pub or bar where you could normally dance or stand around and drink, you weren't allowed to. You had to sit in a chair at all times.

What I thought of the song and the mv... Yes very positive, feel good, just maybe too positive for me, even child like...there for the success it had with the kids. But I appreciated the feeling, it did make me dance... you don't need a bunch of people or anyone to dance, you can dance by yourself, and dance is not just for celebrating, it can be just for seeing the hope... So yes about the ending of the pandemic but also about a bit of joy for everyone, no matter the circumstances.. that's why the sign language in the choreo at the end

You need to watch the Permission to Dance teaser. Suga is holding a newspaper that puts a lot of the MV into context. The young male student dancing between the two girls was also a trainee. He dropped out though I think.

This set was made in Korea, reminded me of a similar video in desert and cowboy clothing. HYBE goes through so much to make set designs and costuming. You should check out PSY's (Gangham Style) song That That featuring Suga of BTS who wrote the song and knew that PSY was made for it.

This one is just "too Ed Sheeran" for me which makes sense because he wrote it. i do respect the inclusion of sign language though fyi: not a solostan but rm's newest solo album is art Chapter 2 has been a hell of a ride so far with the variety of musical styles being released

Yeah it's just suppose to be a fun song, this is probably my least fav of the 3 English songs but it still makes me smile cuz they enjoyed performing it. There performance of this song at the UN is super cool. They have spoken at the UN 3 times but had never done a performance there before, from what I've heard it's rare to perform there. I'm excited for the next song, they got work with Coldplay a group they admire both V and Jin especially as the listened to them a lot. I even remember a few clips in the past with the guys listening to them like in Bon Voyage season 1 (a BTS vacation travel series) one of the first episodes when they guys are just hanging out at their first place they stayed at on the trip.

No matter what's going on in the world. Dance and don't let it bring you down too much. But, no idea exactly what they meant. Dynamite, Butter, and Permission to Dance were such fun songs to make everyone feel happier and dance during COVID. They did a performance of this taped at the UN and it's also so much fun to watch!

just fyi bts and new jeans fandom are not on good terms since their ceo or w/e trashed bts and was glad they left for the army etc. and accused them of stuff... it's this whole thing and it's too long to explain but it's worth mentioning and new jeans still back her claims it's been going down since bts left for the military and they can't defend themselves but yeah, they aren't in this or in any bts/solo bts project tae worked with their ceo or w/e for some of his solo stuff before all the happened but that's it most of new jeans are minors so idc about them interacting before all this anyway

I get you giving a heads up It's understandable given the crazy circumstances but even Wikipedia says Minji & Hana from New Jeans were in Permission to Dance under New Jeans page, I mean I don't know them really. Granted maybe they were trainees still part of Source Music perhaps either way let's not rewrite history like most kpop fans do to BTS we are better then that, it is what it is. Let's not let new fans or reactors get tangled up in this mess, I wish I were oblivious at this point cuz the old saying ignorance is bliss and it's more painful knowing how BTS is still treated to this day by many in the kpop industry and even their own government. And it makes me think of what Jake said during their Guide reaction about How could anyone hate this, hate them they seem like the most genuine nice people, Evan mentioned jealousy it's really sad that it's not just when we talk about racist jerks but also people in their own industry that want to tear them down. Enemies right next to them and they didn't even know it, no wonder they feel like they can only trust each other at this point.

Ok Forget what I said completely now ceo Min Heejin of Ador who manages New Jeans (she is crazy sorry, literally nuts. She paid for a shaman who she thought was her dead sister to make business decisions for Ador and paid this Shaman to do witchcraft to send to BTS to the military to get them out of the way there is literally transcripts of the text messages cuz she was dumb enough to use the parent company Hybe's own server to send these messages so the data is in their cloud system. Which it all crazy anyway because Biiiiaaach they had to go anyway it's mandatory. She was also caught in a plot with her other manager plotting a illegal hostile business takeover of Ador which started she started plotting over 3 yrs ago which is really what the big issue is and why there is a legal case against her. She got caught and is wreaking havoc ever since) claims that the 2 girls were used in the MV without their permission even tho at the time those girls were trainees with Source Music not under Adore at all. She called it "disrespectful" to use them in their MV after she herself paid for articles plastered everywhere calling New Jeans "BTS' little sisters" when they debuted and has done everything to use BTS' name to launch NJ careers. Use BTS (not to mention their money cuz active they earned 80% of Hybe's total profits) and army like that? Ah hell no!
