The song came to present what happened on the seventh of October. The dancers in the video introduce the people who came to spread light and love. It shows the hunderds murdered and kidnapped people who danced at the Nova festival in Israel. For us the date was really a hurricane She says there in one of the sentences, promise me you'll hold me again. Here she mentions the abductees from their point of view and their thoughts. The upside down tree shows the feeling of the people in Israel. We feel that our roots have been uprooted and our world has been completely turned upside down since October 7th.In addition to this, the upside-down tree shows the hundreds of families who somehow managed to escape from the terrible range and were displaced from their homes when Hamas entered the settlements where they lived and destroyed everything. The original "october rain" had more direct lyrics BUT A DIFFERENT MUSIC! It was disqualified. then we sent another song - dance forever - which was ALSO DISQUALIFIED. THENNNNN... THE witters and composers OF BOTH SONGS joimed foces, they "softened" the lyrics of "october rain" AND attatched them to the music of "dancing forever", and rhe result is... HURRICANE! :)

I see where you are coming from in terms of not facilitating tension in the competition. However it’s important to note that Israel has been competing since the 70s, so saying they can’t now in the midst of some of the worst times for Israel is pretty unnecessary. I do understand not wanting to make a singing competition political, but singing about pain is universal, not political. I do think the rewrite from October Rain to hurricane is actually better in its simplicity. Being broken from an all consuming storm, wanting to hold our loved ones close, is a universal feeling that a lot of ppl can relate to. Dedicating a song about pain and sadness to those who lost their lives before their time isn’t political. It’s a tribute. Even if Israel doesn’t go into finals or win, the fact they are able to compete, share a song that has meaning to them is a win in itself. Ppl need to be able to seperate politics out of art and appreciate the thought that goes into these performances. Good luck to everyone involved in Eurovision this year, and a shout out to Israel for atleast making it this far in the eye of the storm that was and is the last few months.

Hi, first of all thank you very much for the honest reaction! I am from Israel, and I completely understand that considering what you see in the news, this is what you think and feel. I'm not going to educate you or preach to you, just want to point out that what you see and know is a small part, that is presented to you with a certain agenda, and the reality is much more complex. I'm sure that less is presented to you in the news about our pain. The fact that we still have hundreds of thousands of Israelis from the south (following the attack on 7/10 that destroyed many homes, villages and people's sense of security) and the north (from the moment the attack by the terrorist organization Hamas in Gaza began, it was joined by Hezbollah terror Organization in Lebanon that fires hundreds of missiles at Israel daily), who are still being evacuated from their homes and do not know if, and when they will be able to return. Did you know that in recent months there have been dozens of terrorist attacks that have harmed civilians within the State of Israel? Last time today a few minutes ago in a cafe - a 50 year old is fighting for his life now, in others civilians were waiting at a bus stop and didn't come back, civilians were shot while sitting in their car in traffic and couldn't escape, including a pregnant woman (she and the fetus survived if you are interested), 16 year old children who were run over when they left school and more. Hundreds of attacks have been prevented thanks to our security forces (one attack that was supposed to be a suicide bomber, just like in my childhood when I was afraid to get on the bus or stand next to a bus for fear it would explode). Do you know that even at this time there are our citizens held captive by Hamas in the tunnels? Among them the Bibas family, a 4-year-old boy, and a 1-year-old baby!! Women are being raped in captivity as you read this comment. These citizens were kidnapped from a party where they went to celebrate life, or from their homes in their pajamas. They haven't done anything wrong to anyone, and we are committed to getting them back! I'm sure you expect your country to protect you, to make you feel safe that no one will come to you, your family, and your friend's home and slaughter them and you. Well, we also expect it from our country, and for too many years it has not done it. We had dozens of rounds in Gaza against Hamas, which we always ended too soon because we hoped it would be quiet and they would stop, we cannot allow Hamas to stay there. But Hamas is smart, it uses civilians to prevent us from reaching it. Neither I, nor any other Israeli wants to murder civilians (unlike Hamas), as far as I am concerned we are all human, and I am pained by the suffering of the civilians in Gaza as well. I wish Hamas would return our abductees and surrender, and prevent this suffering from all of us. Look, I'm not here to change your mind, you have the right to whatever opinion you want, I just want to make it clear that it's not black and white, and it hurt me that even though we were attacked by surprise in the most brutal attack the Jewish people has experienced since the Holocaust, they actually expect us not to participate. As an Israeli, I hope for a two state solution, with good relations between the two states. I wish it was easy, I wish we had peace right now. I know both sides are suffering, traumatized, and full of hate towards each other. But what gives me hope is that I'm certain there are good people in both sides, who aren't racist, and respect people for being themselves. I know they exist in Israel, I know they live in Gaza. And I just hope that one day they both will rise to govern their people and lead us to a better future.
