As Nutmeg112 mentioned, Lady Gaga's "Telephone" was the song that started the entire journey of Pentatonix. The "trio" -- Kirstie, Scott, and Mitch, sang this song at a choir performance for the Martin High School, which they all attended. They got a lot of accolades for their performance, and when Scott later wanted to try out for The Sing Off, it was one of the songs they used to audition for the show -- adding Avi and Kevin and making Pentatonix for the first time.
