Thanks for the double-header! I was another one who suggested and provided links to both of these. As you said Gacharic Spin are just fun.

Yuri is such a happy camper in her office there. She fits so well in this crazy bunch

What no reactor seems to ask about is Hana's odd drum set, which is called a North Drum kit. It is rarely used now and the sound those curved parts create a different sound. That's why I assume most people question Hana's timing with Yuri's. I really recommend reading about that kind of kit.

Didn't even notice. Thanks pretty cool though.

My favourite Gacharic Spin song. It maybe doesn't have as big a wow-factor (at least for people who don't appreciate the dual drummers as you do) as some of their other stuff, but it just sounds so powerful, even when played on toy instruments.

I fracking love this band. Bringing two drum kits together really reminds me of Wagakki Band and other orchestral groups together. It's a symphony. I played marching band and big band as well, as a lead saxophonist, but I understood the percussion section. Timing is difficult, but when you have the right groups of players, can be so powerful. And when they're synced, is so damn good. I'm impressed about playing and being asked questions at the same time. That's tough. Like learning to play guitar while singing, writing lyrics and spokespigeon for your band.

They did a number of other amusing bits on their channel during lockdown when they couldn't perform and even recording was difficult. On one Hana made several instruments from common household items and then used them all to do "Sounds like team spirit"

Awesome choice! What's particularly crazy is the dual drum set-up isn't even a standard set-up for them, it's just something they do occasionally for the lulz. Hana (the drummer who was singing as well) is normally on guitar and vocals nowadays (although she was also on drums for the latest album as main drummer Yuri was out on maternity leave). Hana was the original drummer when the band was formed in 2009, also took on lead vocal duties in 2012 when their original singer left, then in 2019 they brought in Yuri and Hana went out front on guitar. Here's some further suggestions: MindSet (LIVE 2022): kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2LbgGp9ob2piaM Hana on guitar (has some awesome solos) and Yuri on drums. MindSet (LIVE 2021): kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooKpc6qupKqho8k Hana on drums (recorded when Yuri was still out on maternity leave). I Wish I (MV): kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4OZf6WolNSgoKc The other MV released to promote their latest album, Hana on guitar in the video although she also recorded the drums. A guy who'd been doing drum support duties for live shows in Yuri's absence for live shows called LEVIN (from the band La'Cryma Christi) appears in the MV on drums. I Wish I (Live 2022): kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHnSZqiqnK6md80 起死回生Forever (PV): kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmnFlJxoj8-Vitk Bonus MV that came on the special edition DVD of their 2020 album Gold Dash. Lock On (MV): kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYm9eqCpj9qdhsU Their first released single and MV back in 2010, with original singer Armmmy and before keyboard player Oreo had joined. There's plenty more amazing choices, that's plenty for now!

Yuri (the drummer in white - former Lagoon drummer) was a newly joined member at the time of this concert. Hana (drummer in black) was the main drummer and actually a main vocal for a long time. At this concert, they had two drum sets because they had a symbolic hand off of the drumming to Yuri because Hana will be standing in the front with rhythm guitar part (yes, she is a multi-instrumentalist) - it was a natural move because she sings a lot as a main and to be stuck behind a drum set was kind of a hindrance. Gacharic does not really have one main vocalist though. Also, no, Angelina 1/3 (red hair) was not the main singer when she joined a few months before Yuri. She was going to be a performer (dancing and cheering stuff) and join in singing at times. Due to her efforts, she is now participating a lot in singing now. Angelina has Japanese/Filipina/Spanish blood - thus the "1/3" in her name. You won't see two drum sets anymore going forward.

I've always thought Akane was just about the happiest drummer out there, but Yuri takes the cake.
@davidkoepke98412 жыл бұрын
Yuri also does some singing while drumming, e.g. "Redline" but other 5 sang in this song (if you count Koga's wailing and Tomo-zo's background vocals) and 5 is enough.

You were speaking about fanfare and brass at the end, did you know these girls can play brass ? You can check out the titlte "Generation Gap" for Hana on the trombone, Koga on trumpet and Tomo-zo on the sax, plus a couple of other surprises in this track (the MV video specifically). YT video --> Gacharic Spin「ジェネレーションギャップ」 Bonus: you can also check Tamu from Nemophila learning the sax in this video on her channel --> ドラマーがサックスを真剣に吹いてみる① (concert performance at 6:10).

"Tamashii" is not their best song by far but just like "Freedom" for Band-Maid, it's a song they love to play live in all possible and funny ways. Hana (who sings lead too) is their former drummer, but she prefers to be fronstage with a guitar to sing (she's a pretty good guitarist and bassist, plays keys, wind instruments and more), so since 2019 there's Yuri on drums. But sometimes, Hana feels the drums nostalgia and come back behind the kit for a couple songs.

Thanks for the requests Doc 👌🏻 I miss Hana behind a drum kit even if yuri is amazing

Glad you're enjoying Gacharic Spin. You mentioned marching bands, which seem quite popular in Japan. I'll just point you towards Eiryo Highschool's band as they have covered BABYMETAL, some tracks better than others, but always good entertainment.
