He stuns us all ... but can you believe we could have lost that beautiful voice forever? The reason why the audience screams so load and Onew cries during this performance is because this was Onew's first solo performance since having vocal surgery. It was a really scary surgery because there was no guarantee that he would ever be able to sing again, let along at the same quality as he did before the surgery. Onew spent about 3 months after his surgery not being able to speak at all in order to give his vocal cords time to heal and then he had to learn to sing all over again. This performance was proof to himself and the fans that he could still do it and that nothing had changed. This song was also super meaningful because the original Japanese songwriter had the same surgery as Onew and he was never able to sing again.The songwriter composed "Rainy Blue" after his surgery and the song is about how he felt now that he had to give up something that was so precious to him, etc. The song is kind of saying how the world around him kept moving forward while time stood still for him during his recovery because of how hard it was to deal with the fact that he might not be able to keep singing. For the writer, he kept chasing the happiness of singing but sadly could no longer do so. Luckily Onew's surgery had a much better outcome than the composer and it seems to not have had much of an affect on his voice. Thank goodness because the world would be a much sadder place if we could no longer hear Onew's beautiful voice. :D

Just have to love ONEW. He cried because was the first song he sang after his surgery and the Drs were not sure ( could not asure him or SM) that he would be abbly to sing again, but he did if after months of not be abbly to speak/sing and then basically had to get a vocal coach again ( learning to sing), he did it in time for this concert. And Taemin support means the world to him, since remember he helpped Taemin with his vocals when he needed it as well. 😊😊.

This was such an emotional performance for Onew. It was his first solo stage after vocal surgery. He couldn't speak or sing for several months during recovery. He had no idea if he would ever be able to sing again! This song was written by someone who went through the same thing ...unfortunately, they were not able to sing again. A very emotional time and song for Onew.

Our chicken is so lovely and talented he even sang Opera. You should check out his Nessum Dorma performance. It's mind blowing.❤ PS: Taemin's proficient in piano and guitar just like Jonghyun's in some instruments (piano, base, flute, guitar, kazoo, etc...)

525% accurate reaction...SHINee sings from their heart,always...he cried because its his first solo stage after vocal surgery,which the original singer also undergone but not as lucky as Onew,he 'cant sing luke how he use to be.Onew is one of those one in a million voice that you can recognize even when mix with hundred others,he's a natural singer...full of emotions...please do react to his other solo "Nessun Dorma" and his fellow member our angel Jonghyun "Y Si Fuerra Ella" this two is a must...promise you wont regret kistening to it...I really love your sinserity when reacting...again thank you =)

Love ONEW period. No matter how many times I've watched this video I still get emotional knowning that this stage represents his return as a singer after the vocal cords surgery. You should watch ONEW's stage with Jonghyun - Please don't go - as well. Very emotional one as well. And ONEW's performance of NESSUN DORMA will leave you speechless. 🤗

I have to add this to our list! I know Regina hasn't seen this comment yet or she would have totally already replied as she is a HUGE Onew fan! Although I tend to be a Key bias, I absolutely love Onew's vocals. And now that I know why he was crying, it makes watching it much more special! I have such a huge respect for this group. Jinki cried because it was his first performance after his vocal nodule surgery. (They were not sure he would be able to sing again and he had months of vocal rest.) The writer of the song had the same issue.

Ghis Mhd He had nodules (lumps) on his vocal cords. It was a risky surgery for a singer but if left untreated could have ended his career permanently.

@@ghismhd2189 nodules in vocal chords, that is why he used to crack his voice, you can tell a singer is suffering from that when his voice cracks and they lose some high notes, the problem is the doctor has to go in and scrape the vocal chord and you don't know how your voice is going to be after that, for some singers they lose some of their range that is why they refuse to have the surgery, I am having a bit of a problem on my vocal chords right now, but I don't want the surgery because I have been a soprano all my life and I don't see myself losing that, I am doing therapy and see if that holds up while I make the decision...

I watched his voice crack several times and was wondering if it was due to exhaustation, going through puberty or just not using his voice appropiatley, but never associate it with nodules. As for you, just do what your heart tells you and I wish you a good luck with therapy.

The song is so emotional, the fact that it was written by a singer who was losing his ability to sing like Onew, and then it was the first time Onew was performing live after surgery and the piano, Taemin was so good there too, and the lyrics of the song... It breaks your heart. They all play instruments, shinee is very talented... As a fan from their beginning era. I could say SHINee had been through a lot but im amazed how they work so hard with true passion. Its been nine years and i still grow feeling. The only kpop i follow and i even went to their concert every year. Including tokyo dome. As proof the 5 of their vocal, please react and watch to SLEEPLESS NIGHT FROM SWC III. Its such great ballads of SHINee, composed by Jonghyun. Thanks for reacting this. Rainy Blue always makes me cry.
