Man, that movie trailer also made me cry. I’m really hoping that Infinity Nikki ends up being good- Shining Nikki (the most recent title) makes a lot of money, so they have the resources. The lore is both hilarious and devastating- it’s like a card game anime if you really think about it lol (except replace playing cards with fashion). There’s a lot of audience crossover with games like Breath of the Wild and Genshin impact- so there’s a big chance to hook in a wider audience with Infinity Nikki. I really hope they nail the gameplay and it’s not stiff like in the teaser trailer.

We don't even know how far out Infinity Nikki truly is. They must be doing SOMETHING right with their other games for them to have the resources to do these things. (I mean, it could be just predatory gambling monetization, but even that wears on addicts after a while.) Infinity Nikki and Granblue Fantasy ReLink are both major opportunities for these ultimately niche mobile games to grab the spotlight of more general rpg gamers. Hopefully both are good and are received well.

I've played some of the Nikki games and I didn't know the fandom was so huge until I started playing. Can I just say, I'm OBSESSED with the physics in the game... The hair and dress movements makes me happy.

I'm a big Nikki stan. I love how the games are made unapologetically feminine, and DON'T shoe-horn in some "romance" or "otome" stuff at all, it's refreshing to see a game made for women not feeling the need to put in random romance (>.> Life Makeover). While it is a thing in the community to simp over the side characters, it's not from the game trying to sell them as romance options. :D Nikki is lovingly/jokingly our daughter.

I play both Shining Nikki and Life Makeover I like tht both games give me a different experience despite both having dress up gacha elements (although I skip life makeover’s story cuz it’s so absurd, like some character gets hurt and next second the game goes “hey try to wear something casual and sexy to fit in this situation” like what 😭😭😭

it might be a dress up game but the story in Love Nikki and Shining Nikki are so dark and sad especially Shining Nikki. My guess is this game is going to be more based on Shining Nikki and is going to be based on the Ocean of Memories and the slightly darker stories and more like what the Hell Events stories are and the darkness of the Mercury Group and maybe have minions like Vulture and heroes like Aeon and Leonid.

As a love Nikki player I can say that its stunningly beautiful. Although the designs get a lil samey after a while they are still made with great detail and care. Unfortunately u have to be very very patient in order to collect the more luxurious designs unless ur willing to pay (and the prices are rlly high) The storyline ain’t nothing special but it’s not awful either. I wouldn’t say it’s pay2play most of the suits are accessible (excepts 4 the ones that are recharges and stuff)A rlly bad thing that love Nikki does is paywalling darker skin tone sets because they are rare

I've been playing Nikki games for over 10 years, and I can tell you they are the best dress up games out there. The graphics are amazing. Right now, the newest inception is Shining Nikki, the 3d counterpart to Love Nikki. I am almost 100% sure this will be like Genshin Impact, and you're going to pay through the nose for it. To put it simply, I am not the highest tier VIP, and yet I've already spent over 11 thousand dollars on Shining Nikki. Paper games will never make a game where you don't have to pay for the clothes. Heck, in Love Nikki, their first true Hell event was one where in order to get the full set with background, you had to be in the top, like 5 or 10 spenders. Seriously, I did the math, and it was over $500 for that one outfit. There are THOUSANDS of outfits in that game! I love Nikki, don't get me wrong, but I don't think the casual player will be able to afford the end price of this game.

I quit LN for the spending reason T-T but I play for 100% wardrobe on SN, and it's $1k a year so far for the first 2 years. Which isn't bad for a gacha game I think, I think real whales spend on the echos for the cards for power (which I'm t100 without doing that on server1, so I think it's more of a enjoyment of numbers and ranking thing). One thing I love about the Nikki games, at least LN and SN, is that there is a whole f2p culture, strategies, etc. And the respect from f2p to whales and vise versa is refreshing for me to see in games like this.

Nikki and the goddess of dreams pretty much sum up the nikki franchise, I guess. I mean they all look really cute and pretty but once you try to understand it deeper it can be quite sad and dark Ps. Okay so, bit late but been playing Paper Games stuff for a few years now, and it has a chance of being somewhat free to play friendly. The one thing I have to say is all their games always seem to start off wholesome and sweet but turn into something that leaves you questioning your life. Haven’t played much of the Nikki games but mainly played Mr Love Queen’s Choice and all I have to warn is be ready for tissues, a lot of textbooks to understand the main story, and be ready to see characters die or suffer fates worse than death.

I've been playing Love Nikki since 2018. I was very happy when Shining Nikki came out in 2021, which is a very beautiful game but in 3D. I enjoy playing both the games. I hope they release mobile version for Infinity Nikki. The first time I saw the animation, it made me teary very beautifully made 💓

Aaah, i'm a die-hard Nikki Stan™, and months later, this video appears in my recs. YT algorithm is something else indeed. Anyway, in case nobody else has pointed it out, the "real" Nikki in the heart wrenching animated short is the middle schooler. The lil' girl is her dreaming. In the dream realm, memories and fantasy intermingle: the fantastic sights she encounters in the dream are all connected to one of her real memories. -the cockatiels that crash againts her as she falls down = the cockatiel kite hanging on a tree. -the giant rabbits that swept her away = the rabbits drawn in a wall with chalk. -the turtles that cushion her fall = the turtle pattern on the stone street -the balloons that carry her over to the fantasy world = the blink and you'll miss it balloons at the entrance of her granny's house. -the single yellow flower in the rainy street at the beginning = the same yellow flowers at her granny's house, which are also used for her flower crown. The dream is composed memories from one of Nikki's past birthdays from back when her granny was alive. Nikki's b-day is December 6th, which is the date in the calendar that also appears on the granny's house. That's why the balloons where at the entrance alongside other party decorations, it was lil' Nikki's b-day. In the lore, Nikki's grandma has long since gone to rest, she is just reliving a memory through a dream, that's why lil' Nikki cries before the granny even disappeared: even if she is physically her kid-self, she still somewhat retains the mind of her present self, she knows what she's seeing is a memory, that's why she holds on desperately. In the video description, iirc, it said something like "in memory of our loved ones who aren't with us anymore"😭 Welp, there's that! Now, about the writing for the games, while it's not doom and gloom all the time, it does have a lot of heavy and dark stuff. A surprising amount of stories within the narrative depict murder, suicide, body horror, desecration of dead bodies, descriptions of gore, sadism, torture, child abuse, child slavery, normal slavery, stuff that while not graphic or explicit it does have some heavy r*pe vibes, or a combination of those elements. And not just side stories, no no, the main cast's backstory has a lot of those elements. There's this yandere wizard teen in the main cast which is known to have one of the most horrifying backstories of Love Nikki, narrated to the players through the pieces of a suit, Eerie Nightmare. It tells the tale of how this kid's mother hated him since he was born, throwing him in a small cage, never letting him out, constantly beating him up and cursing his existence. Through his short life, he only craves his mother's love. A devil takes advantage of him and offers him enough power that even his mother would love him at seeing how useful he is, in exchange of his soul: the kid must forever be the devil's puppet, a servant that cannot ever go against the devil's orders, not even in hypothetical death can the kid escape from this fate. And so, the kid of course condemned his life forevermore, because what is worth of a loveless life? But instead of pleasing his wrathful mother, seeing his inmense power, the mother grows terrified of him to the point she k#lls herself just to escape him. The kid, horrified, starts laughing uncontrollably, brokenly, finally coming to face a truth most ugly, a painful truth he was in denial to: that which he craved was never on his reach to begin with, his mother not only never held an iota of love for him, she never would, no matter what he did, no matter how hard he would try, nothing would ever be enough to make her love him. Only the delighted giggling of the devil, alongside the child's deranged laughter and sobbing, could be heard that silent, night as he stood over his mother's body. As you can see, his backstory explains why this character is the way he is, and... it's pretty heavy. And that's just one character. There's this undead, souless, sadistic doctor that regularly indulges in body horror and performs necromancy and invasive experiments in exchange of human souls in his liminal horror clinic. This doc has a scar all over his neck, it's from how he died, he k#lled himself tou use his own life in a demonic ritual to revive his dead younger sister, but it went horribly wrong, and now he's stuck as a still moving dead body, having lost almost all his empathy and humanity alongside his soul. This is just one of the villains, and not a main one. See, there's plenty of stuff such as this😅 I hope reading all that isn't a chore, I just wanted to share some of the lore with a potential new player of the Nikkiverse ™ (lol), so you can get more or less an idea of what to expect. Don't misunderstand me, tho! There's also cute, chill stuff that one would expect to see when looking at the games at first glance, such as Nikki's friends preparing a secret tea party for her, or Nikki & co. having fun playing MMORPGs, but main story wise? You get the hardcore stuff with machines becoming as gods a la NieR Automata (no, it's not hyperbole, the second most powerful of the main guardian deities of the Magical land the games are set up in is an ever evolving AI from the future that evolved so much millennia after the fal of humanity, that she not only gained self-awareness, she reached enlightenment and became onmipresent throughout all the alternate timelines and universes, traveling to the past to ensure the creatures that created her, humanity, don't fall as she has already seen countless of times. It's quite literal Deus ex Machina. The first most powerful deity, now I won't mention, bc that is one of the biggest spoilers ever, the type that once you know it, it completely changes every event that has come to pass before in the games)

Oh boy! Good thing I got my coffee this morning. Yeah, this video has stayed a good performer for me, and I think it is just because nobody is really talking about this game. But I'm not complaining. it has been so much fun seeing everyone talking so much and so passionately about a franchise they love this much. Especially when before I made this video, I had never heard of Love Nikki. I would totally rewatch the animation to see what you are describing as like symbolism, but I don't feel like crying again right now. In regards to the game, others have also been sharing details about the story, and while it apparently started as just a friendly dress-up game, it has evolved into something a whole lot more. The different and darker tales are crazy to think about, because none of that shows very well on the surface. It does make me wonder though what we are going to see out of Infinity Nikki. Because it is an interesting step away from the normal Formula. And given how varied the story and tone is across the different games before it, it could really be anything.

Nikki actually captured my interest and held ot because it is deeper than just a dress up game. So many of these games are really low effort aside from some nintendo liscenced ones from Japan and so as a fashion fan and fan of all things cutesy and femme, This game naturally drew me in back in the 2D Nikki games with the one I Played being Love Nikki and now Shining Nikki wich is the 3D one. Both are very fun though! You can play them without spending any money at all if you don't like to but there are ofc downsides to that such as lesser rewards in some areas and also less event pulls and such wich can be frustrating but it's also a lot less predatory than other mobile games I've played so I can at least kinda make an exception even if I'm not a huge fan of these practices. But what it lacks for free to play players, it makes up in the story and also the fact that you can earn premium currency at a pretty fair rate imo by doing your "chores" every day for I think about 60 to 100 gems. So you can build up for events even if you don't invest any money it's just a lot slower. Everyone can play the story though and enjoy it and the Reflection cards in Shining Nikki especially hold even more of a backstory for literally every character both from events and the main story too. So you'll never miss out on lore if you don't pay. You can also get a pretty strong clothing arsenal within the shop at first with a few 100 items to make your closet big enough to have fun dressing up even beyond the events and such so even if you put zero effort in each day you'll still have quite a lot of fun with the clothes that are easily accesible. Another thing I do also like about paying in this game is that the game builds up a VIP status you can increase with every Irl purchase so it will permanently reward you for investing real money so that is also way better imo than the constant grind you get in other mobas where you pay and pay and only get small momentary gratification. Shining Nikki and Love nikki will permanently reward you for investing in their games and grant you better drops and more stamina and items in total making it so you'll have a permanent reward for your investment wich I personally really like. And this VIP isn't hard to get either. You can gain it's first level really easily with a very minor one time investment so it could easily be seen as a up front payment for a game. Although I still understand it when ppl don't like this cause it's still ofc as predatory as any other moba of this sort so i wouldn't fault people for not wanting to play because of that reason. Although I do think Shining nikki is a bit worse regarding this but it also got more content to offer so it might be that too. But this doesn't mean that non paying players are at a total disadvantage either. Competitively it's based not in your stats but in how well you can combine outfits and fit a theme. and in shining nikki it's also about posing, photo composition, stickers and lighting and ofc the same is in the nail art studio contests and all of these give you pretty good gem rewards too for just participating so they are both fun to do and also worth the gems even if you don't score very high. It's honestly one of my favorite parts and ppl online get very creative with outfits and stickers too it's pretty neat to see! Mainly though I'd say the games are really fun games you can play a bit each day for a bit of fun and they also don't hog all your time so u can enjoy em if you're usually busy. And Nikki as well as her side characters are actually really well written too giving you a fun story that can also get pretty dark and tragic at times. For a dress up game meant for little girls it is honestly really well made and clearly also made with a lot of passion for fashion and story telling and I couldn't say that I don't like it simply because of that. I'd say that the best way to figure out if it's for you though is just to try it out and play it. And another thing I wanna give ppl that might play it is to not focus too much on completing outfits especially event outfits. There will be sets you can gain easily and sets that would be insanely difficult to complete but that's ok. You don't have to always complete every outfit set. Sometimes it's better to just enjoy the item you got from a gacha pull and see how you can make a outfit around it for your avatar especially in shining nikki where clothing isn't as abundant and so drop rates are a bit more unforgiving. If you're patient about it and always try to pull 10 at once, especially in event gachas, 2 or 3 event outfit items are guaranteed to be in your pull so you won't miss out and usually every player regardless of vip status can pull 10 at least once during an event so you'll never miss out on at least 2 or 3 event items once the event is going. So don't worry about that too much either. Just play it and see if it's for you.

Modern GACHA games definitely seem to be a lot "better" than those from 10 years ago. They respect your time and your money a lot more. (With exceptions of course.) I normally am always willing to pay for the "Best Offer" that they always present to you early on when you start playing. Normally it is a lower priced, really good bundle, and it is normally good enough that you can carry yourself pretty damn far throughout the games content. I will probably wait for Infinity Nikki to have as much of a "first time" experience with the franchise is possible. But maybe afterwards I will pick up one of the mobile games.

I mean I am still not very fond of gacha games because a lot of the time the monetization works off of being predatory so u know, as an indie game dev and artist as well I favor games that work the traditional way of paying up front. So I am really hoping that the platformer will be that. And I‘m also really excited for it. It reminds me a lot of alice madness returns wich is also a 3D platformer with a similar aesthetic just with a horror theme to it, but I am really excited for this one. And I think it‘s a good call to wait for it to be your first experience too. I‘d assume the mobile game route for many companies is a crowd funding thing nowadays it seems. Where these companies use the revenue made by them to fund these massive projects like 3D animated movies and also games such as this one. All in all I‘d say though that I do wish there were better ways to monetize it without the predatory aspects. But this is the world we live in sadly. And mobile games are just really profitable. Not gonna get into the topic of industry too much though. As a kojima fan I know how messy and opressive these companies can get too but yeah. I guess it‘s a complicated thing. But Shining nikki if you play it mindfully and carefully i think it‘s a fun experience. Although I always say ppl easily addicted to gambling and stuff shouldn‘t play these games for obvious reasons. But for dress up games in general, love nikki is pretty great. And thankfully now with fashion dreamer out we also get a experience that‘s a one off payment one. Sadly that one lacks a story but it is fun for ppl that like fashion and making outfits. Or ppl like me who like to use these games for inspiration for design work too. I‘m really just glad that shining nikki and the nikki brand in general are feeding fashion lovers in the gaming scene today. Because we really didn‘t get much aside from the style savvy games on DS systems and a few flash games back in the day that were mostly imported games fantranslated from japanese to english.

While the amount of in app purchases in love nikki and shinning nikki is disappointing, but I've played for years without spending a single cent and i can still play the whole plotline and as much of the events as i have time for. It takes much longer to do without spending money, but I always seem to have enough or excess stamina and chances and such for the time I have to devote to a mobile game probably way more than I should haha. You can't speed through the game without paying, but it doesnt permanently lock you our of any plot for not paying (as far as I'm aware). If youre a completionist and want to collect all the clothing though, then there's not really a way to do that without paying real money which is unfortunate. But there is like sooooo much clothing in the game to collect that I personally don't feel too bad about not being able to collect all of it since I can still make nice outfits, complete stages, and participate in competitions without feeling like I can't make the outfit I want. Though the amount of money I have heard some people have spent in the game is insane to me. The lore can get intense. There are several moments that have emotional gut punches and one comes to mind that particularly devastated me that I have not gotten over in the 5 years since I played that part of the story in Love Nikki. The newer title of Shining Nikki also has played with things like changing screens in a way that i think is unique and comes off as very ominous (intentionally). They are pretty good at using the setup of the game to the advantage of the storytelling my opinion. I am cautiously optimistic for Infinity Nikki because of it. The trailer seems a little generic, but the studio has told some pretty cool stories and used previous mediums to their advantage so I am hoping the new game is also enjoyable (and not dlc heavy). Shinning nikki also has amazing graphics (and all the games have beautiful art). When I first got it, I couldnt stop turning nikki back and forth to watch the fabric and hair move and bounce around. Even the detailing is amazing. I usually dont go high graphics on many games, but I play shinning nikki with the perfect graphics option because they really went all out. The movie definitely looks gorgeous though and they really went all out with that gorgeous animation. I've seen that teaser 4 times now and it chokes me up every time. Edit: Oh it also can get rather grindy a lot of the time to progress in the plot. That’s kind of annoying sometimes (especially with some of the outfits). It’s not so bad that I would stop playing, since oftentimes it has other things for me to do without feeling too stuck (shinning nikki is better at this in my personal opinion) but i’m sure that turns a lot of people off of the game, especially if you arent as interested in the side activities like the challenges and competitions and psudo-socialmedia things it’s got going on.

Sounds like a LOT of pretty standard Movile Gaming stuff. I have played a massive amount of mobile games over the year, often with GACHA systems present. Or just aggressive monetization strategies. They are always unfortunate, but sometimes the games are just good enough that you accept them. Games like Record Keeper, Memoria Freese, Arknights, Honkai: Star Rail. I don't know if I will gloat Shining Nikko, but I'll continue to keep my eye out for Infinity Nikki.

I've played Love Nikki and a bit of Shining Nikki. It's was a simple log in, do dailies, log out, and slowly collect stuff for the hoarding dragon inside of me type of game. I wasn't really paying much attention to the story, but shiiiiit did it suddenly get dark out of nowhere... (Spoiler alert) So like I've been playing this game on and off for a few years, slowly chuging away at the story quest. Which was for the most part kinda meh... Then out of F-KING NOWHERE, One of Nikki's best friend's get MURDERED in front of her eyes by some naz! looking shit head! WTF!?!? So then the story was like, "Let's go get revenge!" And I was like, "Yeah! Let me at that lil f-cker!" But alas, this is a dress up game, and before I can do so, I gotta take a few irl days to craft an outfit or else Daddy stabs your wifu over there deafets me easily... Sigh... Speaking of Daddies, there are quite a few good lookin husbandos in love Nikki. And there's a whole side dress up game for them too, but they only get 2 free outfits (one being a bathrobe, lmao), and maybe at most kinda 2 or 3 paid ones... I say kinda cause I have no flipping clue how to get them. The game doesn't explain it very well. And even so... It's not exactly a lot of outfits to mix around and play with anyway. So it's pretty pointless... Maybe the Chinese version of the app has it better? Because the global version of Nikki has always been getting the shortest end of the stick...

It always feels like Global releases always suffer the most in these types of games. I know that mobile gaming is larger in eastern markets, but I can't imagine revenue from the west is that bad.
