Lucy Thomas has a powerful but silky smooth and controlled voice. Her rendition of this song is the best ever. Just amazing. And she was just 16 when this was recorded. Every time I watch this I tear up. There is nothing much more to say except WOW!!! You also need to hear her duets with her younger sister. They are beautiful together. I think she may have left out a verse from the original.

Another comment. The all Thomas family is an example. I love them all, the parents, the friends, the sibling Martha. The parents did not let Lucy to be in contact with the showbiz at a too young age. They let her improve her vocals capabilities since she was seven but no contact with showbiz. If you look and listen to Lucy's videos, you see she convey conservative values : love, altruism, gentleness, careness, strong bonds in the family, hard work to fulfill your dreams. (No fast celebrity in some TV show.) Some could not like this , but for me she is the quintessence of humanity ❤❤❤❤❤

I would describe the look on your face, when you're trying to figure her out, as one of baffled bewilderment -- just like mine when I discovered her on KZbin one cold December night in 2019! She warmed my heart that night (for about 3 hours of video after video!) like a cup of hot cocoa, and she's been warming my heart ever since! I could not believe the angelic beauty of what I was hearing and who I was seeing, and who I later got to know was as beautiful in her heart and soul as she is outwardly. The first song I heard was her cover of Snow Patrol's "Run" at age 14 -- just her, a microphone, and a music track! Unbelievably beautiful and emotionally powerful! Hope you'll react to that one too! She also did "Run" at age TEN, which was also amazing! JUST TODAY BTW, she released "Above the Clouds," a duet of herself and a singer named Will Callan, which she will be performing next year (along with many more songs) in a musical play 'Rosie" at London's famed West End Theatre. She will have the starring title role. She and the musical's creator Chris Broom of Cavendish Records have been working on it since prior to Covid, when she was about 14. It's based on the true life story of Rosie Boote, a young girl who grew up in an Irish convent / orphanage, but left for London to find adventure and fame as a "Gaiety Girl" (chorus girl of that day), but ended up marrying into English royalty, becoming the Marchioness of Headfort in 1901, against the accepted social norms of that day! She passed in 1958, having witnessed three royal coronations during her lifetime.

That was recorded 3 years ago when Lucy was 16. Now 19 many would argue that she is the best female vocalist out there singing in her style, which is to cover with technical perfection some of the great songs originally recorded by divas such as Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Eva Cassidy and Barbra Streisand. To hear how much more her voice has improved since that recording try her latest solo release of a couple of months ago covering Streisand’s ‘Evergreen’. And then try the duet with her little sister Martha covering ‘The Prayer’ originally recorded by Andrea Bocelli/Celine Dion.

Try her version of “Evergreen”. It will amaze you. But then everything Lucy and Martha record is amazing. They are just salt of the earth people. Just so you know for future reactions to her, you never have to worry about copyrights or blocks from Lucy or from London-based Cavendish Records with which she is signed. A very nice reaction to Lucy singing Hallelujah, it has to be one of the best versions ever recorded, she was 16 years of age when she recorded this cover she is now 19 years of age. she has recorded 4 CD'S, she has a sister who sings with her on some of her covers, her lastest cover is Evergreen from A Star is Born a must to watch. The Lyrics are the same as in the original... Lucy gives the song a completely different vibe. For example, if you listen to Coldplay's Fix You and then listen to Lucy's version, you wonder if it's really the same song. She turns the whole depressed mood of the Coldplay version into a confident and comforting one. That's why I'd like to recommend you listen to both versions back-to-back to properly assess Lucy's talent.

That song is over 3 years old and the first song I ever heard Lucy sing, a couple of years ago and this young lady hooked me like no other singer EVER has in my 82 years !!! She has the QUALITY, technical clear, clean enunciation I have ever heard in any singer and she was only 16 years old !!! Her first commercial recording was at 13 when Chris Broom signed her to a record contract, after she appeared on UK kids talent show, yes she is British, where she made it to the semi finalist round. She and Chris Broom are o producing the West London Musical ROSIE which was delay over 2 years by the covid lock down but is back on tract for a fall 2024 release, She has about 6 dress rehearsal ORIGINAL song recordings released they are BROKN DREAMS at 18 at 15 STARLIGHT, SUDDENLY, GENTLE BREEZE and at the end of Gentle Breeze a suggested song ONE DAY, only place to find the video, which will be the opening song to be sung by a 7 year old Norah Thomas, no relation, the musical is about the true life of ROSIE BOOTE in the 1900's. Lucy has one other original song BRAND NEW DAY, sung foe a to be announced TV series theme song. Other Lucy songs o listen to are EVERGREEN, THE WAT WE WERE, AT LAST, MEMORY, OVER THE RAINBOW Lucy also duets with here 5 year younger sister Martha and their most recent was WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD, SMILE, a mothers day celebration where they are joined by their Mother. what is different is Lucy sings with a CLEAR CLEAN understandable enunciation where you can hear every word she sings, QUALITY singing and not just screaming !!!

That first part is the original lyrics...no changes there. I think maybe you've just heard some of the other tons of verses that have been added from time to time. These are all very familia verses that existed for the song--just a few, of the MANY that are available. The chorus in the background for the final verse is a little different, but only because she's singing the harmony, while the "choir" (which may actually be her, or her and Martha...not sure about that) is singing the melody. Still...no actual change to the usual lyrics or pattern, over-all. Other than that, she just throws in a few extra notes here and there. Still...she stays really close to the original...just embellishes the chords. What I would love to hear (that nobody else in the comments below evidently thought of, is to hear her sing with Dan! 😀

Most males will try to over power a female singer, lucy had that happen at a charity even she sang with some guy named Hercules, and had not even practiced with him and he bellowed like a bull and drowned lucy out, she was 15 at the time and we saw that pi$$ed her off and she gave it her all but a 15 year old girl will not be able to compete with a bellowing bull

As near as I can tell only the delivery is different... the key change and the strong belt weren't in the original. Definately check out her rendition of "you raise me up" with her sister Martha. Back when they were 11 and 16

Leonard Cohen wrote at least 80 verses of this song, which has been covered like chocolate on ants. The fact that the composer couldn't figure out which vesrses he liked best sort of gives unlimited license to change it up. I have heard these verses before, but this is a lighter tone than almost all of the versions, expeciallhy Cohen's which is melancholy and has had most of his religious references deemphasized, and the Song of Solomon references played up You can now add Lucy to your expanding list of youtube cover artists, good luck keeping them straight without a program.

Yes she used the lyrics of the orginal song, but she has changed the melody and the pace of the song just a little and all the rest is her voice and the powerful way she sings it. Lucy is a singer at the same level as Amira Willighagen, Angelina Jordan, Aurora. And as all the others she has her very own stile of singing. Lucy, she is 19 years now, has also recorded a few duets with her younger sister Martha: it is awesome stuff what you will see/hear!! Next year it is planned that Lucy will start performances in the London Westend: she has a prominent role in a brand new musical called "Rosie". A few of her released songs are from that musical.
