If you're looking for r&b in Kpop, NCT 127 is definitely the way to go! Their new album's b-sides are filled with r&b tracks and their older albums have a lot of r&b too. They really thrive in that area. Their music is just really diverse and they pull all of it off it's really fun!

NCT 127 is permanent unit they don't switch members. During debut 2016 "firetruck" only members Taeil, Yuta, Taeyong, Jaehyun, Winwin, Mark, Haechan was in the song (7 members) then their next comeback "limitless" they added members Johnny and Doyoung making them a 9 member group and finally during 2018 they added the last and final member Jungwoo during "regular" making nct 127 a 10 member group. Winwin is on an indefinite hiatus from the group since 2019 so they are currently a 9 member group now. By the way Mark and haechan is also in nct dream another fixed unit. And winwin in wayv nct chinese subunit also permanent. The only unit that switches member is "NCT" U the members vary from this permanent subunits (127, dream, wayv). They still perform firetruck in concert till these days with 9 members. So basically they started with 7 members then added 2 members then added the last 1 member 7+2+1=127 I don't know if sm meant it or this is just a coincidence cause 127 is the longitude of Seoul w/c is the origin of 127.

NCT b-sides are more R&B than anything else. It's like, it's mostly smooth R&B, then sprinkled with ballads, pop, dance tracks and the occasional crazy or wild track... everyone just knows them by their experimental, hype, rap focused title tracks, but that's definitely not what the majority of their discography sounds like.

Hi! responding to your question in 4:47, NCT 127 is a fixed unit same as WayV and NCT Dream, The one where they rotate the members depending on the song is NCT U. Buuuuut when Fire Truck was released in 2016 WinWin was in the group (he currently promotes with WayV and has been inactive in 127 since 2019), Johnny and Doyoung were added to the unit in 2017 and Jungwoo in 2018. They do perform the songs but they split the lyrics between the 9 active members.

127 is king and pioner of noise experimental sound song, thats their branding since the start, n SM known for their idealism they wont change or shifting nct127 colour from that to some more " market friendly " sound, but believe me their bside is full of RnB, ballad, disco? 127 is the unit with the most rnb songs lol. If they release a mini album 3-4 songs are rnb and if they release a full album then 6-7 songs in the album are rnb. Unit with the most rnb and ballad lol. Their album format goes usually something like this 2-3 songs that are club music/hiphop, 1 title track, 6 rnb songs, 1 ballad, 2-3 playful/happy/inspiring songs. And sometimes they also do 1-2 edm tracks in the album.

their new album 2 baddies is almost all r&b so you will probably love it. From other albums, aside from the songs you heard here, I recommend Magic Carpet Ride, The Rainy Night, White Night, Knock On and Focus. They don't change members for NCT 127 anymore, they debuted as seven members an added 3 new members after, one of them, though, changed units in 2019 so they are just 9 members now but the line-up haven't changed since then and I doubt they will add new members in 127.

4:44 they don't really switch members. The only "switch" that has happened which wasn't even a switch was WinWin going from 127 to WayV. The thing with 127 is that they debuted with 7 members so Firetruck (the unit's debut song in 2016) didn't have Doyoung and Johnny who were added to the unit in 2017 and Jungwoo who was added in 2018. For the members who weren't there for songs, they just rearrange the line distribution so they're included. There was no switching or other people really except for WinWin who was in the unit until 2019 when WayV debuted. The reason was because WayV is the Chinese sub-unit and WinWin was the only Chinese member in 127 so it was probably easier for him to be in WayV instead of juggling 2 units that are promoting in 2 different countries at once. So members were only added bcs they started as 7, then the next year 2 were added, and the year after 1 one more was added and it was a play on their name. 7+2+1 -> 127

At 22:01 you're right his name is Jaehyun, he audition as a rapper but later he was shown potential as a vocalist that's why he became one of this unit (nct127) main vocalist but still he's given a chance to rap on other bsides and now in 2baddies. on the other hand Johnny the guy on the other end audition as a vocalist but later became a sub rapper, and sometimes he's a sub-vocal too. NCT members ( in different unit ) are all rounder all of them can rap, sing or dance even composed their own song.

the unit that get switches members according to songs is Nct U(Nct hv 23 members and counting)...dreams wayV and 127 are fixed units. nct 127 b sides r filled with r&b taeil and doyoung r the best main vocalist in the whole of NCT. about nct, sm definitely KNOW what the trend or what the general public would most likely enjoy, and they have a great deal of ways to produce top tier "traditionally" good songs. it's just that isn't the concept of nct itself. nct has really complicated concepts and systems which only structurally unconventional or strange sounding title tracks could support. their concepts range from space cyber cowboy with an almost don quixote like ridiculousness in the confession of love (sticker), to an unconventional diss-track (cherry bomb) where the singer does not go "im superior so ur efforts of bringing me down r funny" but rather "it would be hard to bring u down, and although ive tried, i only went from being a benign cherry to a cherry bomb with limited power. ill have to wait for you to let down your guard before swallowing me in, then ill enjoy the fruit of revenge and explode in your stomach. yet all this would cause me to burn all of me down. if there's another way, i would've chosen it, but i cant and i will choose this to save my dignity" like...how unconventional is that?? to using maori chants as a form of farewell and resonance to a member who would be transferring to another subunit (simon says) to the exploration of trauma and how would one cope with this unavoidable emotion (which is still face it and just scream "no more trauma") (kick it)...so so so many more cases. nct concept is just... so remarkably interesting and thought provoking if one would just give a little attention to the lyrics and composition if u just love songs that are more conventionally melodic and pleasant then u'll find home in nct's besides. they be making some of the best rnb's, ballads, hiphops, and just pop genre songs in general, and they explore realms of futuristic, cyberpunk or techno, retro or 2nd gen kpop sounds, tribute to the 90's etc. they truly are a well-equipped group, because of their difficult concepts, they re required to have high levels of music strength to handle them, especially for 127 whose title tracks are the most unconventional, their vocal lines r the best among all three fixed subunits of nct. the difficult songs and the high quality vocals uplift each other, making songs of nct easily loop-able. oftentimes i would loop their music just for the sheer enjoyment of the quality of their vocals and the interesting ways each member would utilize or manipulate their voice in the songs-after all, they have very distinct timbres and each could achieve a diff type of resonance with their voices. for me, listening to nct has always been a musically rewarding journey. whether it's their title tracks or b-sides, members put all their effort into increasing the vocal quality of the songs to the fullest, and their vocals alone elevate the listening quality and the quality of the song itself. not to mention the intricate production of each music-most nct songs r very well developed musically-despite not entirely conventional and "pleasing" to our ears, it tries to evoke or explore emotions that we normally dont get from usual kpop genres. their music can be so rejecting of the popularity of the period they are released that they give nct a true sense of rebellion-a new taste to those that want both high-quality production and new sounds to the ears. that is why not unfrequently would we listen to an nct song and be like this is so weird, yet go back to think about it, and eventually return to listen to it again and again. in short, nct really brings about change to an overall fixated industry of kpop, adding completely new elements of voice into this genre. it is very fair to say, kpop would have been less interesting

Here is some information about how NCT works. I hope this might make it a little easier to understand. NCT is different than any other Kpop group in the industry. NCT (which stands for Neo Culture Technology) currently has 23 members and the group as a whole right now is broken up into 4 sub-units. However, NCT technically has an infinite number of members. (There are an unknown number of trainees who are still waiting to debut who could potentially become members of NCT.) As SM Entertainment's male trainees graduate from the training program and SM decides they are ready to debut, they become a member of NCT and they debut as part of one of NCT's sub-units. (They most recently added 2 new members -- Sungchan and Shotaro -- at the end of 2020, who are expected to eventually become members of a new sub-unit.*) *NCT probably will be growing to 26 members soon. SM has been showcasing 3 new SMRookies -- Shohei, Eunseok and Seunchan -- lately and they just recently performed in SM's SMTown concert with Sunchan and Shotaro. So, by all indications, it looks more and more like NCT will be getting 3 new members and they probably will be part of the new unit. It is speculated that the next sub-unit will be a Japanese based unit because Shotaro and Shohei are Japanese. NCT is a group that is constantly changing and rearranging its members and sound and we never know quite what to expect from them. With an ever expanding number of members and a concept that allows the members to rotate between sub-units, changing, adding and subtracting members depending on the unit and concept and style of the song, NCT style and sound is constantly evolving. LOL NCT is a very international group. The members as a whole currently represent 9 different countries and they speak 8 different languages. For example, there are 10 native Korean members (Taeyong, Doyoung, Taeil, Haechan, Jaehyun, Jeno, Jaemin, Jisung, Jungwoo and SungChan), Mark is Korean-Canadian, Johnny is Korean-American, Yuta and Shotaro are Japanese, Ten is Thai, Lucas is Chinese-Thai from Hong Kong, YangYang is Taiwanese but he grew up in Germany, Hendery is Chinese from Macau (China) and 5 mainland Chinese members (WinWin, Kun, Xiaojun, Renjun and Chenle). NCT-U was NCT's first sub-unit which debuted in April 2016. NCT-U is made up of pretty much all the members, they just add and subtract members from all the other sub-units depending on the concept for the song. NCT-U songs can have anywhere from all the members or only 1 or 2 members. The U stands for United, but I also like to think of it as Universal because of the way the group never has a fixed number of members. This sub-unit is designed to be fluid, which means the group is constantly changing and rearranging its members. The second sub-unit is NCT-127, which began in July 2016. NCT-127 currently has 9 or 10 members. This group is more of a fixed unit so the members don't change quite as much as the other groups. The 127 in this unit's name stands for the longitude coordinates of Seoul, South Korea, on a map of the world. So it's 127's job to represent Seoul around the world. (In this Killing Voice performance there are 9 members -- Taeyong, Taeil, Johnny, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo, Mark and Haechan. Mark and Haechan are also members of NCT-Dream.) NCT-Dream is NCT's third sub-unit and it is made up of the 7 youngest members of the group. All the Dream member's currently are between the ages of 20 and 23 years old (they were 14-17 when they debuted.) SM originally created this unit with the idea that if they had a trainee that they felt was ready to debut even though they were really young, they would start out as a member of NCT-Dream. They were the cute babies of the group who were learning the ropes and honing their skills because they are young, but they are also some of the most talented because they debuted way sooner than a lot of trainees. The way NCT-Dream originally was designed to work was that the members were part of the group until they turn 19 and become an adult. SM's original plan was that when the members turned 19 they were supposed to graduate from the group and they were no longer considered a member of NCT-Dream. Mark (the leader/captain of Dream) "graduated" from NCT-Dream in 2018, and Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin and RenJun we thought would be graduating in 2019 and form a new NCT sub-unit or be add to a sub-unit that already existed. (Which would have left NCT-Dream with only 2 members, with the idea that new trainees would probably debut sometime in 2020 and become members of NCT-Dream.) However, SM announced at the beginning of 2020 that they decided to make NCT-Dream a permanent group and suspend the whole "graduation" concept, including putting Mark back in the group. The fourth sub-unit is WayV, which debuted at the beginning of 2019. They are NCT's Chinese sub-unit who produces songs in Mandarin and promotes in China. There are currently 7 members in this sub-unit. All the members of WayV have Chinese heritage, but like Ten who is Thai, they aren't all native Chinese. The reason why WayV doesn't have NCT in their name is because, at the time of their debut, the conflict between the Korean and Chinese government was at its peak and China wasn't allowing anyone associated directly with a Korean company to do business in its country. Because of this conflict SM had to find/create a Chinese company -- Label V -- that was willing to represent NCT's Chinese sub-unit, but would also allow SM to have control over the group's concept and activities. Most of the members of WayV had already debuted first as members of NCT-U/NCT-127 + 3 new members who debuted specifically with WayV because they were Chinese. (Kun, the leader of WayV, debuted as a member of NCT's project group NCT-2018, which included all 18 members of NCT at the time.) NCT is SM's attempt at taking over the music industry around the world. SM's goal is to eventually have NCT sub-units representing every major city in every country in the world. Some day they hope to, for example, take several Japanese members and create a Japanese sub-unit, or put together members from Thailand and create a Thai sub-unit, etc. It has always been SM's plan to have world domination. And to that point, right now NCT-127 is the group that SM is using to try and get their foothold in the U.S. music market with all English versions of their songs "Regular" and "Highway to Heaven" and collaborations with American artists such as Jason Derulo, as well as a U.S. concert tour and promotional tours with the American media, etc. So, this year is NCT's 6th anniversary, but debut dates are different for any number of members because it all depends on when they were added to the group. And many of the members of NCT actually became recognized by fans even before debut because they were part of SM's pre-debut group project called SMRookies, so SM did activities with several of the members before they debuted. Taeyong (the leader of NCT and a member of NCT-U and NCT-127), Mark (a member of all of NCT's first 3 sub-units -- NCT-U, NCT-127 and NCT-Dream) and Ten and Lucas (members of NCT-U and WayV) are also members of the very first Kpop supergroup, SuperM, which is a 7 member SM group consisting of members from different SM groups -- EXO, SHINee, NCT and WayV.

Istg I was loosing interest in kpop (not bcs of anything specific) but just because I was more drawn to band and r&b as time went by & so I let go of some groups, spending less and less time with kpop, but a group that ik I will forever keep in my heart is NCT especially 127 cause they never disappoint with their r&b tracks in EVERY album😭

SM is super R&B. All of their groups (except f(x), they were very electronic and experimental) have the best R&B b-sides in kpop in my opinion. Like, from SHINee and EXO to Red Velvet and NCT, all of them have gems in their discography, and most of their vocalists have that R&B flavour to their techniques and voices. This is reason why I'm huge stan of their groups.

nct u is the group that switches members. nct 127 keeps their same members so they sing their parts. but there have been new members added to the group after their debut that are still there permanently like doyoung, johnny, and jungwoo. so for songs like fire truck some of them don’t have parts cause they weren’t in the group yet. all the songs you see in this video are the original singers they’re not taking anyone’s parts. if that helps

NCT U is the rotational unit while NCT 127 NCT DREAM AND WAYV are fixed units. NCT 127 has 10 members and the mgt moved Winwin to WAYV so Winwin is inactive in NCT 127 since 2018 (after the promotion of their repackaged album ). WAYV debuted in January 2019. All the songs they sang in the Killing Voice are title tracks and b-sides. Firetruck is NCT 127’s debut song with only 7 members: Taeyong, Taeil, Yuta, Jaehyun, Winwin, Haechan and Mark. The rest of the members are added like Johnny and Doyoung while Jungwoo is later added when he debuted in 2018 with Lucas.

twas winwin that's in fire truck mv. but since he's now being active as wayv member, so yeah.. he got no lines anyway (winwin and some other member always got less even no lines in a song) so i think his absence is not a big deal in vocal terms
