Nebraska beat Rutgers 14-7 on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. It was an off day for Dylan Raiola and another rough performance for parts of the Huskers’ special teams. But behind the Blackshirts, Matt Rhule’s team did just enough to win its fifth of six games this season.
Connor and Mitch offer their thoughts on a one-score victory for Nebraska, the landscape in college football, what it means to be 5-1, the goal-line stand, the defensive mindset and special teams. Also, what happened with Rutgers’ game management? It wasn’t great.
Join us as we dive into all of it.

Just think how much more stress it could put on opponents defense if they had to worry that Dylan might run it.Maybe not a designed run,but when things are covered or breaking down, just to recognize that and take off and make a few yards or even a 1st down.

The Dylan interception was caused just as much by a bad snap by the center. He had to track a high snap instead of having his eyes on the defense to start the play. Watch the film. Procedural errors have been our biggest downfall all year.

@@bobhingst65It was a high snap. Regardless, he telegraphed his throws. He even went as far as showing the defense what the play was going to be, run or pass.

Before this game, you and every other content creators we're creating anxiety by saying Rutgers was sooo good. One of them even predicted us to lose. But hey, you all have jobs to do. Were 5-1. 1 loss in overtime. Which you can make a case for 6-0, if Nejor wins possession, taking a TD into a PI. Add in questionable officiating and some injury issues, oh yeah, we have a true freshman QB. So who can even utter 1 word about not upset with this team. Or Rhule.. Try being happy for a change. Our Name isnt tainted anymore. Do we need to improve? Of course. But no over reacting to negatives. Thats for Coaches. GBR

I finally figured out what satterfield reminds me of. He's Tofu. What we need is steak, a juicy burger, heck, even barbequed chicken. But he's Tofu. Tasteless, no imaginion, and zero flair.

Nebraska has a big time lines so they will be hard to beat. Their weakness is their QB. He is going to have a rough time in the Big Ten. Rutgers figured him out and it will get worse.

Raiola had a Freshman like game for the first time this season. Luckily we are in a bye week to fix that. For Marcus Satterfield, he’s been suspect as OC. There are times where he’ll call great plays, and then there are times where he calls a play where I’m like, “why don’t we run here?” There’s no consistency with Sat and it’s starting to show. I’d say his seat is pretty warm. Foley is probably gone after this season. Without Buschini, I believe we have one of the worst Special Teams in the nation. I also think Garrett McGuire is not a good WR coach. He’s still pretty young and got a lot of learning to do but it seems like our WRs aren’t getting open enough and also not blocking well on sweep and run plays. I have a feeling that McGuire will be gone after this season and will either join his dad at Texas Tech. Or he’ll head to a G5 school to be their next OC there.

Had the refs given Rutgers the touchdown they deserved on first and goal from the two after the blocked punt in the 3rd Q this could have been a completely different outcome. How both refs missed the call by a full yard... and the review booth not correcting it definitely benefited Nebraska in a huge way

Exactly, just like Fidones td where they ruled him out. Saw a photo today that showed his foot inbounds and ball over the pylon. Got to overcome missed and bad calls if you’re a decent team

That would never be overturned by any sane replay official because there was no video evidence that he scored a TD. Same goes for if they had called a TD, replay couldn’t prove he didn’t score a TD. The Huskers got cheated out of a TD from Fidone and replay officials did have proof he scored. Nebraska scored a TD anyway.
