Tarja did a nice job with this song but Floor is a totally different level. Floor puts an emotion in everything she sings, like no other. She has a much larger vocal skill set than any other singer. And look at how the fans follow her example. She commands the crowd (82,000 people!) in a very natural way and she even does not have to try, the fans do it almost automatically.

I am crying with you, I did a lot of crying first time I heard this version with Floor. I'll be honest, I do cry a lot when Floor sings, she is to me the best vocalist I've ever heard and seen because not only does she have that powerful magnificent voice and is versitile like few others, she also has the ability to express so much emotion when she sings and her stagepresence is amazing. Yeah people often debate the technical abilities of the three singers but for me Floor is the best storyteller and best at conveying the feelings of the song. She knows how to use her great technical skills to maximum effect to get the emotions across. I've never heard her sing a lyric and not have all the feelings behind it.

Yup, I'm 73, and you almost had me crying. I discovered Nightwish with Floor 2 1/2 years ago. I've seen and heard plenty of female vocalists in my life, but none with the stage presence and perfection Floor has. Floor's solo stuff the last few years have been awesome also, starting with the her Beste Zangers show performances.

Just a small Finnish band (With a Dutch singer) and 80.000+ of their closes friends having a little get together. 😉 This was, almost to the day, 10 months after Floors first show with the band after replacing Anette, on really short notice, in the middle of their world tour. Floor was given 48 hours to learn the set list before her debut on Oct. 1st 2012. This was recorded Aug.3rd 2013. There's a video of this song recorded Dec 15th 2012 too. Don't worry, you've got 14 more songs to do from Wacken. This was song 13 out of a 15 song set.

I don't know what it is about Floor, but she sings one note and the onions are immediately cut. I enjoyed Nightwish with Tarja back in the day, but the near constant operatic wore me down so I could only do a few songs and would have to change. I appreciate what Anette brought out composition wise, but again, she wasn't my cup of tea. I kinda gave up on Nightwish for some years until a friend of mine told me that Nightwish had a new singer. He didn't know that I knew of Floor so when he just said her first name, I was kinda stunned and said "Floor Jansen?!?" When he confirmed, I immediately went to KZbin and this song was right at the top. Like you, I was familiar with the Tarja version and I liked it pretty well, so I clicked on this and was blown away. I think Romanticide was my next one and holy cow, that three octave glissando she did at the end just stunned me. Then I saw Poet...that one broke me. Finally the dynamics that I enjoy in a singer was there. For me, it just doesn't get any better than Floor.

Oh girl, The Poet and the Pendulum will be a good one for a no make-up experiment day! Tuomas wrote it in mourning for removing Tarja from the band, and suicidal dread that his music was over. It's been known to make stones weep!

The song is more about the hate that Tuomas got from the fans than about the actual firing of Tarja itself.They already saw that coming long in advance. What Tuomas did not see coming was the hate he received from the fanbase. The fans loved Tarja, and could not believe that the band fired her. Let’s not go into details, but the bottom line is that the fans really took their anger out on Tuomas. He was the bad guy, even though it was a unanimous band decision, the fans blamed Tuomas for what had happened. That is what drove him in his depression, and that’s mostly what the song is about. He felt abandoned and used by the fans. He wrote beautiful music that the fans loved so much, but in difficult times they dropped him like a stone.

I've listened to Nightwish ages ago but didn't find Floor until my mom showed this in December. Halfway through I told her "I'm in love". Nightwish and especially Floor have been making me feel better ever since. I love how their music isn't so dark. With Tuomas' positive view on life coloring it. And Floor is just beaming empathy and light and her performing with her expressiveness and moves is just ahh... Fun facts about this version: When Nightwish fell out irrevocably with Floor's predecessor, Anette, they were mid-tour in the US. The only person they could think of with any chance of stepping in was Floor, and they called her in The Netherlands during her sister's wedding (well, to be fair, they didn't know that) on Saturday, September 29th 2012. "Can you grab the next available flight to Salt Lake City and learn a full setlist ready to stand in - tomorrow is a rest day, so you won't need to perform it until Monday (1st October) evening, and we'll be able to run through it during sound-check?". Well, she did (a monumental achievement), although this song wasn't part of that setlist at the time. But Floor remembered hearing it when her own band, ReVamp, had crossed paths with Nightwish's during a previous summer festival season. During the next few days, she worked on it, adding her own ending and putting her own style on it. They still had the backing track recorded for them by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, London's Metro Voices choir and the London Young Musicians Children's Choir, and just 10 days later, Floor persuaded Nightwish to give her version a try - seven years after any of them had played it. It went into the setlist at Austin TX on 10th October 2012 and has been a permanent fixture ever since. This was during that same tour, with just two concerts remaining after this one. It was the 13th of 15 songs and they had been on-stage for over an hour at the start of this song. After the tour, Floor went back and released her second (and, it later transpired, final) album with ReVamp, then was announced as a full, permanent member of Nightwish. The rest, as they say, is herstory.

I love that you show that its ok to have emotional experiences with good music. I also loved this particular performance of Nightwish. I have listened to other versions of this same song, but just this version is the best of them all I think. And as you said: I whish I was there. It seems to have been an extraordinary experience. But another artist you probably would love to listen to is Lara Fabian, and I would highly recommend watching the version you find when searching for "Je suis malade Lara Fabian French and English subtitles" on KZbin. Its good because it show both the original lyrics and the English translations. Lara Fabian is a singer that always put in a lot of emotions in her songs and that make them so much better, its like if she is opening her heart for you to look into and see and hear what she feels for the lyrics. I dont even understand a word of French but this songs hit me hard.

In fact there is already a word for it, it's called a "Floor-gasm". She is my favorite singer. Off stage she is a wife, mother & humble girl next-door, but on stage she is a Viking Angel & rock star supreme. Floor is such an intelligent and interesting collaborator for Tuomas. She has made a large number of subtle but substantial changes in her Nightwish vocals.. Aside from the emotional and style enhancement to Ghost Love Score, it is Floor that added the dramatic and spectacular end sequence to the vocals. I enjoyed your reaction and wish you well in your year of self-discovery. An old guy says thanks and ciao! Oh I subscribed of course.

Hi love the reaction, thats how i feel every time i hear them. If you want a real emotional rollercoaster then watch the poet and the pendulum but please read up on the back story first as will really help in understanding the feelings.

Her first appearance as fill-in singer was in October 2012, and was still not officially a member of the band until a couple months after this performace at Wacken. Also, this song was the third-from-last song of the concert and her voice is *still* top notch after 90 minutes
