I mean, admittedly, when I first saw it, I did burst out laughing at the "power of a unicorn" lyric and the part where Noa looked like a centaur but it was a unicorn instead. I like the verses, the strings in the beginning (sucker for that in songs) and the dance break, I do think the chorus is a bit weak though. Can't believe im saying this, but I think I prefer Austria to this. Still a solid song but i much prefer the verses, I do like the phenomen phenomen phenomenal and the dance break,chorus im luke warm on (although I do like the string part, but the first part of it 😬). Also love "Shane foder" 😂 thats a mood.

When I heard the song for the first time I thought of you instantly 😅cos for what you’ve mentioned in the past, this was totally your vibe, so I’m surprised you didn’t like it even more! 😂 But I do agree, it feels like the chorus belongs to a different song. I like it overall, but I feel as if the verses and the aesthetic of the music video give a totally different vibe, more mature and femme fatale, whilst the chorus is a lot more teen? Maybe it’s my dislike of unicorns 🦄 🤷🏻‍♂️ Looking forward to seeing this live though, specially the dance break!

I think there is a trend towards songs with big build ups that are followed by underwhelming choruses. It may be an unpopular opinion, but I think Tattoo suffers from the same thing.

We are slightly on a different page here Shane. I really like the verses, and I also really love the chorus. For me, I am just not really feeling the last minute with the dancebreak and rap section. It just sounds messy, and it jarrs on me slightly. I also feel the ending is quite abrupt and that jarrs me a bit slightly too. That being said, I can certainly see the dancebreak/rap part will come alive much much more in the live performance. So I can definitely see it being one of my favourites. Like you, it is almost there, it is just we have slightly different aspects of the song stopping it from being 100% on the money. 😃

I'm honestly dissapointed. Doesn't feel authentic too me, sounds like they tried to create the perfect eurovision song, mixing at least 3 different songs together, and the final result is messy. That last phenomenon part and the dance break don't work for me, giving us the chorus one more time would have been better imo.

"Unicorn" has VERY meaningful lyrics! (This is my take as an Israeli, but as it is a work of art, it is open for different interpretations, so yours is valid as well! :)) Here are the main points to understand: The song is about the relations of Israel (The "I" in the song) and those who perceive her wrongfully as their enemy (The "You"). To all her neighboring countries, Israel stated time and time again "we are not your enemy!" (In the song "No, I'm not your enemy") Also, the fact that the Jewish ppl are originated from ancient Israel ("Do you want to check my DNA?"), and not a colonial foreign power, as falsely accused by it's enemies. As you may know, There is a vicious cycle of violence going on in our region for more than a century that we must break and change ("History caught in a loop, Don't you wanna change it?"), cause Israel is attacked time and time again ("If you're gonna do it, don't do it", ) and is forced to respond. The music also contains elements of the Israeli national anthem - called "Hatikva" - The hope. One of the symbols of Unicorns is Hope and Success, and also strong healing powers. Notice also the colors in the Music Video, they are very meaningful as well! The ceiling is all-red, she wears all-black (Symbols of violence and grief) and switches to colorful outfits when she sings the Unicorn parts from black & white - Those parts represent the hopeful and successful future ("That I won't look back, I won't look down, I'm going up"). The fact that it's all upside-down! (Not a normal reality) They are all very symbolic! Hope all this helps to clarify the lyrics. 😊 Cheers! ✌

so, I've heard someone say a few weeks ago, that there are verse songs, that have killer verses, and the chorus was an afterthought to bridge that gap between the verses, and chorus songs which are the opposite, they have killer chorus and the verses are there to bridge the gap. loreen's tattoo is very much a chorus song. with the verses built around the hook. unicorn, imo, is a verse song, which then got added these weird choruses (which we only get two of as you said). when the first chorus hits, like you, I expected it to be the bridge to a killer chorus but was then let down when I realized, oh, that's the chorus? OK... and then the second one, again, like you said, I was expecting an elevation and evolution and didn't get any. I think definitely the live performance will be the determining factor on whether the whole package is grand final worthy or not (like we got with fuego)

I totally agree with you! This song was so hyped for the past months and now I'm dissapointed a liitle bit. I was expecting something phenomenal. And I don't get those lyrics: "I’m gonna stand here like a unicorn (...) I got the power of a unicorn". The songwriter couldn't find a rhyme to "own" and me came up with this idea that "unicorn" will fit? I find it really silly. The production is good but it's so chaotic that it's hard to sing along. I've heard it 4 times today and after 5 minutes I can't remember it. But I havr to say that dance break is great. She has an amazing voice and she's really beutiful. Wiith a good staging she can finish in top 10.

The song has many good parts but they feel very disconnected to me And also, what does a unicorn has to do with anything? I feel they're just using this word because it sounds cool and different, but there's no real reason for the unicorn The chorus is indeed a letdown, it's not bad, but it's dated and disjointed with the rest. The BlackPink bits are nice and unique for Eurovision. Maybe that's what they were going for, a KPop flare, many KPop songs have disconnected verses and chorus. I personally don't like it, I would feel the song more if the chorus was more interesting And if there were a better reason for unicorn to be in the title and lyrics 🤡

I agree completely on the chorus, I think it's good but it's not AMAZING, like the rest of the song. Its structure is very interesting that's for sure. Also son't forget that Israel in recent years likes to 'test the water' to see what the reaction is and then there's usually a revamp (which was actually bad last year but made Eden Elene's entry from 2021 SO MUCH better)

Absolutely… this is not a dance break. Chanel DID a dance break. noa had to ask us 3 times if we wanted to see her dance then roller around the floor like she was possessed.
