Thanks for your reaction!! If you’re an old K-Pop fan, then you would feel very nostalgic while listening to this song. Dramatic rock music with classical elements (or vice-versa) was very popular among boy groups back in 2nd-3rd gen era. Such songs I recommend (from the period I mentioned): B1A4’s “A Lie” (very emotional), Infinite’s “Back” (the fathers of orchestral instrumentation in K-Pop tbh, blending strings/brass with Rock and EDM elements), Boyfriend’s “Janus” (a bit more R&B), B.A.P’s “One Shot” (more on the “epic” side). The blonde guy is Seungjun, he’s one of ONF’s leaders (they have 2)! ONF debuted in 2017 and went through a military hiatus in 2021-2023 since all of their Korean members left together. They’re all 29-30 years old besides their (Japanese) maknae who’s 25. ONF are well-known for their music, as their discography is very diverse and they never really stick to one genre, while keeping their signature sound. If you like “Bye My Monster”, I recommend to check out “We Must Love”, “Moscow Moscow”, as well as their Road To Kingdom performance “The We Must Love” which remixes both of these songs.

Thanks for the info and for the recs. It's really cool that they all did their military service at the same time.

ONF is a perfect boy group for girl group enjoyers. ONF's main producer is HWANG HYUN of Monotree, who mainly only works with girl groups out of ONF (even well before ONF debuted). In terms of your question regarding if this is experimental, somewhat but also not really? Strings and orchestral elements are very common in ONF's music but the rock element is a bit more uncommon, especially in regards to their title tracks which are usually synth heavy with accompanying cyberpunk and scifi visuals. It may have been a slight risk, but this comeback is proving to be one of their most successful to date! Looping back to what you said about hearing a latin sound, Hwang Hyun's composing often features a Latin Jazz/Bossa Nova influence often mixing with vintage pop influences as well. Songs like One Day by SNSD, Hear The Sea by Red Velvet, You & I by ALICE, and of course many of ONF's songs like Yayaya, Summer Poem, Summer Shape, and Traveler to name a few.

ONF ("On 'n Off")... you already know how much I love this comeback after my numerous posts on Discord about their live performance and the winning encore. Definitely one of my favorite tracks by them. I hoped you would check it out, but wasn't so sure if you'd like it: classical symphonic Rachmaninoff sample, back-to-back with rock ballad elements - normally a recipe for disaster! 😬 It shouldn't work, but it's just such a really nice-sounding, well-rounded production, perfect for their first comeback after enlistment! 😍 Check out "We Must Love" - I consider that a legendary K-pop bg song! ^^

“Like an OST”. Ya…every time I hear this I can’t shake this compulsion to belt out “The LOOOOOve boat…😘” (lol exposing my age here.). Vegas show tunes vibes hands down. Loved them on Road To Kingdom. Recently met them on their tour. Came home with lots of photos, adored them to pieces. But think they should seriously consider stand up comedy as a side job. Their translator was probably like “I’m leaving. Don’t call me next time! 😡” 😂😂😅
