I didn’t even realize we had 2 back. I knew we had Asa back, and he’s great. Also knew McMillan was back at full strength, and that Giles could play in the post season and still return next year. Even with all that, I’m still a bit surprised we won.

Missed the 2nd and 3rd quarters, did ya? It was wild. See, Oregon was down 20-3 and then they scored 21 unanswered points and took a four point lead! It was crazy, right? Husky fan here. Another classic between these 2 teams. That was one of the best Pac-12 game I’ve seen in my lifetime. Hats off to the Ducks, gritty and tough team. When you guys rattled off 21 straight points just like that I was sweating big time. And that last TD you scored was amazing. I felt like this game was won by UW in the trenches. We are built for close games, not for blowouts, and that played out week after week. I have to admit I heard all the predictions this week and started to doubt whether UW could actually beat Oregon this time. You could see from the moment Bo Nix took the field in the first quarter that he was feeling the weight of the moment. He seemed to settle down but it was too late. Penix seemed more loose and confident. I also felt that UW outcoached OR and that was ultimately the difference. I feel for you guys today, the agony of defeat is a painful mistress. Good luck in your bowl game, and we will see you next season in the Big 10! Go Dawgs!🔥

Two evenly matched teams. The difference: Oregon clearly outcoached and (it seems) the Ducks spent too much time team basking in the point spread and hype that they were going to club the Huskies. The play-calling left a lot to be desired, especially with Will Stein. Lack of first half adjustments really, really hurt the Ducks. All that said, the Ducks are on a good trajectory and we can expect they are going to be very good in the Big 10 fairly quickly.

The Penix incomplete pass that was called a fumble on the field was properly overturned. It was clearly moving forward before contact was even made. DJ7 has been putting up big numbers all season despite the obvious pass-first UW offense, so him running effectively was no surprise. The 2 things that were different from the previous meeting were a healthy McMillian and overall defense. Without 11, UW doesn't just have the automatic mismatch in the passing game that it does with Polk, McMillan and Odunze that leaves a safety or nickel on an exceptional receiver. Without a tremendous pass rush a QB like Penix will carve any defense up in 1A football. This is also the reason UW will likely have success moving the ball in their next game. The UW defense played every down, they never just gave up on the play until the late TD by Oregon where a play on the ball wasn't made and poor tackling/angles were taken that gave up a score that UW would have likely allowed in trade for the remaining time. Ultimately the UW offense was able to close the game out rather comfortably.

Playing man defense against 3 nfl ready receivers is insanity I’d rather bottle up the receivers and play it safe and give up 200 yards to Johnson he was banged up all game. They had 2 receivers over 100 yards we take away even one of those receivers they don’t convert as many third downs and we for sure win the game but just loading the box and forcing guys on a island against those receivers just wasn’t a good defensive plan to me but good game huskies

VIDOE IDEA: I played D1 & have been a head coach in high school. I feel like Lanning got out coached - might be an interesting video for you to do. I love Lanning but he’s learning. Game 1 is coached his team out of that game on accident. Game 2 he setup them up for failure on accident by not being prepared on offense - he gambled on a pass happy “put the ball in my best player’s hand” game plan but it wasn’t our strength. Hardly no runs. He gambled hard on Nix destroying their DBs. Check out the Huskies Coach postgame (link below), he said in the beginning of the interview he knew Lanning was going to do SLANT and RPOs and they practiced for it and shut it down. If our offensive scheme involved “double moves if slants aren’t working” that would have been wide open. But we never adjusted, we just went on to other play designs. Lanning lost the cat & mouse game. He’ll learn, but his aggressive nature once again kept us from doing something safer which should have been: control the clock, run the ball & make them stop you, use nifty plays that counter off play action but are tailored to holes in their defense in the moment. Huskies coach knew what to stop and how. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmGQaGWQaclgo7csi=agkRh3c5lDTswVby

Thoroughly out coached again. Couldn't line up properly defensively. Cautious play calling until we got desperate. Took one shot the entire game to Troy which got a P.I. called then never took another shot. They play to win right from the start and it feels like we are always under attack when we play them, even when we are on offense. They fly up to the line of scrimmage on us because they aren't threatened deep and we play 10 yards off on 3rd and 2. When you lose 3 straight by 3 points, talent is not the problem. Our guys fought really hard to get back into the game. I overall like Lanning and really like the direction of the program under his leadership, but in big games he is not ready to go against elite coaches. Hopefully he improves in that respect, I know he is still young. Ok, I'm done bitching until next year.😂

Nix did not say he was the Heisman favorite, those were the betting odds. He threw for three TDs, and had one pick by a guy who was out of bounds when he threw the ball. Hardly Bo's fault. Almost no one expected this. I'm a neutral fan, and Washington really came to play, and appeared to be galvanized by everyone dismissing them. For whatever reason, Oregon didn't appear ready to play. Were they overconfident? Did they buy into the narrative that winning this game was a foregone conclusion? I don't know, but Washington was clearly the better team. All the credit to them.

Talk about “The House Always Winning” in Vegas. The U/O was 65, and since the score was 34-31, the house won on everyone who played U/O ( as well as everyone who bet UO).

I have to credit Oregon for at least converting when we went for it on 4th down twice; especially the play that scored us a touchdown to T-Ferg. Really sucks we lost Burch so early on and our CBs were banged up. We need to focus on bringing in depth to the D-Line as well as our secondary. I am guessing we will get in quite a few transfers at those positions.

I think the fact Washington was ranked #3 and the bias Nike loving media blatantly disrespected Washington calling them the “underdogs” was their biggest mistake. Washington not only has a great coach and some great players, the team is totally unselfish and believes in themselves despite the naysayers that have their biases and media favorite teams. You will never find a team that is closer either. They don’t just say they are family-they live it 24/7.

Hey Spencer! New listener here, loving the show. I was devastated on Friday but today I am angry. How did a 2 loss Oregon get matched with Liberty? I attribute this to the bias displayed towards the big ten and SEC. Not matching Oregon against a current big ten school was a ratings mishap by the selection committee. Thoughts on the bowl selections?

WA was the better team today for sure and we’re on the first game they matched up in. Thing I’m frustrated about is that WA was not a good football team pretty much every game after the first Ducks Huskies matchup. Hate that they waited till now to play good football. Congratulations on the win hopefully y’all do well in the playoffs. I truly believe that the winner of this game was gonna be in the national championship game. Next step for this program under Dan is building that unbreakable identity that you lean on to win these types of games. It’s being build, but it’s not complete. Out of everything that transpired though the team coming out that flat simply can not happen. Washington was ready, the ducks were not. Gotta retool the secondary, get the qb right again , and hope that some of these freshman are ready to take a step. Tough loss, gotta bounce back.
