I LOVE that he’s coming back! The family legacy seeming to be more important to Mr. Hawkins Jr than money and a sure starting spot is what made college football better than any pro league could be, and I’m ABSOLUTELY here for his battle!

Burks' skill set can make any qb dangerous. To my eyes, Hawkins was missing 2 things: chemistry with at least one of his receivers, and a qb coach that could lean into developing accuracy and decision making. If Arbuckle can facilitate that...a qb from the portal may not be a necessity. 💯

1953 A Year of Greatness... 1953 was a very good year. The birth of the Corvette, the birth of Playboy, and most importantly, the birth of "The 47 Game Winning Streak". Corvette is America's sports car and the Sooners are college football's sports car. After a yearlong nationwide search Playboy chose OU beauty Candy Loving as America's most stately lady in their 25th anniversary issue of 1978. OU's 2-time consecutive national champion squads of Coach Wilkinson are written of by myriad iconic publications as holders of the record that will never be broken.

The majority of NIL money OU spends needs to be on OL, DL & QB. WR's, RB's & DB's are more numerous and you could probably fill those positions through HS recruiting until OU builds this thing.

I think the Sooners need to look at Emmitt Jones and see if he is the right guy for this team. I know he’s a talented recruiter but the loss of so many receivers to the portal combined with the three recruits that were flipped away from OU this signing day make me wonder if a change might help.

I am far more bullish on Michael Hawkins future as a QB than Jackson Arnold. In my mind, the only reason to go back to Arnold was to preserve Hawkins confidence for a better day when they would have more support around him. Hawkins has a lot of style and tools similarities to Mateer as a runner and with his release. I think he will be great in the new system.

Here's the deal, guys. I'm hearing from other sources that John will probably be going to Miami and they have a lot more going for them right now. More than down here in Norman. And I wish Oklahoma could get him. You would think they would with all of the coaches from Washington that have. Came down here to coach in Norman. But money talks and b******* walks and it's sad because money has taken over college and if you pay someone a lot of money, they're more likely to go to the other team because of that.I hope this is not true

Whatever problems Oklahoma has..it's not talent (with few exceptions). It's not players. Venables started with 3 top ten recruiting classes! Either he doesn't know how to evaluate, utilize, and translate that talent to performance on the field (best players left sitting on the bench), or players aren't truly bought in to the program (so they quit on them and then transfer in December). That being said (just my view), do you think the typical OU-sized receiver is too small for the SEC? If so, do you think that's why they all seem to be forever injured?

I just looked at the portal ... we have 20 players from the O all in the portal ... that should tell you something right there. Are we even going to have enough people to field a team for the bowl game? at this rate I dont think we will. I have no issues with Hawk, I have no issues with Burks... We still do not have anyone on the O line. IMO yes we had injuries *BUT* the WHOLE WR room quit... period. If you think its going to be rainbows and puppies next year you are on some serious drugs. IF BV can not get his act together this year and understand it is not the same now as it was, and start getting talent out of the portal... it is going to be lights out for OU. I am 50+ years old and for all the great things BV has done with the D this is by far and above the worst Management/Recruitment/Development I have ever seen at OU on O. Kids today do not give a flip about what happened 20+ years ago. All they care about is Money, Fame, getting to the next level and *SELF* ... Joe C might want to start looking for the next Dan Lanning out there right now. He had a chance to get him but went with BV instead .... Oregon is in the CFP again and OU is sinking fast....Loyalty is awesome until its not ... Then there is 40k fans in the stands and 0-8 in the SEC year in and year out....

Don't forget the history behind the receiver room problem. The problem stems from the receiver room being thinned out for Drake Stoops in 2023. Remember the OU Star Receiver and son of the Bob Stoops Legacy football program man with the Bear Bryant type statue. Drake was the star, wasn't he? NFL tryout? The last time a white guy was OU's top receiver was Tinker Owens in 1975. The receiver room has been in a state of flux since 2023.

They absolutely have a WR room problem man and it’s been lead by the main softie Nic Anderson. You realize back when I was there how many players from all sports that would beef with the medical staff? Tons of them would. The difference was they played for each other and would put all that stuff aside at the end of the day. Nic anderson and all those guys need to be let go (thankfully it’s not needed because they’re leaving) and they need to move forward with less selfish/soft guys in their WR room. These guys (Anderson, Anthony, fariq) are soft and they aren’t wanted playing for our team anymore. Anyone who watches what happened to our team this year from the sideline with no intention or interest in playing is NOT welcome playing for this program.
