About Adela- I truly think that GEFFEN loved Adela, and HYBE did NOT at ALL. HYBE was trying to get her out from the jump- but GEFFEN liked her- and they seemed to prefer skills over potential when considering letting her go. HYBE tried to breach the convo of letting her go before the new girls even came for the survival show, and Geffen people like Missy kept holding it off as long as they could. I think Geffen were more in charge of production for the show- so Adela was shown a whole lot. I really think HYBE had their own idea and agenda and the only thing they probably agreed on was Megan, Sophia and Lara. It was a good collaboration imo because i truly think if it was up to solely GEFFEN, the group would fail. I think debuting talented people is great, but the Geffen execs like Missy and her sister truly did not have good concept of making a long lasting group. As in personalities, having a role, and not having people who are more suited for solo work debut in the group. Geffen don't pay attention to things unless they are direct, HYBE I think was able to see through dynamics and the long-term. Geffen also did not have a good eye for public perception at all. HYBE did. Geffen would have kicked Manon out if it were up to them. I think SO STRONGLY that if Manon did not debut- Katseye would not have nearly as much of a reach. that girl is an attention magnet bc of her past social media presence and just her face alone. We all should know by now as Kpop stans- groups don't get formed just from the peak skilled people. Everyone has a role. people do not like what Bang PD had to say abt talent not being the biggest factor but he is extremely correct. You can be a siren for all anyone cares but if you cannot market yourself and pull attention it does not mean anything at all. If the public cannot become obsessed with you- it won't matter at all. This was the best possible group that could have come out of this show bc it will actually last and gain a lot of hype. Hybe knows this and Geffen did not. This is the whole reason western groups do not last. it was a godsend to have both companies collab for this result.

So true..there a million great vocalist in the industry that doesn't reach no where caz they ain't marketable...but look y Taylor Swift girl ain't the best dancer and she can sing but not the best singer in The world,yet she is the biggest artist in the world right now...I say you have to marketable to make it

Very true, there's a reason why Geffen had Pussycat Dolls, and we all know their shady story lol. Western groups tend to be formed from random people that don't even know each other, so egos are gonna explode right of the get (first mistake). Team work and yes, friendships are super important in kpop groups, that's why these training programs regardless of their strict and hard process are a good thing in the long run because trainees rely on each other sharing the same struggles, so they build up an organic bond through those years. And that's how a group should be formed, not just co-workers hating eachother pretending to be fine, what's the point? Look at 5th Harmony, it was a mess all the time, those girls didn't like each other and they didn't even hesitate to show how shady they were lmao. Also, Adela always gave soloist, I never saw her actually blending with the girls like Lara did (who at the beginning also looked like a soloist). And she's too sexual and matured looking, so I'm not sure if she would have fit Katseye concept at all.

I'm a Dani stan and honestly can't get over how little screen time they gave Dani and even Yoonchae. I can reason out for Yoonchae coz she is still underage and they don't want to create controversy on anything and playing safe, but Dani's journey and storyline were practically nonexistent

I completely agree with everything you guys said! I’ve seen so many different takes on this documentary and some people were so mean invalidating the feelings and emotions of the other girls and just sticking with one side, so it makes me really glad that you guys talked about both sides of the situation and that everything the girls said or did was valid and understandable considering the position they were in. At first I wasn’t really sure if this documentary was a good idea because of all the drama that it created within the fandom, but now I love how more people are tuning in to the group. One thing I didn’t like was the screentime distribution, I wanted to see more about the other girls of Katseye like Yoonchae or Daniela instead of the unnecessary scenes like the therapy session. Anyway, I love your reactions sooo much, not only to katseye but in general. I really hope you guys can see them when they go to Korea. Loved this video!!

I’m really hoping that they have another documentary planned because I would love to see more of the members that actually debuted too 😂 I know there’s behind content on KZbin and it was definitely interesting to see how training was structured, but it was so crazy how uneven the screen time was!

You will have to get busy to get those music stage tix, fan sign tix and pre-recording events, just saying. I don't think you can compare Naisha's NDA breach with Manon breaking the house rules. I think NDA is a very serious thing especially in that industry. I don't know if they used it as an excuse to remove her because they didn't like her skills (they needed 20 people and I think she was skilled enough to be in the survival show), but I think she was removed as an example to the other girls how serious NDAs are (whether the removal was justified or not). About Manon - The girls' frustration isn't just about her missing rehearsals, it's also about the execs giving in a lot to her. She broke a lot of house rules, so they allowed her to live outside the dorm instead. Their fellow trainees, who worked really hard, are being sent home, but this girl who didn't try so much is being allowed to stay. I can see that frustration especially when Adela was removed. She, a top trainee, was sent home rather than this girl who they didn't see so much in the rehearsals. It must have been unfair from the girls' point of view. But I can understand the execs decision in keeping Manon. Star power (which Manon has a LOT of) is important to the group especially in the long run. And it's not like she can't hold a tune, the trainers kept saying that she has the ear for it, she just needs to practice more. I personally love her voice tbh. It's just difficult for the girls to see it from the execs' POV (understandably). I'm glad they all worked it out in the end though.

What pissed me off was that Adela and Naisha(not sure about the name) had more screen time than Yoonchae. And yeah i agree about Ezrela, she's one of my fav and it hurts to watch how she kinda knew she's not gonna make it, but i love how positive she is. I still support her now.

can I say something weird in addition with what you said, that I think of w/ them saying lack of trainees, I mean 120,000 people audition before the survival show was announced they needed a few more to make it 12 so that's where yoonchae, nayoung, hinari, ua, mei comes in. You know what I noticed ? They are non-english speakers, so i was thinking from the very start Geffen didn't want to put non-english speakers in the group or kinda like mostly asian not until they needed coz they were low in trainees so they were quick to add them. I was wondering from the 120,000 that audition I may say that mostly these were if not all are asian auditionees especially knowing it was an audition for HYBE groups so basically like 3/4 would probably be kpop fans or knew about kpop. And honestly the level of talent especially in Asia are so good like korean,japanese, chinese and southeast asian trainees. The way almost all the first trainess did not have knowledge about kpop aside from like Sophia, ezrela, I can say Geffen did not want to have a trainee who is like kpop inspired. Makes me think that they really wanted to move away from kpop. I can say that they didnt research well enough about the kpop market. I also saw like some audition clips that are posted in youtube for the audition back then since bailey sok did the sample choreography for the hybe dance audition part. And they were some who are really good and even in the look department are beautiful. So I was thinking Geffen purposely didnt get a lot from Asia trainees coz if they included them from the very start they might even surpass those others like those like abby who are still a bit in the low ranking. And when the survival show kick in, Team Geffen were really in shambles coz if you look at the rankings before of the girls like adela and the others which are their picks are really low in ranking. And if you watch the documentary you will know who are the girls who they really wanted in the group. There was like a photoshoot part in the docu trailer where there's 7 of them. Adela , Manon, Lexie, Megan, Emily, Daniela, Marquise. I think these were team Geffen's pick to debut from the very start. They were doing screen test in white top and jeans and if you look at the start when KATSEYE did their first photoshoot they were dress in white top and jeans. Like Lara wasn't really their pick even though she has the voice, they wanted to tone her down i guess she comes too strong and wouldnt balance with the overall dynamics of the group they are looking for. With Sophia, at first she was not their pick but watching the doc she really fought her way up (makes me so happy). Yoonchae was the dark horse. When the survival show results came in for the first time, Team Geffen were so shock that their picks were low in ranking so they needed to do something. ------SURVIVAL SHOW KICKS IN----------- Team Still into U(Sophia, Lara, Nayoung, Samara) performance was soo good that fans knew they were debut locked on, also Yoonchae & Manon were part of top 6. Their fave picks have very low ranking. Obviously from just that Geffen didnt like where the flow of the show is going however they couldnt do anything about it since it is a survival show shown in the public. Also somehow the girls knew they would not have a chance seeing the ranking cause the top 6 voting gap was too high compare to the others. Also, fans knew from the start that the management wouldn't put 2 persons who has the same representation it was more like Nayoung/Yoonchae, Lara/ezrela, Samara/manon. One factor I think why Lexie left aside from, that it was against her morals was because her rankings was low and knowing the top 6 ranking debut lock on by fans (Sophia, Lara, Nayoung, Manon, Yoonchae, Samara) she knew she would not have a chance. If you look at the first top 6 I think Geffen was really worried on how the group will be with no white Americans like how would they break the American market kinda like that. (they didnt know the power of kpop fans) When Nayoung & Samara issues came fans and Team Geffen knew the 2 spots for top 6 where left open. However, Dani during mission 3 shine that made her a contender for the spot and even Celeste. So next is the Finale they needed to do something. Now i guess their emergency move was to remove Nayoung and Celeste. When Nayoung and Celeste was eliminated I knew it was to lessen the competition obviously Team Buttons did really great and for sure aside from Sophia and Manon, Nayoung who are sure in top ranking Dani and Celeste ranking will rose up in the finale. So I think they really wanted to put the American trainees and they were worried that they would not make it. With Nayoung leaving only 2 spot is open, fighting for the finale were(Dani, SAmara, Ezrela, Megan).the judges voted high on Megan making her in the group. Thankfully it was Megan. Now when KATSEYE debuted I can say the song DEBUT was the theme concept of the original group which Geffen was supposed to do. Even the music video hybe was not even part of it. Fans where quick to say that DEBUT MV was low in budget but I think in reality they have a budget they even flew in another country and the mv where they were hanging was not even CGI. It just so happen there was no touch of how kpop marketing works. If we look at it obviously Debut didnt got their expectations not until TOUCH came. Touch was really made for the Katseye girls and we can see the difference on how Korean company works. Just look at the My Way lyric mv it was directed by one of the directors of BTS. It was supposed to be a lyric mv but it look like it was an actual mv. Hybe was now involved, they saw the potential of these girls that they really could be the next big thing. With all the issues like new jeans, lesserafim getting hate, they needed to step up the game since other KPOP companies are debuting new girl groups we have Baby monster, izna, meovv, new girlgroup right and left debuting. The level of competition is too high. I'm glad HYBE took part in the marketing of KATSEYE promoting them in Asia especially in korea. We need more a lot of contents cause the way western groups are promoted sucks. That's the difference why Kpop will always be high the level of quality content fans could get makes them stay and be loyal which attracts high end brand endorsements. Having GEFFEN X HYBE ---they got the best of both worlds GEFFEN on the American Connections and HYBE on the KPOP Marketing

I think the reason why there wasn't much more talent chosen out of 120,000 people is because a lot of them probably didn't have the visuals or body types that the companies were looking for. HYBE seems to have the mindset that they can train most people but they can't change the way the kids look.

I'm one of those who watched the docuseries first without knowing about them (I didn't even know who won at the end). I immediately got into the YT Dream Academy episodes and thought that some of the content should have been in the docuseries. But maybe they did it on purpose? Separate the contents so people watch both. I dunno.

I think the girls were not only asked to put their dream group togther, but also to choose who deserves to or who they think will go home this round & apparently a lot of them said Iliya. That is why she was so pissed. She said herselve before, that she feels like the girls saw her as someone who took Adelas place. All in all it was a little much for her, especially because the public said, that she looks to mature.

I am watching this series bc you guys got me in to Katseye, but wow the production was so sick with some of this stuff. You can’t justify some of the decisions they made just to get a fan base going for the group. Cold eliminations? Making the girls pick their members but not telling them it would be shown? I genuinely think all these girls showed so much maturity and grace given the situations they were put in. I guess I’m glad with the way everything turned out, but I have cried like 10 times and I’m not even all the way through yet. I just watched the second elimination and it’s so sad to see them so heartbroken.
