This was Wes Craven's first movie, and usually when you're making a film for the first time, especially if you also wrote it, there's going quite a few bumps in the road. Rest In Peace, Wes Craven.

The remake is actually a continuation to the series. Army of Darkness 2 and Evil Dead 2 Remake is already in the works, with a 7th and final movie to bridge both stories together. AOD 2 will have Sam Raimi as the director, and Evil Dead 2 Remake will have the same director that made the new one.

I agree with you on this movie. I thought the remake of the last house on the left was better. The girl that was shot and raped, survives and makes it to her parents house. The criminals was equally stupid too. But the kid lives and help the girl and her parents exact revenge. Give these movies a second watch. My opinion. Thanks!

If the bluray is similar to the Anchor Bay DVD, the special features are really worth watching and adds to the film. Especially the ridiculously entertaining commentary track with actors Mark Sheffler, the late David Hess and (my personal favourite - may he rest in peace) Fred Lincoln. They are all giving it a pretty hard time for its inconsistencies and yet seems to recall it as an over all good experience.

I never understood this "there's no likeable characters" criticism. That always sounds like someone is grasping at straws when they say that one of the movies weakpoints is none of the characters are likeable. You don't need likeable characters to have a good movie(see Goodfellows and Casino) so I just don't get. You're deffinately not supposed to like Krug and company and I think that's part of the point with the parents.

The music is typical from that period, time and place. Music serves many purposes in film. Its not just a soundtrack/musical score just for your ears to enjoy (or not). The quirkyness is a "settler" for the viewer, a bit like the calm before the storm type deal. Its serves many other purposes, too. The digital rework doesnt need to clean up the grain. The grain adds atmosphere, depth and "realism". For the record many new films filmed in HD using HD cameras end up getting a layer of grain added as it adds depth and feel to the overall tone. For example, the film "300" was grained up, filtered and coloured to add tone and depth. Some scenes demand grain and many directors know grain adds layers that digital cameras just cant produce like 16mm film could. Digital is just too clear for many Directors and post-production usually intervenes and 'corrects' things. The grain haters still see grain but are unaware of 99% of it due to its subtle use. Just for instance, "Predator" bluray has had such excessive use of DNR to "correct" it and make it look as good as possible has been saturated far too much in all areas. Arnie hates the way it makes him look all waxy n shiny as hell. That example right there is typical of what people think highly polished films should look like by adding numerous extra layers and cleaning it up and removing the grain in every shot. Predator just proves that digital can be overworked for bluray releases so the distributors for LHOTL kept things simple. Leaving the all important grain, which most films have anyway. Cleaning out grain 100% removes so many layers it bores the viewer. My guess is you expect a Blu-ray to be clean as hell only to be disappointed when you see this type of release keeping things real with grain and film cell errors still in place. Really, by now, you get the picture and understand what Craven wanted to create. A simple film with simple characters on a simple budget using simple fx and simple post-production techniques. By removimg the simplicity, you remove the films power. The characters (baddies) where technically correct. A bunch of jailbirds on the run so it didnt matter what they did. They wernt arsed about hiding clues etc. The weed backstory puts a virgin teen in her prime youth going out for fun with her mates and finally being able to let down her hair and have fun experimenting which millions of teens did back in the 70s. This is accurate for the film. How they stumble across the dealers is a film story plot line - a simple one. Theres no need for adventurous story telling here just a quick wrong turn and you're in deep shit. Really, you need to rewatch it with a fresh mind and understand why its a cult classic which many hail as Cravens best work. Yes, Scream sucked. Its just too cliched but thats done on purpose but last house is a gritty powerful revenge flick. No gimmicks.

The Last House On The Left was alright. It's not good, but it's not dogshit either. The remake of it, on the other hand, is complete dogshit to me. It's gory, but it lacks substance. That's just me, though.

@kingamoeboid38874 жыл бұрын
I like both films. I think ISOYG is more disturbing than A Serbian Film. This film I admire. I like the lead (considering he made the score). I like the finale when everything is said and done. The bit with the blooded clothes seemed like the killers didn't want anyone to be a step closer to them. 13:57-14:05 That song was in The Hateful Eight (2015), considering Wes Craven walked out of the premiere of Reservoir Dogs.

Im sorry but you are way off, lets talk about the film and what it portrayes. This movie was about the 4 Maniacs and the sickening enjoyment of tortuosity they had towards 2 typical girls which then eventually are murdered and disposed of, The music is exactly up to par on the events that happened, if you dont understand why this music you thought sounds out of place then your not really understanding the depth of this feature, in all honesty you dont seem to understand that this film is a disturbing cult film, not a typical horror film of the father getting revenge, thats only about the last 23 minutes, You realize there not stupid, there just fucking crazy. The message displayed clearly at the end. The Star was Junior Lisso and the Antagonist was Krug, even after all said and done its a masscre and the parents become no different from the bastards who wronged them, become Animalistic. There is so much that you stated in your review, that it is clear that you need to rewatch, honestly its in my opinion this Disturbing cult film that you expected to be a revengeful horror is a film too deep for you, i assume you wondered why the fuck would you pickup some weirdo hitchhiker from the Texas Chainsaw Masscre as well, lmao
