And for good reason. A wholly confused mind often constructs stories to justify its confusion to itself and the tension it can cause may express itself in aggression. [As an example, some people with neurodegenaritve diseases become aggressive, as they can't understand what's going on, nor recognize anyone. But it can also happen in more casual situations with 'normal' people, blaming the first person in sight for their own screw up]

@@krzyszwojciech My Grandmother suffered from neurodegenerative disease before she died. Jesus what a nightmare. Seeing that sweet old lady we all knew and loved turn into this screaming maniac, swearing at us all, throwing her cane across the room, breaking shit. She calmed down after they got her on medication but she was never herself again. Kind of a slow death where the soul seems to slip away in pieces and what remains are the ugliest parts. Sorry, didnt mean to go dark there.

@@Lethgar_Smith I hear you. My observations about this possibility come mostly from documentaries thoguh. Memory and higher functions slip away, fear as well as fight or flight get more pronouced. Depending on the case, some do seem to remain calm, though embarassed they forgot where they are or who they know, trying not to be a bother and for instance wandering aimlessly through a city, hoping to find something... My own grandma, when she couldn't recognize anyone anymore was more of a bit scared and closed in herself than anything else. She stopped talking to people mostly, even though she still could talk, as you could hear her praying at times. Although, the side of the family taking most of the direct care of her had a doctor, so she might have been on medication early to mitigate the worst symptomes. I'm not sure.

Funny thing about the instructions Summer read is that one step tells her to leave the room after she revived Rick and Morty. She doesn't leave and they verbally attack her. In the purge episode she skips a step in her instructions and wrecks the garage roof. Summer needs to follow the instructions more closely.

That line by Summer about not being on schedule was about Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon when it comes to the show. Not sure if that was apparent. I always saw Rick being like Dan and Justin being like Morty. There's kind of a Rick like character in Community... Joel McHale's character I'm brainfarting the name...

17:43 Oh no! You said "on accident" instead of "by accident" ... the "on" is from "on purpose" I did the "reading words I'd never heard before" thing. I'll never forget the reaction from when I first (mis)pronounced "fuchsia" out loud.

Have you heard the term 'malapropism'? That's what Rick used when he said "taking it for granite". It's named after a Mrs. Malaprop in an 18th century play called The Rivals by Richard Sheridan, who often used a similar sounding word instead of the correct one.

For the other sayings I'd say it's fair to get it wrong but "could care less" literally means the opposite of the intended meaning (i.e. that you do care). "Take things for granite" could theoretically be an obscure metaphor but "could care less" is parsable without any prior context.

As a brit "I could care less" always grates for me, and I always got the impression it was the norm in the USA, but obviously not. Recently read that it may be because there's a common Yiddish phrase that when translated easily turns into "I could care less", so I guess it might just be more common in places like NYC with larger Jewish populations.

I think they learned from Interdimensional Cable 2 that the audience was after more standalone gimmick episodes rather than just more interdimensional cable. They only brought it back by popular demand in the first place though. They even say so in the episode.

I could care less is definitely a pet peeve of mine. You won't hear a British person say it. Others that really grind my gears are :- "Chomping at the bit" it's champing. "Brought" instead of bought. This one sadly happens too often in Britain.

It is so gratifying to hear somebody call out the absurdity of sayings like “could care less”. That is one of my pet hates. The other one that drives me up the wall is when people say “could of” and “should of” etc instead of could’ve and should’ve (could/should have). As an Australian I’ll probably blame Kath and Kim, a very popular and funny comedy series about suburbia where the protagonists regularly miss speak common sayings. But then, they were just reflecting what was in the community anyway.

4:55 I love how the way I learned about Contact (and got this reference) is because of some random two drag queens with their little web show... 6:20 I love the joke that Rick here whines about names for the moons and planets and that they should have been counted instead. But literally in the next few mind-blowers he also mistakes numbered planets. Lol. 10:25 Important thing to notice - our Rick and Morty moved worlds, maybe multiple times. Those may not even be our characters' memories, but memories from dead Rick and Morty who jumped to this reality from squirrel reality.
