I'm Korean, even I'm not Polish but This song really touch me especially lyric with "men women children fighting side by side" because one of my ancestor was student volunteer during Korean war. War against North Korean invasion was really desperate. They had to fight against North Korean's heavy tank with tiny rocket launcher and hand grenade and old bolt action rifle. Out number, out firepower, but they were willing to fight. I learned that Warsaw was in really desperate situation in WW2, even though, they were fight bravely. Thank you for great reaction, I will enjoy more of your video and Glory to Great Polska.

Hahaha it's not over yet. But I bet black people in Atlanta would appreciate a song about Sherman's March and how DC stole the 40 acres and a mule he promised. Though the black Union battalions deserve a song for sure. Their white officers were treated as heretics and race traitors by the slavers, and no black Union prisoners were being taken by the South. So it's the kind of scenario Sabaton does write about.

As a Pole I feel obliged to say thank you for this reaciton. Although it is strictly about the Warsaw Uprising it truly connects almost every Pole as one of most meaningful events in recent history. As other viewers stated the intermission between the chorus "Warszawo Walcz" means "Warsaw fight" or "Warsaw keep fighting", this song hits me harder than any other, espcieally performed here, in Poland. Nicely done!

@Gruenschwinge
@Gruenschwinge 3 жыл бұрын
@@zenmanar2 To be honest, my grandparents never fought in the war. My parents motherwise fled from poland after the war. Also I personally think that noone should be ashamed for things, which other persons in his country did. Don't get me wrong - everything germany did in that time was horrible and should NEVER EVER be repeated. But we also learn that we should learn history, to make it better. And therefore we must accept that we live in a country, which did horrible war crimes (and other crimes), but as my whole generation knows about the history, but all of us are innocent as we were born 50-60 years later, we don't see us responsible for what other germans did 50 years before our birth. Our responsibility is that this should never happen again. Also I think that being proud of something, which just happened randomly is rather stupid. I can be proud of everything I did - but being proud of being born in a specific country or for something, somebody else achieved? Why should I be proud for it? So it goes both ways - I am not proud for any of the good things, which happened in the last 80 years, but I am also not ashamed for myself for what happened. It is history and I know that I did nothing wrong. :)

At this point, Sabaton is basically accepted as "Polish". The Poles fought back against the Nazis, and paid a terrible price. They have every right to be loudly proud of how they resisted and fought throughout the occupation. And THEN, the Russians bulldozed over them! There was a point when most of the band split off, leaving only two original members. After that, Joakim and Pers ( am I right?) formed the new Sabaton.

Woodstock/Pol'and'Rock is not strictly a metal festival - you'll find punk, metal, poetry, reggae, folk, rock, literally anything there. And it's such an amazingly positive event, created as a way of thanking the thousands of volunteers involved with the biggest Polish charity (Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity). Fun fact: attendance is completely free. And since it's Poland (basically the Polish-German border), it's a fantastic event to visit if you're on a budget because it's way cheaper than festivals in Germany or France. I've been in this crowd when Sabaton played and believe me, the video doesn't give justice to the energy that was felt in the audience. To have a huge band from Sweden sing about one of the most talked about events from Polish history, and include Polish language (which is notoriously hard, and if you're ever here: learn a couple of words in Polish, locals will immediately warm up to you even when you butcher the pronunciation) - it was really something else. That said, the crowd can get overwhelming - we went to Wacken a year after that and it felt like such a tiny event even though it had more than 80k people in attendance...

Hi there! Dzięki for sharing this. This sounds like an absolutely amazing festival. I need to go at some point in my life, great that there's other genres there too. I'm envious that you've gone yourself, it must have been incredible to be there in person. I went to Kraków a few years ago and I loved it. They had a major lineup change i think in 2012. They were a "hobby band" getting so big that the members had to decide if a life constantly on tour was what they wanted and three of them decided that they had other priorities. There is a performance in Wacken where they, Sabaton style, bring in the old band members as well and use both major stages at the same time.

In case you still care: The Wacken-show was an anniversary, so Sabaton got to use both main stages for half the set. They staffed one with the current band and one with former members. Usually one band only gets one stage on "the world's loudest potato field"

There were around 550k people in that crowd. Sabaton was invited to not come back, because the hosts can't handle that massive amount of people.

The "Warszawo walcz" part at the end of the chorus stands for "Warsaw, fight" in Polish. Yes, it's a song about the Polish resistance and they threw in a bit of Polish lyrics. And it's a country that sometimes is a bit overenthusiastic about patriotism and stuff, but yeah.

Only Poland captured Moscow on its own. September 8, 1610. Zolkiewski at the head of the Polish army entered Moscow, where he ruled for two years. He thus went down in history as the only man to do so. At that time Moscow was under foreign rule and this feat was never repeated by anyone later.

A few minutes ago, (1 st. August at 5 PM) it was the 79th anniversary of the beginning of this heroic, if tragic, uprising, which ended with 200,000 civilian casualties and 17,000 insurgents and 19,000 Germans killed, and the entire city was destroyed in 80%. This uprising lasted 63 days, and the Poles fought without much support from the alliance. I won't judge because who the hell am I to judge the decisions of people who lived in those fucked up times that was World War II. But the most important thing is to learn the lessons that this tragedy will never happen again. The more so that in Poland we are brought up in the cult of the Home Army (AK) and we practically never criticize it, which unfortunately does not bode well for us. I remember when I was in the 6th grade of elementary school (that was 7 years ago) and my English teacher played us Sabaton - it was this song - the first time I heard it, I cried. Seriously. I've loved this Swedish band ever since

Just watched also Swedish Pagans. Nice you spotted the two stages. They had all their previous members playing there together. This was a 2-hour show and the later half of it they played together. The joke in the beginning started some years ago when the audience started to hymn the main melody and it was not on their setlist. Thobbe the former blond guitarist started to play the melody too and then they played it eventually. That happened also in on of our Finnish shows when Pär (the bassist) took the setlist from the floor and pointed the song is not there. He tore it apart and they played it. After this thing has been a planned joke in their setlist :D

Hey again, thanks for watching this video too! I was gutted when they blocked it haha. Thanks for explaining that. So cool that they had past members on stage for that. Love the history behind this ongoing joke with the song, so funny and it's such a fan favourite. 😀🤘
