About Jonghyun, don't worry, we still see them as 5, actually the members said that and made a promise to include him in everything they do as a group, Onew said *the 5 of us will keep working hard to earn your trust and love * He said this in 2018 and we see that in everything they do we see Jonghyun sometimes very subtle and sometimes very present And Jonghyun once said that *If 1 person remembers you it means you will live forever* so we will continue to listen to all his work, remember his advice We will remember his big smile and his love for us and his brothers , you'll notice that we don't use the past tense when we talk about him because for us he's still here Now about SHINee's music, the MVs are very good but in my opinion the B sides are a masterpiece, maybe it's hard to react to the albums but I recommend you listen to them in your spare time believe me you won't regret it SHINee has so many different genres that you will find some that you won't like at least on first listen, I didn't like Lucifer at first but when I saw it live I was like Why I didn't like it at first? lol No matter what kind of music they make it will ALWAYS be the sound of SHINee and that's what makes them so special Yes you will notice a lot Michael, George and Prince, I don't remember them talking about George but they talk a lot about others especially Taemin about Michael influence on his dancing and Jonghyun about Michael and Prince, he talked a lot about Prince when he wrote and composed Moon one of his solo songs
@PathikReacts

Yeah, k-pop has always been heavily influenced by Michael. I enjoyed Michael, but I spent more time listening to George and Prince myself. And yes, I would think to speak of Jonghyun in the past tense, but it makes total sense for the fandom to speak of him in the present tense because while he has gone, his work is still here and the members still see him as part of the group. I'll probably find myself slipping in and out of both. Thanks so much for all your insight.

SHINee is dubbed a "contemporary group" and SM kind on unofficially put them in charge of trying new sounds and concepts in Kpop, that's why they usually start trends in the kpop sound. Many times it may be typical elsewhere, but SHINee usually be the first to bring that sound/concept to kpop, and other groups follow.

Minho (Main ) and Key (Lead) are actually SHINee's Rappers.. and Vocals ofc. Key is Lead Dancer too. And.. so this will be a SHINee JOURNEY? I have to subscribe! I enjoyed the reactions so far. And as we Shawols/Fans say.. therre is always a SHINee Song for everyone. You may not vibe with one but you'd love another. The group and each five members' works are definitely worth checking. Not just the title tracks but the albums too.. tons gems there.

There's something about SHINee's collective sound. Never make the mistake of putting them into any box, SHINee are never gonna fit in it. They have diferent genres sound in their discography and it's a delight to find them. They tickle my musical bone like no other group has managed. Pop, electronic, edm, hiphop R&B, Jazz, classical, dubstep, uk-garage, rock, metal, typical korean ballad, soft-ballad, club, funk, blues, house and so many more. Even if there's some genre that i am not a big fan of, I kinda appreciate its presence in their discography because sooner or later I end up liking it cause it's often backed by SHINee's trusting vocals And if you go to their solo, it grows more.

probably been mentioned before, but SHINee's discography is extremely varied and they're SM's experimental group (alongside f(x)) for a reason. the next song after Love Like Oxygen is Amigo, which has a completely different vibe and sound to what you've heard so far.

Yes.. thank you for checking out more SHINee! They have 2 rappers - Minho and Key. Hoping you get to check out the live of this as well (I see the thumbnail in your video towards the end 😁). And yes they didn't use a backing vocal for that as well. SHINee is more of an experimental group, so there are a lot of releases that don't conform to the usual SM sound. And their releases are usually different and as most say, they are ahead of their time. Excited for you to continue with your journey. If you want to check out another one from Key, I recommend Bad Love. For SHINee, Amigo is next.

A little surprised that some aren't hearing the George Michael/Wham!, here. Love Like Oxygen is one of my favorite SHINee songs (even though it's a cover) and it was this song, rather than Replay, that convinced me to become a SHINee fan back when their first album came out. I was able to pick up on the Michael Jackson influences in the sound and choreography, but there were so many other things that I hadn't been able to place (but knew I was enjoying) and now that you've mentioned it, I absolutely hear Wham! and George Michael, as well. I guess that's the great thing about music, though. Everyone is going to pick up on different things. :) In part, what made me a SHINee fan were those influences. It was nice to hear them performing music with inspiration from so much of the music I grew up on, while always maintaining a unique SHINee sound and look. They're really outright amazing performers and artists and they've grown so much over the years, and brought so much of their own talents and personalities to the music. I look forward to your journey with them. I personally feel like SHINee have always managed to stay out of the typical, or newer SM sound (not that it's a bad thing), but I think we all have different parameters on how much of it we're enjoying/how well it fits a song - so there's undoubtably some of their music that will fall into that category and may just not be pinging me as losing too much of its 'SHINee-ness,' if that makes sense. The great thing is, if you run into SHINee songs that just aren't your thing, there's probably going to be something refreshing right around the corner with another song. Also, SHINee - no matter what genre they're exploring, in my opinion, they always commit to it entirely. As far as Key's Gasoline, some people haven't been fans on their first listens (or at all). I recommend maybe coming back to it, and if it really isn't your thing - definitely check out Bad Love, his first album FACE, and the full Gasoline album. There are so many gems that might be more to your taste! And thanks for giving him a try and keeping him on your radar, as well as the other members and SHINee as a whole. I really enjoyed your reaction and your clear passion for the music, thank you for sharing! (Also cheers to being a George Michael fan and The Cure fan. Both amazing!)

Thanks so much for sharing your feedback and insight. We all have different perspectives and life experiences even when we're born in the the same era. It's natural. I definitely heard Michael in the group as I mentioned in my Replay reaction, but George also did a tamer version of the vocal attack Michael used. And it's mainly the SHINee members' tones that remind me more of George rather than Michael. Quite simply, they were probably going for Michael, but it ended up sounding like George because of their voices. Also, "Love Like Oxygen" could have been a Wham! song for sure. Thanks again.

i always recommend them to people who enjoy a full group that can sing, and even though they have rappers, they never sacrifice on the vocal delivery from all of them. the rap is never the main focus and it helps that minho (and key) usually adapt their style of rapping to fit the mood of the song. since you started from the beginning, it'll be cool to see what you think about all of their vocal improvements over the years which they worked really hard for.

This is just my personal opinion, but I am also not a huge fan of SM's newer sound either. I personally feel that when it comes to SHINee and the newer SM sound, I don't think they've really been subjected to that. Yes SHINee has some experimental songs like Everybody (which is dubstep and it came out in 2013 which matches with that era's sound) but even their recent comeback with Don't Call Me, I personally felt it didn't have that "SM sound" compared to other groups. I'm not fond of those big switch ups either and I felt Don't Call Me didn't have that and if it was there, it was pretty tame. Anyway I am glad you're enjoying SHINee. Also the next SHINee mv is Amigo

Yes, I'm sure they've done all kinds of sounds. We can't always like everything and we'll cross that bridge if we come to it.
