Also, fave line: "Your eyesight just magically got better?!" "YES!"

"Historical Friction" is such a fun episode. Of all the boardies we've met so far, I think Jamie's energy fits the closest with Steven's. It's nice to see Steven with someone who matches his passion and earnestness. I know some folks aren't big fans of these less plot-heavy episodes but I think this one is a perfect example of when those kinds of episodes really shine. Also, I like that you both picked up on the joke/non-joke at the end of the episode ("that's why you always end on a joke"). It's honestly such a witty little line for this "children's cartoon". Edit: And just to note some nice continuity, we get two callbacks to the last Jamie episode, "Love Letters". For one, Jamie has taken Garnet's advice to him to start with local theater. And then when Jamie acts as Garnet during the play, the line about humans not being very good swimmers is a reference to Garnet saying in "Love Letters" that she's a really good swimmer (in response to Jamie's question about how she could swim to the bottom of the ocean).

every time there's a moment between another character and their mother, and then the show cuts to steven with a sad expression on his face... oof.

I think those bits-of-gems are like if your arm retained every memory of when it was in use but nothing else of you, and then attached to a bunch of other people's arms and legs, the only thing that tied them together would be knowing things they can't see can hurt them, and that fear of not being strong enough to stop it from breaking them again. just my thoughts on it 😁

Fun fact: “Vidalia” is an onion variety. Not one you see on grocery store shelves but popular home garden bulb.

Even in the more lighthearted episodes, SU does such cool things with their story. Historical Friction tells such a good lesson to kids about the value of truth in history vs propagandizing it. Way to go SU!

Ok, because I JUST watched Love Letters over on Nani No Anime's channel (like, an hour ago), I only just now noticed that, at 5:58, Jamie's role as Garnet copies what Garnet said when he first met her. Where he, here, says "Humans aren't very good swimmers" and the camera zooms in dramatically, Garnet had said "I'm a very good swimmer" wi the exact same intonation and camera zoom.

My sister has a friend that literally had the same situation with her parents as Connie, like it was freaky how similar they were.

Funny the "Nightmare Hospital" reaction is coming out the same week as Vox Machina 2x02, since both feature Mary Elizabeth McGlynn! (Dr. Maheswaran/Zahra)

Never realized that was Mary, that's kinda lazy and gross on Cartoon Network's part to cast a white actress for a Desi character

As a parent I can say it helps to swallow that she might be wrong when literal magic is involved xD. Where magic is involved, rules can sometimes get blasted to the wayside...
