YG is very intelligent, they say that they have not yet talked about the renewal of BLACKPINK's contract so that all attention will be focused on the debut of BABY MONSTER in November and it is said that after this new group debuts YG will announce the renewal there of BP contract, obviously they are just speculations but knowing YG it is likely that they do it that way, they are geniuses at creating expectations.

In Korea there are dozens of kpop companies (large, medium and small) but the 4 queen, leading and highest level companies are: YG, SM, JYP & HYBE LABELS, these are the 4 big kpop companies in Korea and debut in One of them is like winning the lottery, it is a ticket to become a star and for my opinion YG is the best of all companies because of its level of professionalism and quality, that is why the company has so few groups because they focus on creating quality more than quantity, that's why whenever a group debuts it's a phenomenon in Korea, and YG hasn't debuted a kpop group for 7 years, so expectations are very high because they are the successors of BLACKPINK, which is the biggest gg greatest on the planet and of all time.

Something to remember is that for the two Japanese girls and the two Thai girls, they have had to learn Korean AND English just since they became trainees, and that's along with all of the vocal, dance, etc. It's also not only performing on stage, this is them putting their career/lives on the line every time they do anything because the group wasn't set yet when these were made. There's so much talent in this group and it's why people are so excited to see what their debut will be like. I'm very interested to see how they're going to handle how much English they put in their songs, or even if they might do a full English song, since all of the covers and other songs that they have done have all been in English. That would be blasphemy for some Korean fans, because I'm sure that YG is aiming this group directly at the International audience, but we'll see.

Their ages are current during the posting of these videos. They auditioned or invited to auditioned when they were as young as 10 years old. Chiquita however was 13 years old when she auditioned, and in 3 mos she was selected to be part of the group.

As for when the videos wete shot, we actually don't have exact timing but most of these videos were shot in 2020 (we know for sure that ahyeon and dance performance video were shot in 2020) except for Chiquita's video as she joined in 2021... But that's it I mean at most the videos were from 2021 and mostly before that so what you are seeing is ahyeon,haram at 13 years old, Asa, Chiquita at 14 years old, Ruka at 18, pharita at 15 and Rora at 12 (or at most 13) Also you should've added dance performance video in this reaction video itself as it would've become an even reaction with that, #1 to #3 and dance performance in this video and then #4 to #7 in next video... Anyways always love the coach and misses coach ❤

Haram: Fantastic mellow voice, wielded with real skill. Such a shame that the balance was off in the recording so the piano was almost drowning her out. Ahyeon: More of a rock voice - with some surprising range! Exciting! Chiquita: A beautiful voice, started out sweet and innocent, then suddenly grew up and grew some real power. I must admit seeing these brought up such a whirlwind of emotion, having seen the entirety of BabyMonster Last Evaluation. Chiquita is a baby Lisa. She is also a genius performer with the least amount of training compared to the other girls. She was the final addition to Baby Monster. After only 4 months in training, she had already come up to speed compared to the other girls that had trained already for 4 years, and with Chiquita, YG was ready to introduce Baby Monster.

My bias is Chiquita and my bias-wrecker is Ruka. The maknae and the unnie (also the matnae 😂). I base my choice off of everything. Mostly personality. Chiquita is just a ball of energy and sunshine, and I fell in love with Ruka immediately. The oldest member who acts like the maknae (hence the matnae). But make no mistake, I am absolutely OT7! I support them all 100%, as all true fans should. K-pop fandoms have devolved due to people focusing on a single member and throwing shade at the rest. They are called akgaes. Looking forward to 4-7!

SAYING GOODBYE in KOREAN might take a little getting used to because interestingly they have different words depending if the speaker or one spoken to is the one leaving. I'll add unnecssary hyphens inbetween the syllables so you can see where the letter groupings are in the Korean hangeul that follows: AN-NYEONG-HI GYE-SE-YO 안녕히계세요 if you are the one leaving AN-NYEONG-HI GA-SE-YO 안녕히가세요 if the person you are talking to is leaving There's a popular KZbin channel with two British guys that introduces people to Korean food and culture called Korean Englishman 영국남자 that ends every video with thrir own catchphrase: 오늘은 여기까지 Oneul-eun yeo-gi-gga-ji 'That's all for today!' but yeah that's kinda unofficially trademarked at least in viewers' minds. My favorite Korean food which is a pain to make (3 hours but a lot of down time after blaching and cleaning the bones, like making a stew) and requires a couple htf ingredients (fresh perilla leaves kkaenip 깻잎 and perilla seed powder deulkkaegaru 들깨가루 ) requiring a trip to a big Korean grocery is GAMJATANG 감자탕 a spicy pork neck bone or soup or stew that BLACKPINK Lisa loves. One of the best parts is putting the resulting soup over rice. I used the recipe by charming motherly Korean (in Canada) KZbin cook Maangchi. Korean Englishman went to a restaurant in Korea (video uploaded Jan 2019) where the 'auntie' made gamjatang as massive stacks of the meat in a mountain simmering in broth cooking at the table like a hot pot dish. It's traditionally served in a Korean earthenware clay pot Ttuk-bae-gi 뚝배기 that keeps it hot whole eating, also used for cooking if you have a gas range (inadvisable to use directly on top of ceramic stovetop due to possibility of shattering pot snd scratching stovetop). Apparently, gamjatang is a popular meal after a night of drinking in Korea.

These performances date back to the early days when the girls joined YG, so there is no professional preparation behind them, I would say that the girls were at an amateur level and showed their natural talents! I don't want to spoil anything if you decide to continue following their path but you should know that when any aspiring Kpop idol joins a Korean music company they have to go through years and years of training, sometimes very many, before making their debut. In the meantime they come followed by vocal coaches, rap trainers, dance trainers and other industry professionals who will prepare them for their debut, so the level of Haram, Ahyeon and Chiquita, and that of the other girls obviously, is not what we see in these performances but it has improved a lot over the years! You will see it in the next videos in the YT channel!

React to it or not, I can only say the series is one of the pieces I hold onto to make me a better person. D - 7 !!! *D - 3* Zero would be the *test* so, D - 30 is like a NASA countdown, days minus 30, instead of T Minus. D - 3 is 3 days before the testing. I've seen way way too many reactors talking to each other or the audience, confused by this, that they miss entire talent interviews while attempting to figure out this simple and fast dramatic TV moment. For dream, it’s hard without context. Unfortunately I didn’t get to see you reaction. You don’t know who is yet. Hopefully these vids help. But they basically show who is singing in the video as they are singing. They change from new to older vids which also makes it hard to recognise them. But simple answer is the person you are watching when you hear the voice is the person singing.

I may be wrong, but I think for the purposes of the YG videos introducing the members, they probably used the same counting system that is used in the "West" and more generally internationally. Just as a reference point, Chiquita (the youngest member) will turn 15 in February (birthdate: February 17, 2009). There's only a 6-month gap between her and Rora (the next youngest member). Rora just turned 15 in August. Ruka (the oldest member) is now 21. Korea traditionally has both methods of counting age. The one most commonly and traditionally used simply refers to the number of calendar years a person has lived in (traditionally according to the lunar calendar, not the solar calendar). That's why you start off at birth with the "age" of 1. It doesn't mean you've lived a whole year since the date of birth. It just means that you're in your first calendar year and will be "1" until the next New Year starts...then you're "2" (because you're in your second calendar year), so the focus traditionally has been on counting each new calendar year, not on anniversaries of a person's birth date. But there has always been a way to distinguish the actual number of years of living on earth after the birth date. There's always been an expression "mahn" which means "full"...so a person's full age, measuring the number of full years completed following the day they were actually born, is basically the same as the "Western" method. (Probably more information than anyone wants to know. ;o)

Sway is not a Pussycat Dolls song. It was originally recorded by Dean Martin in 1954, covered by Bobby Rydell in 1960, and revived by Michael Buble in 2003.

Before watching The Last Evaluation reality show where YG made us nervous about who would get to debut while lying to us, I was not going to stan this group. Like many others I'm annoyed with the recent trend of Kpop companies debuting members a bit too young like 13 or 14, which can be problematic if they're given innuendo laden lyrics or questionable choreography. There have been some recent controversies like that. So now I'm slightly annoyed to say that Chiquita and Ahyeon are my biases because these kids are too freakin talented to ignore. Chiquita has the least training time of the 7 and is apparently improving at a scary pace. While it's not fair to any of the idols involved, there have been some fans thinking of those two sorta as new versions of Lisa and Jennie. With some of the styling & hair choices for Chiquita I once joked that it looked like maybe YG built a time machine and brought back Lisa's future daughter to be in his new group. The predebut song DREAM is currently in my top 10 of the year so far. It will be interesting to see how the debut music is considering they're in my mind the only competition quality-wise with the best rookie girl group to debut this year: KISS OF LIFE who hit us with pre-release song BYE MY NEVERLAND and the great title track R&B hiphop song SHHH 쉿 which had a storyline in the music videos which had started with the 4 solo songs they also pre-released before the mini album dropped. In release order the music videos are Thai all-rounder Natty SUGARCOAT, leader / main rapper Julie KITTY CAT, vocalist Belle COUNTDOWN And maknae Haeul PLAY LOVE GAMES (the only song of the 6 that I didn't care for with it's silly use of American songwriter's recycling Take Me Out to the Ball Game melody). Then BYE MY NEVERLAND and SHHH. I don't think I've ever seen a group drop 6 interconnected storyline music videos in a less than 3 week period. Crazy impressive debut. P.S. Cardiologists suggest not watching the video KISS OF LIFE 'KITTY CAT' (JULIE Solo) Dance practice (Moving Ver.). I'd probably take that one over HyunA Bubble Pop mv. Julie previously was a trainee at THEBLACKLABEL which is run by BLACKPINK main producer & songwriter Teddy Park and is a YG adjacent label (housed in the old YG building next door to the new one that looks like a spaceship). So yeah she's got some swag. Thankfully KIOF is a group where everyone is over 18, so they can have more grown up concepts if they want. Natty and the group's creative director Haein competed on IDOL SCHOOL tv show but missed the cut for FROMIS_9 though there were so e questionable manipulations by the people running the show (which led to the members of F_9 unfairly suffering public opinion for a few years for something done by shady tv producers. They're doing better now under a subsidiary label of BTS parent company and released a great full album UNLOCK MY WORLD a few months ago). In the end I'd say FROMIS_9 lineup mix is perfectly what it should be and we're lucky those 2 were free to create KISS OF LIFE. So we got 2 great groups instead of just one. KIOF as they are abbreviated have a new 6 song mini album (7 songs if you count English version of title track) releasing in about a week. Fingers crossed it's as good as their debut. BABYMONS7ER predebut DREAM and KISS OF LIFE debut SHHH are battling over that number 8 slot on my 2023 song favorites. Unless they magically toss us a new mini album before January the highest ranking BLACKPINK related song this year for me will be LISA featured on (former BIGBANG member) TAEYANG great R&B song SHOONG! (onomatopoeia sound of a car driving by fast). The music video and dance practice are both worth checking out. In addition to great dancing from LISA and smooth moves by TAEYANG the 'back dancers' assembled are pretty great and kinda famous dancer/ choreographers from crews on competition tv reality shows Street Woman Fighter and Street Man Fighter. So far I'm ranking SHOONG! at #6: my 2023 top 5 so far is dominated by 4 PURPLE KISS songs and a BILLLIE b-side: 1) PURPLE KISS - T4KE (Chaein songwriting again, she knows how to make use of her members' vocals, see the TongTongCulture 4K Live video), 2&3) PURPLE KISS - SWEET JUICE (R&B with haunted hotel mv) and its spooky INTRO track SAVE ME performance video 4) PURPLE KISS - AUTOPILOT (great retro synth sounds, self MV = handheld cameras) 5) BILLLIE - NEVERTHELESS (vocals GO OFF towards end of this b-side, but no video). 6) TAEYANG - SHOONG (ft. LISA of BLACKPINK, mv & dance practice video) 7) FROMIS_9 - # menow (Chaeyoung looking stunning in the MV, all of them really) 8) BABYMONS7ER - DREAM 9) KISS OF LIFE - SHHH 쉿 (great debut, all 6 MVs make storyline, your move next YG & BM...) 10) BILLLIE - EUNOIA (tackling yet another music subgenre, I'll take this over 2023 nj songs any day) 11) FROMIS_9 smooth sexy b-side ATTITUDE (their bangin' club song WHAT I WANT isn't far behind, from possibly best full album of the year) ...PURPLE KISS Cabin Fever, BILLLIE TBoP vol.3, KISS OF LIFE self-titled = best 2023 mini albums? JENNIE song YOU & ME is really good too but not sure where to categorize a song first dropped in concerts ages ago and not given a proper promoted release. Hopefully, we'll see in November where that BABYMONS7ER debut song lands. Since this is the year of endless summer in Kpop with PURPLE KISS (7HEAVEN), BILLLIE (BYOB) and QUEENZ EYE (THIS IS LOVE) all dropping summertime bops in Sept and Oct, YG might as well debut BABYMONS7ER with a summery song...

Yeah, it can be lengthy. The pronunciation of Annyeong is actually quite easy. An is pronounced just like "on" (as in "on the table") and "nyeong" is pronounced like "young" ("young person), but with an n-sound tacked on front. Simply saying "on young" is close enough pronunciation. The tricky part is that the Korean language expresses "levels of politeness and formality" meaning that the way you would say good-bye or hello to an older person or high-status person is different (and always longer) than the way you say it to a close friend or younger person. "Annyeong" (on young) is typical for saying hello or good-bye to close friends or younger people. Informally, it's fine to just say "on young blinks" (Jisoo does that all the time and, as a joke, she often reverses it and says "nyoung-an").
