The Jackpot mv is actually a commentary on the idol industry. The companies pretty much kidnap kids from their families, terrorize and torture them a bit, make them over to look spectacular and release them into the world. And then punish them harshly if they step out of line... The bit at the end wasn't just a funny skit. It was there to make a point. Fun fact: Zico once said in an interview that Jackpot was inspired by David Lee Roth's Just A Gigolo. The mv for that is pretty crazy, so it's no surprise the mv for Jackpot is a whole experience.

I’ve watched this video so many times and never got that the whole thing is referencing the idol industry, but now that you said it and knowing the issues they’ve been through and how Zico feels it makes so much sense and makes me appreciate and love this video even more than I already had. Thank you so much for this info 😊

Taeil is back!!! I'm so glad he is finished with his service. I mean I'm sure he is just chilling with his fish right now but I'm waiting for him to come out with something. Block B is very versatile and while they are known for these high energy jams they also have these amazing vocal side. Also, if people don't list Zico in the top rappers of Korea...they have never listened to Zico.

Block B can go crazy like Jackpot and then do an incredible ballad like Don’t Leave. One of the most underappreciated groups while they were at their peak.

But they are still OT7 right? And they are also Ateez's senior group. Small world

The thing with block b, as someone else mentioned, their b-sides are also amazing. They’ve got a lot of tracks that are crazy but also tracks in the vein of “Toy.” I miss them so much 😭 thx for appreciating them

Toy is such a good song. It reminds me of a lot of their B-sides, like Movie's Over and Did You or Did You Not. The thing about Block B is that their album tracks are always incredible too.

I’m loving watching your journey into Block B. They hold a special place in my heart along with B.A.P. Nillili Mambo is the song that got me into kpop a few years ago. I don’t know what other songs are on your playlist to watch, but if you need a couple more or want to see more I strongly recommend their song NalinA and their subunit Block B Bastarz and their songs Make It Rain and Zero For Conduct 😊🐝
@orangeoak53193 жыл бұрын
To clarify (because articles have gotten this wrong) the girl in the MV isn’t a love interest or an object of desire for the guys, she’s actually a symbolic representation of Kpop trainees who get taken in by the lure of fame and glamour only to be essentially kidnapped by the industry.
@missmissa974 жыл бұрын
My favorite thing about block b’s youtube comments on their mvs are the loads of people saying block b scares them or they saw them in person and they were dressed up in clown costumes and running around scaring people. That’s just their thing I guess lol

Could you also react to block b "Don't leave", " Shall we dance" and "yesterday" ☺🔥

Their full album Blockbuster was one of the best kpop albums of the earlier part of the decade. So much individual talent shines through, not to mention the group's versatility and musicality. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in Block B. Also, fun fact, Kim Saeron, the actress in Jackpot, was a huge Block B fan and had a blast filming the mv.
@orangeoak53193 жыл бұрын
Yes! And in the Behind the Scenes there’s a clip of her and Zico sat at a table just having a casual conversation lmao. You can see she was having fun in the Behind Ver., too!
@nifelicio77524 жыл бұрын
Serina Helene Ljung has said it in another video and I asked her if I could bring it around: "I've said it before and I'll say it again: Jackpot really is so under appreciated. It takes a massive swing at the entire k-pop industry with not just the lyrics but also the MV. They openly criticize how it's an extremely predatory industry and aspiring idols will be pulled in to stuff they weren't even remotely prepared for at a very vulnerable age, and it's also reflective of what they themselves went through with their first company. The actress being so young and vulnerable, approaching something she both wants and fears with more courage than what's good for her, going through a dub con transformation, ending up strong and confident enough to say her piece and then getting attacked for it is no coincidence."

YASSS BLOCK B IS SO UNIQUE AND JUST DIFFERENT!! They’re also sooo versatile and talented af! ALL OF THEM HAS DONE SOLOS OR SUB-UNITS and obviously you heard how well known, loved, and respected ZICO is in both kpop and k-hip hop scene. I think it’s the same for BLOCK B.. they honestly offer you a different charm and energy compared to other groups. You can’t stop listening and watching them. I’m glad you’re enjoying this BLOCK B journey and I hope you dig even more into them in your own time. Honestly... BLOCK B along with WINNER were my new loves in 3rd generation idols back in 2013/2014.. they still are very much my favorites since then. I’m waiting patiently for all BLOCK B members to come back from their military services. I miss them, their music, and their energy so much!

Since you love their more mellow songs, you might like Block B 'Dont leave' and 'a few years later' 😉 and since zico (the leader) produced their songs you might like his solo songs, I recommend 'anti', 'human', 'being left' and 'balloon', they have deep lyrics, or if you love great vocals you might like taeil's (the main vocal) solo, 'it was love' or 'inspiring' 👍

I want to point out that the part where zico controls the girl like a marionette when he’s wearing the black top hat is straight out of Chicago (the movie and musical) and one of its most famous songs. In the song the convicted woman basically says lies that the man controlling her behind the scenes puts in her mouth, like a ventriloquist.
