G'day Suzi and Trav, this is what aussie pub rock was and is all about... great vocals and blinding musicianship. Mossie is one of the absofrigginlutely best pickers goin'...and he ain't too hard on the ol' peepers either 😉 Young Master Barnes is currently recovering from hip replacement surgery, having destroyed one of the ones he was born with from all those years of climbing and jumping off speaker stacks and stages... Get Well Soon Mate!! All the best to you and Jane and the family... 😊

Cold Chisel and Jimmy Barnes are Australian music royalty. The best places to see them were the sweaty suburban pubs with sticky beer covered carpets in the 80s, Barnes would do the same thing of running into the crowd and getting them to sing with him. I was at the gig in the video circa 1983 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre with a girl I fancied and we both shook Barnesy's hand as he ran through the crowd. I remember both of us getting covered in sweat as he ran off. And yes we did go home separately and wash it off if you're wondering. Not lucky that night!! My sister lives near him now in Bowral NSW and often says hello to him at the local supermarket. He is actually a lovely bloke who is still making music and has written a couple of books about his poverty upbringing and wild career in music.

I am so old the first time I saw Cold Chisel perform around 1978 in Adelaide Jimmy was drinking Scotch, and singing hanging upside down. Another time on New Years Day at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl he had to duck under the stage and later he was singing on top of the speaker stack .

The first time I heard this song was on the Goodies an English Comedy series each episode the characters Bill Oddie, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Graham Gardener (their real names) who were sort of representative of stereotypes Bill the 70 counter culture working man, Tim the posh upper class snob and Graham the science and technical one. They operated a odd job, temp company whose motto was 'we'll do anything anytime' would become involved solving a problem these episodes were satirical, often surreal, very slapstick and were not above taking pot shots at important issues of the time from Apartheid to pollution these shows were so entreating that as a kid I loved them even if the more serious and adult parts of the show sailed over my head. Most of the episodes had a theme song that would appear in the montage section of the episode often performed by Bill. They did several shows revolving around music and even managed to have a hit Album and wild thing was one of the songs with Tim on lead vocals which was completely at odds with his weak slightly cowardly character, they even slipped in a joke to that effect when Tim sings 'hold me tight' he then adds in a slightly strangled voice 'Not quite that tight'. It wasn't till years later I found out that wasn't part of the song.
