REACTION to DREAMCATCHER (드림캐쳐) - BECAUSE MV

my theory so far is just: jiu is a owner or at least worker of some creepy hotel/carnival. she tricks or captures customers and makes them into dolls in which she can control. in this mv, all of the members were previously captured by jiu besides gahyeon who is now being captured by jiu. early in the MV she was much more expressive compared to the other members who acted much more doll/puppet-like. the running scene was also only showed for gahyeon and jiu, so it could be gahyeon trying to run away but then jiu eventually catches her then at the end she joins them and lacks emotional expressions and starts to look like the others as dolls. Shes also in the throne and being caressed by jiu as if jiu now owned and controlled her. i also think siyeon was the last capture before gahyeon. her individual scene is on the throne as if she was put there before being replaced by gahyeon, implying she was the last new one. also, at the end, we see her in front walking to the side to reveal gahyeon. it makes it appear as if she was walking away from the throne and joining the lines of the other members. def still some things idk like why is there two dongies and one is being dragged. also what’s up with sua and that mirror and the apple. and the cloaked mannequins/people? return of creepy dreamcatcher with a damn budget is amazing though. and i’ll always take a gahyeon focus edit: also a random theory that i just came up with cause i rewatched the MV and saw the opening scene. i think gahyeon could maybe be faking it. she figured out the secret, tried to run, but got captured so she decided to try to fake being controlled before jiu actually fully gained control over her. in this case, the opening scene where she takes off the cage would be showing her after the rest of the MV, having tricked jiu and escaping jius control (cage) and potentially escaping entirely. the main reason i see this is just because when she takes of the cage she is on the throne. the only time where it makes sense for her to be on the throne is after jiu seemingly captured her, so it must be occurring after the fact. or who knows, maybe it actually did happen at the start of the MV. maybe gahyeon DID trick jiu and faked it and then the MV is actually gahyeon trying to make her escape. during the opening scene in the hotel lobby jiu is walking past and gahyeon is acting like the other doll members but simply making more expressions. could show how she’s trying to trick jiu until she can escape. but then, jiu finds out, chases her (the running scene) and ultimately actually captured gahyeon and finally makes her her doll. this would also kinda make sense with the choreo. the opening scene has jiu and gahyeon look at each other but gahyeon is the one choking jiu, seemingly being the one in control. this would make sense as early in the story she’s the one tricking jiu before actually being captured by the end. idk just another theory

ooh... love your theory esp the edited portion. yeah, I think Gahyeon was faking it, then she got found out so she tried to run but got caught in the end. also at first I was thinking that Jiu was in control of the members bc of the intro that they did before their performance on that music show but then the mv showed that Sua is the first one to be converted after she bit the apple given to her by that doppelganger so I was thinking it was her but now that I read your theory, I'm starting to change my mind again 😂😂

my theory is JiU is a 'doll maker' / owner of the hotel and has made all the others dolls but Gahyeon is no longer under her control/realizes she's being controlled. She then tries to kill JiU while still pretending to be her doll. Gahyeon seems greedy for JiU's role as controller as well. I'm not entirely sure why SuA was trapped inside the mirror though. It could be that she was locked in there by JiU, or perhaps it symbolises that she saw through JiU's control as well but wasn't able to free herself from being a doll. Read the lyrics and got another theory. Maybe Siyeon is actually controlling JiU. She sings 'It's fine to reject me since another voice of mine calls you instead' and at that part of the choreo everyone else moves hypnotized as siyeon walks freely amongst them, showing that she isn't being controlled. Siyeon might be the main mastermind hiding behind JiU or perhaps, JiU is saving the girls from Siyeon by controlling them.

I love the imagery of the connected purple veils it feels both intimate and intrusive at the same time. Also Yoohyeon's crossed dagger dress is amazing. Also also isn't Yoohyeon pushing a cart in the opening hotel scene that has dresses worn by the members later in the mv? To paraphrase a favorite quote this whole video feels 'like an itch you can't reach finally being scratched by nail that is slightly too sharp'.

Look at Kaia pretty much getting the plot of Us right without having seen it. Though I would like to say that Us is a social commentary with very specific implications for Americans, using a horror/suspense movie as a vehicle, and I suspect that these elements may have been lost on Deukae. I bring that up because they still managed to capture the essence of the message of Us in the MV somehow. If you ever watch Us I suggest doing it early on in the day and then going outside to touch the grass and look at the sky. The biggest Us reference is right at the beginning of the MV, when they're standing in a line. My mind also found a lot of references to previous comebacks. The apple reminded me of when SuA talks about the red apple in Chase Me. The evil doppelgangers and Gahyeon surrounded by plants seem like callbacks to Fly High. The ocean view is clearly a reference to Moonbyul's rap in Gleam. 😂 j/k But my mind definitely did go there.

Having avoided all spoilers all week I have to say it was worth it, although I will say: 1 - Longest. Week. Ever. & 2 - next comeback I think I'll have to watch some of them because I've been literally vibrating since 10am and I don't even want to know what my blood pressure been at (I'm just glad the chorio didn't include a Dami bodyroll, cause I'm pretty sure that would have ended me). As for the mv/song, love both, I've seen it mentioned that it was influenced the the movie "Us" and definitely comes through in some of the shots more than I was expecting (particularly the wide of them in the white & red outfits). Also, I'm currently rewatching the VOD of the Crossroads concerts and realising that the merry-go-round horses feature in that set is now slowly turning me into that Charlie Day conspiricy meme as I over analyse everything DC have put out in the last few months looking for crumbs & teasers (like was Sua finding the mask in the DC Mind horror eps a tease for the part where she has the mask in the mv?)...don't mind me I'll just be in the corner over there slowly putting on my clown outfit...

If you look at the mirrored image at the park that you mentioned and paused at, where you have some member in red on one side and others in white on the other one, I can see that on top you also have two of them but the one that should be in white is in red. There is someone close to the two on the top that are both wearing black and white instead of one wearing white and the other red, and they are also facing away from each other (just like the two at the bottom). There are a total of 12 people there (6 on each side), with 1 being in black and two being in black+white. What does it mean???
