I keep having to remind myself that there are no instruments backing this! All the guys are fantastic on this. Chance with the initial lead, Austin hamming it up (and singing fantastically!), Rob, OMG, and Tim holding down the bass. Then in a class by himself is Adam Rupp! What can I say? How in the world did he do castanets?! You should react to Rob and Austin singing Nessun Dorma! These guys can sing anything!

Sea shanties weren't so much to get you jazzed up as you were working, but more to keep everyone in time with each other. Furling and unfurling sails, working the capstan, and so many other tasks required many men to work together, and that means that if one is out of step, it takes longer for a task to be done. Kinda like the drummer on slave ships that kept the rowers in time.

Love this video. Each shanty gets a little faster so you can't help but be dancing in your chair by the end! Someone mentioned that Tim was standing in a boat. From what I've read, the boat belongs to Chance. However, since Chance lives in an apartment in L.A., he has no room for the boat. So it's stored at Tim's brother-in-law's in Nashville. Apparently, they pulled it out into the yard & Tim stood in it to shoot his portion of the video - with no explanation to any of the neighbors as to what was going on. LOL!
@meghanmacqueen51573 жыл бұрын
Heya, this isn't that surprising, I'm sure, but sea shanties traditionally have catchy, upbeat tunes, because they had to get sailors through some pretty tough times. I used to teach elementary school French, and I would teach them french songs that the Voyageurs sang as they rowed their longboats across what was Upper and Lower Canada during the fur trade (good grief, that was a boring little tale lol. But the songs were so much fun, and the kids absolutely loved them! The ones we did, as I said, were sung while rowing, so they had a strong, steady beat. Okay, I"ll go and nerd off somewhere else....). xo

I love this. At first I was like sea shanty? What? Chance was into them on TikTok hence the TikTok format. He brought this to the boys and at first they were like um, we’re not sure. It’s stellar and a big hit on TikTok I think. Tim, Austin and Adam went full pirate mode. Tim as Capt. Jack went into the basement and stayed there. I only knew one song but I love the last one. Adam was doing castanets in it. Did you hear that? Amazing. Yes, Chance has a beautiful voice. Please listen to I Can’t Outrun You. Chance leads and there’s lots of bass and he directed the video too. It’s so haunting. He also sings Yours and Some Girls Do. All good by Chance. Good reaction Red Beard…or Metal Guy! Hahaha

How good are these guys? The fun & energy in this is infectious. This was done during quarantine so none of the guys were even together. The editing of this was great & was done in the Tik Tok style. This is such a GREAT medly. Get this, Chance brought this to the guys but at 1st they were reluctant, but he wore them down...and this is their most popular upload of the year - 3.5 million views !! If you want to hear Chance the lead throughout a song there are two of mine that are favorites....cover of Sawyer Bown's "Some Girls Do" (I also reccomend because of Adan's percussion too), and an original that was written for them by their friend, Arliss Allbritton, *DIVE BAR SAINTS* the title track to their Sept 2019 album - it's one of their best....its beautiful & chill....grab something to drink and just react to it !!!

And the latest release by Austin Brown from last Friday titled 'TEARS IN HEAVEN" the classic Eric Clapton hit! He is Phenomenal on this one! He does it as only he can do with his own touch! Austin is very special and has a gift from God with his singing voice and his ability to connect with the listener. It's like he goes completely within himself deeply and pulls out every ounce of his heart and soul and then gives it to us! He definitely delivers on this one! I love him so much as well as each member of the group! Our favorite guys of Home Free are simply the best I've ever seen and heard! No dramatic productions necessary! This was their original video done during the COVID lockdown. There is a newer one filmed during a live show that you definitely should watch. Chance was hired by the video game company Ubisoft to write a song for their game Skull and Bones. Home Free has three videos for that number: at the introduction party for patrons with Chance on guitar and Austin on mandolin, scenes from the game with lyrics scrolling up the screen, and a sort of mini movie showing a pirate story. Another version of Skull and Bones was done by the 4-man a cappella group The Bass Gang who are friends with Home Free. Tim Foust joined them for Hooked On a Feeling, which was my introduction to the group. Oh, and BTW Adam Chance is called Chance when performing with Home Free since there was already an Adam when he joined. When solo or with the Hound + the Fox he goes by Adam Chance. But things changed a bit a couple months ago. Austin left to go solo and an old friend of the group stepped in. His name is Adam Bell-Bastien, making THREE guys named Adam in this five man group. So they decided to forgo their first names and just go by Rupp, Chance, and Bastien (pronounced Bass-teen). Tim and Rob are still Tim and Rob.
